It is such a pleasure to see Lt.Gen Kulkarni on your show. But it is an even greater pleasure to hear him speak. He is so up to date on any weapon, tactic, situation or technology. What a wonderful ability he has for a senior officer to stay up-to-date with the present and bring along his experience of the past. Aa always we can never thank you enough for giving us the Siachen sir. Jai Hind!

World's one of the most finest podcast channel is this, and knowledge gained by us that is mesmerising... The level of briefing we find here that is nowhere else we could... Thanks a lot sir...
Salute you Major Gaurav Arya sir &LtGen Kulkarni sir 👏👏. Great Patriotic 👍.Good conversation between you two. Jai hind siriji 🇮🇳. Vanade Mataram 🇮🇳. Bharat Mata ki Jai 🇮🇳.
It is always most exiting and energetic to hear you every time Gen. Kulkarni Sir like past time. You have done justice to every infantrymen personal weapon by detailing in best way including INSAS. Among the multiple reasons of it's bad name(INSAS), the major reason is due to its caliber which you have mentioned rightly, Sir. The GSQR were formulated for this caliber only. It is fact that 7.62x 51mm is most deadly due to it's stopping power but at the same time it is difficult to control in burst fire than 7.62x 39mm due to it's much higher back thrust. This(7.62x51mm) must be weapon for special use as you rightly said. There is really no substitute of AK 203 for regular assault rifle as well as standard weapon for our three forces. Sir, nobody can say better than you that we Indians can't make rifles for infantry, up to the nations expectation, as you witnessed in the last decade. Be it Excaliber 5.56mm or Assault 7.62x 51mm. Thanks to Major Arya we have the opportunity to hear again as you superbly explains the whole critical matter in a simple way. I Salute you.
Infantry plays the most role in warfare...... Yes the Airforces supresses the enemy defenses through air dominance and Navy ensures enemy supply chains are cut.... But Infantry is where all the action takes place.. Infantry does the real job
Hello Major sir just a suggestion. Please add topics in the video too. So we will know what all topics were covered in this podcast. Amazing work 🙌 Plus thank you for getting Lt Gen Sanjay Sir ❤️
Living the podcast series . What a brilliant set of brains on the cushion. The retd decorated officers with the thorough knowledge and expertise , to the point and clear vision . One thing that I learned today was ..he was constantly backing up his boys, and example of a leader ,teamplayer , motivator , teacher support system and top a wonderful ehergetic human being .
We salute Our Jawans and the other infantry divisions of The Indian Army because "In combat, the role of the infantry is to capture or destroy enemy ground forces and repel enemy attacks. Members of the infantry are ground troops that engage with the enemy in close-range combat. They operate weapons and equipment to engage and destroy enemy ground forces. Therefore giving the best will be the best for the rest. It's Our Country's Stake that they hold In That Weapon In Hand ?" Yes indeed they deserve it All from All . Thanks to Major Gaurav and Gen Kulkarni for the real great insights and dimensions . Jai Hind.
It broke my heart when I went till last round and could not qualify for OTA but made couple of friends who are in Army now. I am also lucky to have used few weapons in US. Indian army, especially infantry is seriously lacking when they are asked to do CI/CT operation without NVG or sights or even proper vests. In US, even private citizens can get proper gear. I am a novice when it comes to weapons but I hit the target from 300m away with sights on AK. While my friends in Army are doing CI operations without proper gear
🙏. Gentlemen, Great video msg. 7.62 x 51 should be standardized right across without any delay through out Bharat, to enable level 1, level 2, level 3 , level 4 of security apparatus of Bharat, interoperability, standardization of weapons makes it easy to deliver achieve goals despite moving extingencies at all times of war situations. Nicely put. We Bharat and Bharatiyas are not having much time before D day , hence time for Bharat to go into war time mode thinking , urgency and action to not be caught napping . Hope good sense prevails ji before it is too late.🙏. Maryada Leela Purush Siyaram Shri Shyam Bhakt sahit Bhagwan ko baram baar pranaam ji. 🙏.

Sir thankyou very much to discuss on most imp. Discussion of our Infartry mens. Rifle is the most imp. are part of a soldier, its like a body part of their own.
AskMajor Sir good evening. Jai Hind. Sarang Ingle here. I am a Marine Engineer by profession and a defense enthusiast. The second order of the Sig Saur-716 battle rifles is a hot topic of discussion today. You must be aware that there is an Indian private company called SSS Defense, which manufacturers small arms ie assault rifles, carbines and Sniper rifles in India. Their P-72 P-72 Rapid Engagement Combat Rifle (RECR) was designed for the regular infantry and special operations environments. It is chambered for 7.62×39mm or 7.62×51mm. As in, why didn't the army and the MOD go for these weapons? Doesn't this beat the very concept of "Aatmanirbhar Bharat"? Unless and until our home grown companies get a bulk order of such platforms readily and easily available in India, how will the ecosystem develop? Being a home grown country, this company will help set up the logistics, training and service facilities which will ensure that we don't lack capabilities in case of wars. Being dependent on Americans or other foreign OEMs for such a basic but a very important capability is nothing but defeating the very spirit of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. Your thoughts please. I am all for Aatma Nirbharata Sir. I want my country to develop, design and produce the best weapon systems in the world indigenously. Assault Rifle and other small arms are just the beginning. Jai Hind Jai Hind ki Sena Vande Mataram Bharat Mata ki Jai❤️
#AskMajor can you talk about the US-India defence cooperation act? Seems like a great deal for India, with a report on Pak terrorism and potential funding cuts if found, CAATSA waivers, and NATO level ToT
🙏 The situation of Indian Army Infantry Rifles procurement and IAF fighters jets procurement has to be streamlined which has been serious issues since decades in terms of different types jets / rifles Jai Hind
Maj Arya asked a very valid question to Gen Kulkarni on what weapons an infantry company commander has to engage a tank. Gen Kulkarni spoke about everything on tactics to motivation and morale but spoke nothing on the actual question. Gen Kulkarni himself was DG Infantry but was passing the blame on standardisation to the government whereas he himself should have been the person issuing directives on standardisation.
It blows my mind why the Indian military hasnt copied the AR15 platform. It is a very versatile platform. High quality components can be made plenty and cheaply. It is not rocket science. Companies in the US with a 2-4 acre facility can churn out 1 lakh rifles a year. The designs are all over the internet. India has lakhs of these rifles in service for reference. Come on Modi ji. Do it.
Sir SSS defense has a rifle and Adani defense has a rifle too why don't the army try by giving it to the battilon in Kashmir and test them on terrorists.
Major (sir) i think indian 🇮🇳made & assembled M777 howitzers from BAE( U.k 🇬🇧 ) + also indian version of bofors + 200 km range Pinaka DRDO is working on + military drones made by indian company like for example : by General Aeronautics pvt Ltd (Founder Director Air Cmde PK chaudhary VSM ( retired) promote these indian companies by giving them defense contracts to make them in India🇮🇳 are steps Indian Govt should do to make "Aatam Nirbhar Bharat" ( self reliant India Should be funded by indian Govt 🇮🇳 this will protect indian army in Leh & kargil & LOC ( China - indian border ) from evil eyes of enemy for next 20 years Major sir can you please bring Honorable Air Cmde PK chaudhary VSM ( retired) on GAP , he can give lot more inputs on this topic, to all your viewers of GAP
Sir, I have figured the audio quality is hindering the whole aspect of the video. Though I usually watch all your videos 1.25x due to time constraints. The AK-203 is already choosen and is reliable and sources say by 2026 it would be fully indigenous. How so ever we can debate the money centric budget at last comes to our doorsteps. We might say we have the resources, we have the brain, excessive manpower, India is a service based nation it is bound to have that! The product and service nation together is the ultimate aatmanirbharta we desire. We are in the right steps. Just too hostile these days to exercise our interests. All my geopolitical knowledge comes from you Maj, please fix this sound/audio quality. Regards.
china pakistan armies never have problem choosing rifles, artillery & armour ONLY Indian Importaholic Army; Now these two are asking 7.62 x 51 in 10 years these same two will say "Oh situation has changed rapidly since our last discussion now we need 6.8 x 51 of USArmy MCX as it delivers 20% more force" please please LET US JUST KEEP IMPORTING ! Chandigarh Import Lobby zindabad!
The problem in standard assault rifle is not money. It is DRDO/OFB. If the socialist-minded mantris and babus haven't seen the light, it is but natural that we are still the world's largest importer of weapons. Do we really think that Kalyani, with world leading metallurgy that produced the ATAGS barrel and breech block--essentially 80% of the weapon--cannot produce a world class infantry rifle? Or even L&T or Tata? The problem is the govt wants private industry to foot the bill for development and production but will throw taxpayer money into the black hole of the DPSUs. This is completely at odds with the world's best and biggest arms producer, the USA, which ONLY trusts the private sector and the competitiveness inherent in it. In short the govt is stupid.
Major Sahib, this is where you are going wrong with your podcasts. Gen Kulkarni episode should have been around Siachin, not infantry. Chanakya dialogues is the format for an apt discussion around infantry. Hope you get the msg.
As an Indian I wont called India is more powerful than Pakistan as long as Pakistan have PoK. What a shame India being 4th largest military strength whereas, Pakistan stood 9th ranked. In terms of GDP India stood far on top lists than the Pakistan. But still India hesitate to get back the pok from Pakistan!!! India loves to enjoy only world rankings but infact have no power of its own to protect its own sovereign territories.
Your name suggest s that you are not an Indian don't think about Pakistan there are America and china behind it i don't think you understand fully about that situation but remember one thing if you are at all an Indian don't doubt about our capabilities
You are right but war with Pakistan will exhaust our arsenal and kill our growth which is highest in the world right now. China growth is half right now but still growing. You see Ukraine & Russia both sides are losing only USA & China are winning on both sides. War with Pakistan will be short 2 to 4 days but our Airforce will get heavy damage like losing the number of Jets, also in navy loss. China will enjoy the war by just supplying weapons. We will win battle but lose the War. If china attack us then we have no arsenal no supplies because Russia is in war, europe is proxy war, USA cannot be trusted and currently we are behind in self sufficient weapon production.
By the same logic, China is not powerful if it can't take back it's province of Taiwan, when China is 50 times bigger and has nuclear weapons and Taiwan does not.
Our army is, defensive ..when will we be offensive? And , stand up, for our intrests? We want an army that serves our intrests..pok, sindh. Take something..Bangladesh also has a chicken neck. What are we waiting for?
The man is just waffling around. He answered no question specifically. But certainly a player of words… Try and get hold of a plainspeaking infanteer… Gaurav

Ex Major Manish Bhatnagar , who was company commander of 5 para had lost 1 jawan on 26- Jan-1999 had reported the Pakistani intrusions in kargil in jan -feb-1999 had officially reported this , in batalic sector .
the top army Generals are hiding the true facts. Ex major Manish Bhatnagar has spotted a emeny bunker on point( bunker reported on 08 & 09 Jan-1999 by major Manish Bhatnagar) , as early jan- feb 1999. Major Manish Bhatnagar had reported enemy bunker on point 5770 , which was highest feature captured during operation Vijay . on jan 26 1999, as a company commander his 1 jawan was killed & 4 of javans were critically injured. all reported in higher chain of command
The top Generals are not speaking truth . He has shown , offical 12:32 evidence , documents, reports , filed & reported by him of Pakistan intrusions in jan 1999 , on record on you tube as a Company commander to top bosses in Jan 1999 of Pakistan inteusions .It is in this context that a former officer of the 5th Battalion of The Parachute Regiment (5 Para), ex-major Manish Bhatnagar, has raised several questions regarding the discovery of the intrusions and the manner in which these were handled subsequently in the conduct of operations.Bhatnagar has taken umbrage at a recent television interview in which former Army chief Gen V P Malik (retd) said lack of intelligence inputs and surveillance gaps led to the Kargil intrusions. He served a legal notice on the former Army chief on July 8 seeking withdrawal of the comments, contending that disregarded warnings had in fact led to the intrusions.
short article insertBhatnagar’s contention is that in January-February 1999, he observed and reported enemy activity at Point 5770, the northernmost and highest peak later reclaimed from the Pakistani army regulars as part of Operation Vijay on June 29, 1999, by 27 the battalion of the Rajput Regiment.
Bhatnagar has said that he repeatedly reported enemy activities and exchange of fire while he was in an eyeball-to-eyeball situation close to Point 5770 and that he even spotted an enemy bunker and reported as above, in regular written situation reports, message log books and conversations up the chain of command to his then commanding officer, Col A K Srivastava.
These reports were sent up the chain of command to Brigadier P C Katoch, then commander of the 102 Infantry Brigade and Major General V S Budhwar, then general officer commanding of the 3 Infantry Division.
The 25th anniversary of the Kargil war has not only served as a reminder of the valour, tenacity and steadfastness of the Indian troops on the icy heights of Dras, Batalik, Mushkoh and other areas of the battlefield but also brought the alleged intelligence and surveillance failures that led to the conflict back into focus.
It is in this context that a former officer of the 5th Battalion of The Parachute Regiment (5 Para), ex-major Manish Bhatnagar, has raised several questions regarding the discovery of the intrusions and the manner in which these were handled subsequently in the conduct of operations.
Bhatnagar was court-martialled in 2001 and dismissed from service. He had been found guilty of “acts prejudicial to good order and military discipline” and handed out what seemed to be an excessive punishment disproportionate to the offence.
The more serious charge against him pertained to disobeying a command to carry out an attack on a position reportedly occupied by the Pakistan army. However, this charge could not be proven in the course of his court martial and Manish Bhatnagar was found not guilty.
Bhatnagar contended during the course of his trial that he had reported Pakistani intrusions well before they were discovered in May 1999 but that his warnings had been disregarded by the Army top brass.
Bhatnagar says warnings disregarded
Bhatnagar has taken umbrage at a recent television interview in which former Army chief Gen V P Malik (retd) said lack of intelligence inputs and surveillance gaps led to the Kargil intrusions. These reports were sent up the chain of command to Brigadier P C Katoch, then commander of the 102 Infantry Brigade and Major General V S Budhwar, then general officer commanding of the 3 Infantry Division.
Bhatnagar says even the post manned by the late Captain Saurabh Kalia reported heavy exchange of fire in the Kargil and Batalik sectors. While being on the forward post, Captain Kalia (as early as three months before official declaration of intrusions), reported mortar, artillery, anti aircraft guns, medium and small arms fire on February 5, 6, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 23, 25, March 1, 2(Holi), 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 23 and 27 in 1999.
“Despite reportings as above, and possibly besides numerous others not within the personal and documentary knowledge of my client, which might have been similarly suppressed at some level up the chain, posts were ordered to be vacated and enemy information not even shared with the neighbouring brigade and higher headquarters up to the Army headquarter level,” the legal notice sent by Bhatnagar’s advocate states.
The former officer has also contended that weeks into the eviction operation, general officer commanding of the 3 Infantry Division, Maj Gen V S Budhwar, continued to send exhausted and fatigued troops for eviction operations, from one sector to another, including those being de-inducted from the Siachen glacier.
Bhatnagar contends that the general officer commanding was ordering deinduction of troops from the Siachen heights of 21,000 ft, making them march for days only to be directly reinducted into eviction operations.
The ex-major says the Kargil war has not been evaluated in its correct, full and overwhelming perspective. “The careers of officers who fought in this war on the front line at various levels, failed to rise except a few, to ranks above Brigadier. Many of them were deprived due and appropriate recognition in the form of war/gallantry medals & decorations such as then Captain Cheema of 27 Rajput, Brigadier Devinder Singh, then Commander 70 Infantry Brigade,” he said.
Bhatnagar added that while junior officers like him suffered dismissal from service, after one of the most controversial trials, no blame or fault has been found with any officer above the brigadier rank for intrusion having taken place, unprecedented eviction and subsequent fudging and manipulation of war records and documents, leading to wrong lessons being drawn.
Questions raised by ex-major Bhatnagar
Was it not possible to accomplish eviction operations with fewer Indian casualties?
Except for the bravery and sacrifices of the young officers and men, has Kargil war not been reduced into a delusional narrative?
Were enemy intrusions collectively termed Kargil intrusions 1999 really a surprise or intelligence or surveillance failure at all?
Hasn’t the standard of generalship seen a massive dip in standards, when compared with the 1971 Indo-Pak war? Wasn’t the operational-level generalship totally lacking?
Was it not a better ground strategy to starve the enemy in terms of supplies and ammunition by cutting off his stretched supply lines running through bowls and valleys, instead of direct assaults of entrenched enemy at massive heights, by own troops in near-suicidal missions, as was finally accomplished by then Commander 70 Infantry Brigade Brigadier Devinder Singh in the fastest manner and with minimal casualties?

We don't care about your opinions.......😂😂😂
POK to jb marji le le But sath me chutiye bhi to aayenge unka kya 😂😂😂.. that's why India hesitate to conquer POK.😂😂
By the same logic, China is not powerful if it can't take back it's province of Taiwan, when China is 50 times bigger and has nuclear weapons and Taiwan does not.
Our army is,
defensive ..when will we be offensive? And , stand up, for our intrests? We want an army that serves our intrests..pok, sindh. Take something..Bangladesh also has a chicken neck. What are we waiting for?
Why we want pok but look plain state agricultural and industrial state.
Another 100 year's vote for legendary insus rifles world best rifle ever made and planning to export it to American army🤮🤮🤮
Hindi wala vee kijiye sir
Podcast is not Gup Shup, it’s focused on what the person accomplished and how.
The man is just waffling around. He answered no question specifically. But certainly a player of words…
