    I'm just over 10K on mine as well, an excellent ride and I'm taking mine down the entire west coast of the U.S. I would switch your headlight bulb to the LED one from Cyclops Adventure.

    For me the only problem is the clutch cable is too much short for R9T Scrambler, when you turn right to the end of handle bar, the outside protecting pipe of clutch cabled will be scratched and damaged by the upper frame (with sharp edge) easily, especially when you have to back forward in the garage frequently. I do worry it will be broken one day. it just needs to add 5 cm length more I think to improve the condition. You may take a look at your cable the position what I said. The R9T Scrambler needs more length on it than other models because different upper frame design and bigger handle bar but BMW use the same length clutch cable for all R9T models to cause the problem.

    Man, thanks for the video. I think that the dual gage is great and the bar end mirrors both things look very cool on the bike. Can’t say the same about the top case, not only the one you have, but all top cases for me, are a aesthetic killer of this type of bike. I see the practicality of it, but for me that wouldn’t be an option. I don’t fancy backpack’s but for this kind of bike I would make an exception. This bike is too cool to get along with such a piece of hardware. That is, of course my humble opinion and obviously, I respect that you think differently. The only BMW bike’s that I think the hard panniers and top case don’t affect negatively the concept and the general looks is the big GS. Other than that, it seems always strange to me.
    Be well and ride safe✌️✌️

    Thanks for the thorough review of the add-ons. Did not know you could add the tach on that bike. I'm a big fan of the old fashioned "double clocks" on any bike. I'll check to see if you can do that on the Pure as well. +1 on the Rizoma bar-ends, too. That blue tint made a lot more difference than I would have thought once the sun dropped and the headlights came out.

      SeaMonkey137 I’m not 100% sure but I believe it’s the same kit and I’ve seen the wiring there ziptied to the frame in the same spot just under the right side near the front of the tank on the pure.

    I'm over on Kauai and looking at one of these from the mainland. Was wondering how they stand up to the heat, salt air, and rain. Seems like a great bike for our roads without going for a GS or other dual sport.

    • @alexworks9659
      @alexworks9659  3 роки тому +1

      Salt and rain. Exhaust gets discolored, speckled rust on spokes. Air cooled so if it’s hot, humid and not moving it has crept up to 295 pretty hot. If it was water cooled I think I’d like it better. I definitely would get the engine guards. Gs is nice but it’s a big bike.

    Hey Alex. Thanks for the great review of your mods! I'm seriously considering buying a 9T, but keep hearing that the handling of the Scrambler is poor due to the taller front tire and increased rake of the front end. I also live in a tropical climate, but 3rd world. I can buy one, but it's quite a trip to the dealer (and they don't allow test rides) so I'm really interested in your opinion. I'm also getting conflicting reports on the tires. Many comments about tubed tires, but the dealership (via email) told me they're tubeless. With tubeless tires, I can easily get the tire plugged and on my way again. Being stuck in the middle of nowhere where because I can't get my tired pulled and tube patched doesn't seem like a smart way to go. Sorry for being long-winded :)

      Hey thanks for the comments! It’s not as snappy in corners like a the original 9t or a short sport bike. It does handle well. Weight is low, our roads are terrible and it does well. Spoke rims are tubeless. Cheers!

      I did remove the tank and re zip tie and run the wires as straight as possible which gave it maybe 1/3-3/4” more slack. The original kinda snaked a little haven’t had any issues. Going on 25k miles, probably 20k with added tachometer.

    • @alexworks9659

      Brett Murray-The wire is already there on the bike. Zip tied to the frame just under the tank on the brake side near the fork, plugs right into the gauge and shows all the info I showed in the video. No programming or battery disconnect. I am guessing it’s already sending signals and just not plugged into anything on the Scrambler model. Bought it online from kfm motorraeder in Germany. Found link to parts from NineT owners forum. Thanks for the offer! I've done a few hunting roads and a few easy trails. It is not a dirt bike and off road is heavy and sluggish compared to a kx250 (my only real dirt bike experience). These tires do well on wet roads, if you lean it over on shitty roads in rain, it will get squirrely. I do think the semi knobbie tires are what most complaints refer to. C C homemade rack,Tig welded Out of 3/4” tubing to match the pointy curves of tail light. Wasn’t one available when I bought the bike. I do like the hepco Becker tail rack for it. Box is attached with Givi mono key plate

    Im looking to buy one of these as my first bike, what do you think of it for a newbie?

    • @alexworks9659
      @alexworks9659  5 років тому +2

      I love the R nine T. I do not think this would be a good first bike. Has quirks, it’s torque-y and pulls (Roll)to one side under acceleration (shaft drive and rotation on engine is on long axis vs transverse). A bit too much low end power and can get you in trouble quickly accidentally. You could easily loop this thing from standstill at a light. It’s also a bit heavy, although it’s CG is pretty low. I’d get engine guards because if you lay it down even at low speed, you’re gonna ruin the heads. Get riding on a older cheap used bike first. My opinion. Ride safe!🤘🏽

      I don't understand why people get all butthurt like this guy when they don't like a video. For fuck's it's like they think the entire world is here to serve and entertain them. And then instead of simply moving on to something else he takes the time to get all cunty. It's mind-boggling.
      I appreciate this video as I am seriously considering buying an R9T and I plan to put a shitload of miles on it. Also I learned a few things I didn't already know - like the tacho wiring being there on models without the tacho and the fact that those folding adjustable levers have sharp edges. Not to mention getting an idea of the general wear and tear. All around I think it's a quality video and I appreciate that you took the time to share your experience with the rest of us.
