Just a piston driver here. Favorite part of the whole video is when you say you usually hand fly to 10k because you just really like to fly. That’s awesome. Blue skies and tailwinds 🤙
Thank you!! I just really like flying 🤪
scot, i was like that part to. I passed my PP written and working on the Instrument. hoping to be in flight school full time by fall. Evetime my wife and i watch pilot videos and see them engage autopilot almost as soon as positive rate is established. i tell my wife "i am paying to much money to get my ratings i am hand flying until at least 10k or cruising altitude whatever comes 1st". so glad Pilot Kaity hand flies a lot longer than most.
@@pilotkaityI love that you hand fly the airplane so much. The automation is making pilots lose their feel for real flying
@@jamesharkness1058 I agree! I like flying and I wanna stay sharp
@@pilotkaity I'am not trying to sound critical with my comment if i come off sounding like that i apologize.Even thought you are a Corporate Pilot don't you have to wear the Pilot's uniform on the Job.
Thanks for the ride! I ferried a Cessna 150 from Boise to Dallas many years ago. Left DFW at 10:am, departed Boise at 11:am. Stopped in Salt Lake for fuel, spent the night in Grand Junction, flew through Monarch Pass and stopped in Salida for fuel, coffee, weather check, and scrape the ice off the windscreen. Snow flakes began to fall the size of golf balls so I blasted off to stay ahead of the front. Headed for Colorado Springs then a turn south toward Amarillo and didn't make it. Too much snow and had to spend the night in Dalhart Texas. Made it home the next day but that is a trip I learned a lot from and loved the scenery around Boise because it is similar to Northern California where I learned to fly. Looking forward to your trips, I can't stand what's on TV anymore but keeping up with YT pilot friends is fun for me. I remember taxiing in to Salt Lake the evening I landed there for fuel there were two or three FBO's out there and they had guys out by the taxiway trying to wave me in! They were in competition I reckon but I thought it was funny. They needed sign spinners with the lowest fuel prices printed on them.
Wow that sounds like a very memorable ferry flight!!
you are such an inspiration!! Watching this video while sitting down to study for my Instrument written exam. I'll hopefully be where you are one day!
Omg how cool! You will be there before you know it!!
Thanks for posting these. Been show to my niece, she doesn’t really know what she wants to do. I suggested being a pilot. Whether you know it or not there’s young low men looking up to you! Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much!
great video! hope to see more where you take us along for the ride!
Thank you! I put out 2 videos per week
Love the video. I’m currently studying for CFI and I’m looking forward to getting into the world of corporate aviation. Thanks for sharing!
Best of luck!
Thanks for posting this! Currently time building and planning to go the corporate route. It just seems more interesting than flying the line.
I really like it. Aviation has a lot of different options but this is my forever job!
Cool video, that particular pilatus looks pretty nice, not all worn out. I like how you show the whole flight, how you plan the flight and getting clearances and such. Thanks a bunch.
Thank you for the feedback!
Awesome channel! Great video!
Thanks so much!
One of the best 👌
🙏🙏
20:24 caption error is hilarious 😆 great video!
The captions in general on this one didn’t work out great 😂 (upbeat music)
I have another vlog coming out this Thursday that I think is better quality so I’d love feedback on that one as well
Your awesome, Kaity
Thanks! Hope you enjoyed the video!
I appreciated it very much the quality of the picture, the shooting, the angles, the editing, really beautiful. congrats.
Thank you! Anything you’d do differently on the next vlog?
@@pilotkaity the way the text show up on screen is not ideal for reading. A simple stamp should work better
Interesting view of behind the scenes work on the flight planning, etc. I like to see what routines different pilots do to prepare for flights, what things they find important, and things like that.
It looked like the running captions kind of had a stroke there, and the AI just kind of gave up in frustration at times. Kind of amusing on a certain level. Was wondering how it was to fly the SUV of the skies, the "Flattest PC-12 [dramatic music]!" Auto caption definitely does not understand ATC chatter.
Keep up the good work. Very interesting stuff. You'll find the right balance of editing, music, and other stuff at some point. It only took me posting a few videos to discover that I have a great face for radio, a great voice for annoying people, and the video editing skills of a 2 year old. So, you're way ahead of most of us.
The captions are so bad on this one but it’s also kinda funny (upbeat music) 😂 definitely learning a lot on the editing side and will be making each video better and better!
Loving all things aviation, can’t wait to book my intro flight and get enrolled into ground school! 🌅✈️
That’s awesome! Are you going to get your private license or go all the way through commercial
@@pilotkaity me and a long time friend plan to get our privet license first, then work toward commercial, we want to work together as co-pilots. Not for big airliners but small aircraft, transport supply and workers. Etc etc. I’m pretty excited, nervous too. I’ve never even been in the sky haha. But it’s been a long time dream.
@@BeholdSevenWoes that’s awesome I’m excited for you
This video popped up on my feed because I watch as much avaiation as possible. Idk.. Anyway really appreciated all the explanations about whats going on. I found the ‘closed captioning’ extremely distracting. I honestly wanted to watch the entire video but the captioning was just TO much. Just my opinion.
The captioning will definitely be different on my next vlog. It didn’t work out quite the way it was intended but I’m new to UA-cam and the editing is honestly very difficult so lots of learning going on over here!
Same man, you should look into getting to it privet license. I decided to do it! Haha
Thinking about part 91. CASEL, IR, CFI, CFII, CAMEL, and MEI just finished so looking for options. Great video!
Awesome happy to help!
Kaity. I just subscribe and just wanted to let you know you are inspiration to me. I am in beginning stages of my private pilot certification and my main goal is work private or semi private jets. Watching your video is helping me manifest my dreams next to seeing jets in the air field around me. I currently working as a flight attendant for 17 years doing this career jump in my mid 40's which sounds crazy but I know if I don't do it now I wouldn't. Love your confidence and professional attitude. I hope to handle situations in flight like you do. 😊
Thank you so much! I love that you’re going for it! Where are you at in your training?
@@pilotkaity I am working with McAir flight school 141 at KJBC.
I’m a flight medic and our company acquired a PC-12. Haven’t flown on it yet, just our citation. Looking forward to see it.
You’re gonna love the cargo door especially if you’ve been loading patients in a citation
Great piloting Ma’am 🫡
Thank you!!
GEEZ!!! One has to be a speed reader!!! 😮😊
Yes 😂 we got rid of the captions on the next vlogs
I am a corporate jet pilot and 9 years ago I flew PC-12 NG briefly before getting hired to fly Jets. I have a couple of hundred hours in the PC-12 NG. It’s a nice single engine turboprop.
It’s a fun plane! What do you fly now?
@@pilotkaity Since then, I got Typed in three different jets, Citation Jets (CJ1 through CJ4), Premier IA jets and Falcon 2000. I’ve been flying Falcon 2000 jets.
@@ArizonaAirspace that’s awesome
Corporate can be a great choice. I’ve been flying for 32 years. Back in the late 90s, I flew part 135 for 5 years and it has been corporate for me ever since. I’ve been with the same corporate flight department now for 19 years. To me it’s the best job ever. I get to do mixed fleet flying and fly all over the world. And in corporate, that means you get to sit somewhere for an extended period of time and actually see some of the world besides airports and hotel rooms.
Thanks for sharing your experience. What planes are you flying?
@@pilotkaity we all fly two types, but we will sometimes swap to a different type, depending on company needs and pilot preferences. I’m currently on the Gulfstream G550 and the A319ACJ. But I’m new on the ACJ, I switched to it in March. I’ve flown other Gulfstream, Airbus and Boeing products for our company as well, but if I mention the types, it’s too easy for people to figure out where I work. 😅🤪
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 haha very nice! Sounds fun
@@pilotkaity it’s a lot of fun. I know you love your job, but if you want to stay in corporate, my advice is to find a 91 job that operates world wide. I think it can get boring to always fly in the same area. Get a job that takes you places. It’s not only the destinations, but the flights to and from are always fun too and very satisfying. Just my opinion.
Groovy!
Thanks!
@@pilotkaity You are welcome hon! =O)
Toasters is good. Try Copper Onion. Excellent! But there’s so many good places to eat in SLC. You really can’t go wrong!
Thanks for the tip!
The Red Iguana is pretty good as well.
Very interesting 🤔👍
Glad you think so!
Working on my Instrument rating right now, and I find that hand flying is far more enjoyable than auto pilot, however I really like it when it comes to briefing approaches.
Autopilot definitely has its place but being able to have those hand flying skills is so important! How is your instrument going?
@@pilotkaity It’s going really well! I’m just working on time building at the moment, and I’m hoping I’ll be checkride ready by mid/late July!
@@deathby1808 that’s awesome!
your vids popped into my algorithm, and I'm glad they did...very nice to see a great video with a pilot who puts flying first and not the content...however the production is still excellent. I like that you actually show some checklist usage, there are a few high profile guys who do not do that and that is a disservice to the community.
Awesome, thank you! I do edit out a lot of the essential checklists and other callouts etc for time but checklists are obviously a big part of flying so I feel it’s appropriate to show that
Hi Kaity, Great Videos. I love flying the NG! I have about 200 hrs in it. My current clients own the EPIC E1000's so that's what I'm flying across the country. My next flight is SRQ to TMB and then Santa Barbara CA on Saturday. Have you flown an Epic? So fun and fast. FL340 and 320kts. I also fly into KOGD.
That sounds fun! I have fa on the epic but sounds like a good airplane. Do you work for a part 91 operator?
@@pilotkaity I manage both airplanes for the clients and only fly part 91. I was flying 135 in the PC-12 but that's a grind. I'll be out in the NW 6-9-14th.
@@willg967 nice! Sounds like a good job
@@pilotkaity We are definitely living the dream. I'm heading to Santa Barbara on Saturday and when I'm there I'll be riding my bicycle in the mountains. We also have a Gyroplane and Stemme Gliders to play with. I have a fun trip planned from SBA to Oshkosh for AirVenture in July. Do you go to that?
@@willg967 that sounds awesome! I have been to Oshkosh in a while but maybe next year!
Nice ride.
Sure is! Have you flown a Pilatus?
@@pilotkaity I wish. I think the biggest thing I have flown was an A36 Bonanza.
@@cjhickspe1399 very nice plane!
I use to fly a bunch of single pilot IFR under part 91
Nice what kind of plane?
I am new to your channel and I enjoyed it. Is Boise your base? I live in the area but not close to the airport.
I am an rc flyer so I fly at the Nampa model aviator field which is 3 miles away. Safe travels.
Thank you! I fly out of Nampa sometimes too
Go pc12, SLC is home for me
Nice! Do you fly the 12?
Subscribed from India 🇮🇳.Planning for GA in India …will buy Sling TSI for roaming around the world.
Hello!! I’ve heard it’s a good airplane
Awesome video so I fly up Herr in alaska very busy flying, what I'm wondering is do you do any flying near or around wyoming thinking of relocating for family wondering if there is alot of ga and commercial flying in the area I'm planning to still commute to AK for work doing 2 on 2 off shift for a few years
I have flown in Wyoming but there is not a lot of commercial or people in general. Jackson has some options but Wyoming isn’t going to be the most bustling aviation metropolis
@@pilotkaity thanks for the info
Enjoyed your log and agree with others, the captioning was a bit hard to view. If possible it would work a lot better if your responses could be a different color. Thanks for the effort
Thank you for the feedback I agree. This is the first of many future vlogs so they will definitely get better with these tips!
Fun and interesting Fine aircraft. I'm guessing when you dressed up, you flew Part 135, and when you didn't it was no pax so Part 91. Right?
Reading the subtitles I kept seeing "Flattest... flattest." I thought "What? No way! Self-image issues?" Then I figured out the CC is misunderstanding "Pilatus!"
I'd trade-in that software for new!
The subtitles were wild on this 😂
Appreciate the video! I’m a controller and we have lots of pc12/24 traffic in and out. So nice to see what you guys go through.
One word of advice, instead of the background “upbeat music” maybe do a voiceover. That music for 15 minutes can get rather annoying. Have a great day!
I totally agree haha the captions and music didn’t work out too well. This is my first vlog so the editing will get better for sure!
Fun video! If i could give one little bit of feedback, the ICS and radio audio all being on left channel when everything else is stereo was... a bit jarring for someone watching on headphones. It's an easy fix in whatever editing software you use. Just a suggestion, fly safe either way!
Thank you for the feedback! That’s very helpful
I like the PC12 and enjoyed the video. Audio was pretty bad though. Would like to see flight instruments occasionally.
Audio is mostly through the headset which is a challenge. But we will definitely be working on improving it for future videos. I appreciate the feedback! Will add more flight instrument footage in the future as well!
@@pilotkaityAudio is one thing, but the scrolling text is extremely annoying and not at all necessary in my opinion.
@@Gilles45 yes I tend to agree with you that it didn’t work well on this type of video. I’ll be making more vlogs in the future and next one I’ll be taking in this feedback to make it better so I appreciate it!
@@pilotkaity If I understand correctly, you are a CFII... awesome achievement!
@@Gilles45 yes I am! Thank you. I have all the instructed ratings and I really love the process of teaching someone about aviation
QUESTION: What is approximate day rate (pay) for today's flights?
I am a salaried employee but day rates from Pilatus PIC are usually $700-$1500 depending on pilot qualifications, model of airplane, and location of company
@@pilotkaitythe better question is who do we send our SIC bill to for our hard work today?
@@hawkpilot01 hahah better get your invoice in by the end of the month!
@@pilotkaity Invoice? I'd fly (occupy) right seat in a PC12 for free!! Lol. It's on my list if I ever get to that level in aviation.
how is the workload for single pilot in IFR?
I’ve always flown this plane single pilot so it feels normal to me but many charter companies run 2 pilot ops
What school are you instructing out of in BOI?
I work independently! But I am taking students right now if you’re interested send me a message on Instagram!
Spent 7 years corporate flying out of the middle east years ago. Quit different routine but great pay.
That’s awesome what kind of plane did you fly?
Not only do you appear to be an amazing Pilot, but your also amazingly Beautiful.
Wow, thank you!
Personally, this is the dream job compared to airlines.
It’s honestly a great qol. I love it
Thank you for the video, thinking about this type for me in the future so I do appreciate it. But please lower the music and just do away with captions they are really distracting.
I will definitely be doing that on the next one I agree that it’s distracting. Thank you for the feedback!
Good video! It’s SkyWest, not Skyway or Skywiz..
The captions a little wonky on this one for sure 😂
What's with the automatic ATC captions ?!
The captions didn’t work out well for this video lol UA-cam editing is basically like getting a college degree in video editing. It’s very complicated so learning a lot lol next vlog is just going to not have captions
Maybe a bit more of out the window fotage during flight instead of the fix cockpit view wuld had been nice..., definetly less of the on screen dialogue for next time...., great job and congrats on your PIC Job !!!

Heaven pressure looks correct. The AI captioning though
The Ai said some wild things 😂
What a shambles!
What do you mean?
@@pilotkaity The audio is almost unintelligible and the subtitles are your comments and radio transmissions jumbled together. Get some help with the editing as well. Kay Hall (Fly with Kay), would be a good place to start.

Does corporate require more hours as opposed to flying for an airline?
For this job yes. Our insurance is a minimum of 3000 hours but it just depends on the company!
@@pilotkaityright, our requirements are less for first officers. But we don’t hire first officers with less than 2500 hours, because it’s not fair to someone who wants to build time. With us, they only get to fly around 250 hours a year.
@@rtbrtb_dutchy4183 that’s about what we do per year as well
@@pilotkaity Thanks for the information! My goal is to fly corporate.
I wanted to be an airline pilot until I was about 12 years old and realized:

2. corporate pilot = flying limo driver
3. cargo pilot = flying truck driver
Do you fly now or did you go a different route with your career?
@@pilotkaity I would love to fly again, just went into hardware and software engineering, so just getting the money now where I could buy a nice pilatus, although need to buy an island away from the USA and a landing strip and self sustaining organic farm to go with it! Do you own that pilatus?

And you don’t have to wear a tie? That job would be perfect for me! Unfortunately I became an engineer. Don’t have to wear a tie in my job and I’m the field a lot. Should have done my homework.
Engineer is a great career as well! What type of engineering?
@@pilotkaity I’m an electrical engineer. It is a great career don’t get me wrong. But I also had a fascination with flying. During one of those career days at school I talked to an Air Force recruiter about being a pilot. He told me that you had to have 20/20 uncorrected vision. Unfortunately information wasn’t as easy as google back in 1985 and I wanted to be in a STEM (don’t know what it was called back then) field so I chose engineering. Never tried to pursue flying because I was too busy trying to make it as electrical power systems engineer. And the rest is history. I did spend 20 years in the ANG so I did at least get close to airplanes doing that.
how do you make money with one flight a week?
Part 91 companies don’t carry the general public so the purpose of aviation is just for the needs of the company
"Better than the airlines..." -- Fuckin A right it is. 91 or 135 or Medevac is the only way to go. I dunno how people can "long" for the droning monotony of Part 121. Spend years in the right seat being a useless extra appendage. Then "move up" to the left seat so you can watch the AP fly the entire leg. ZZZZZzzzzzzz......Single-Pilot PIC baby - rock on!
Haha very nice! Do you fly medevac right now?
Never Heard of a Delta or FedEx captain leaving for a medevac or corporate job

This was first attempt at vlogging and totally agree about the captions. I’ve got some other vlogs without them
@@pilotkaity Congratulations on posting your first vlog! I'm sorry if I was harsh but for those of us with vertigo problems intrusive captions, excessive quick cuts & wavering images can make viewing videos difficult. I'm working on my first vlog about my chainsaw & it won't be nearly as polished as yours.
Nice video, but compared to corporate, I’ll take the stability/security and of course the pay of the airlines any day over corporate flying, and that is the sentiment of nearly all of us who make the transition.
Definitely pros and cons to both!
I’ve been flying corporate for most of my career. (Been flying for 32 years) Couldn’t be more stable and the pay is great too. I’ve had friends at the airlines who were furloughed multiple times. I never had to worry. The thing is, for those friends, it’s a job. They always complain. For me, it feels like a hobby and I’m getting paid. Absolutely NOT better than the airlines.
Why do you think the airlines are better?
I never had a corporate job that has this pay, this schedule flexibility, this amount of vacation or benefits or flight support (dispatch, chief pilots). They simply do not exist. I am speaking specifically of a major airline.
@@b717 ah I see. My current job is actually that situation but it’s definitely the unicorn part 91 job
The next question is……what’s your definition of…….”better”?
Have you ever flown for a major airline?
@@b717 that’s good that you’ve found an airline you’re happy at. There are corporate jobs that can be just as good of a fit for other people.
Pretty lame with the sub titles

No way I’d pick corporate over an airlines if given the choice. Do what you enjoy but there is no comparison. Less pay and then cleaning up the airplane….no thanks.
Pros and cons to both options for sure but I’m happy with this route
