Pat Flynn, You are nothing short of awesome. You are my fav podcaster thus far. I have been listening to podcasts for 4-5 years now, and have always loved and appreciated everything you share with your listeners. ALL of the AWESOME, FANTASTIC, EXPERT info you send out, for free even, is just ............ fantastic. I cant think of enough adjectives to express how I feel and appreciate everything you do, every day, for your "Team Flynn". Thank You for everything.
I got my first interview coming up tomorrow. And again, Pat, you're spot on with your advice and showering your audience with value without asking for anything in return. When it comes to building an audience and giving value to them I really look up to you to model you as much as I can. Appreciate you so much for guiding me in that regard, hope that one day I can give back as well.
To find nuggets of information like this from years ago is great. This evening I start my first guest show after a run of "mindfulness" shows. Thanks Pat
I’ve done about 50 interviews so far, but I have a big one coming up so I watched this video and there was tons of great information in here. Thanks a lot, I took notes and saved this video to watch again later!
@@jasonfomenky3360 I interview preachers and Bible teachers about their study methods and how they have grown over the years! (Super niche, I know but I'm happy to have found an audience)
This is amazing advice! I think this is also really helpful advice for people that are going to be interviewed on podcasts! Being a podcast guest is the fastest way to build your authority and grow your business or develop your career...but you've gotta be a GOOD guest! Love all of these tips!
Thank you for creating this video Pat. I just conducted my first interview on my podcast and Im thankful that its over with so that I can look back to see where I can grow. Thanks again.
Thank you so much for continuing to put out such great helpful content Pat! I've used your video series about starting a podcast... and I'm in the process of starting my own podcast!! I feel like I'm actually off to a good start because of all of the information you're providing!! Thank you!!
Hey! Believe it or not, the lighting, the lens and the camera settings are more important than the actual camera itself. You can make an iphone now a days look like this. If you're on a budget, try a Canon m50 or a Canon G7X mk ii. If you have more of a budget, look into Canon C100 mk ii's (my personal favorite) I hope this helps! I know this was written 2 months ago, did you see a camera you liked?
Hello how are you doing? First I want to say I appreciate your videos and helping others who is trying to eat in the field of UA-cam and podcast. My question is if you are wanting to start a podcast, and you want to interview anyone is your setting at your own home and if so can the setting be somewhere else and can those ppl come to your house if that's where your setting is?
Appreciate this video. I have an interview podcast I've been doing for 22 episodes. Glad to see some of the things I'm already doing on this list (such as the notebook thing), but I think I'm going to try the standing up thing now. Great video.
These are awesome tips!! I came also looking for tips on exactly what to say to start the interview. I have prepared all the questions, shared them with the interviewee and we have the platform chosen, but wasn't quite sure exactly what to say to start the episode! Thank you for sharing your lessons with us! ~Jennifer Kumar
That's how I felt! I feel like it's really awkward if you just immediately start asking your questions. What did you end up doing if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you so much for this, I’ve done interviews for corporate videos and documentaries I’ve directed, but doing a podcast... I mean; my show, my content... I just want to say your video’s been comforting. Thank you
Hi Pat, I'm just pouring through your videos at the moment. Hope you see, and are able to respond to, these questions that I have; 1.) Am I obliged to share the interview with the interviewees prior to uploading/going live? 2.) Does the interviewee have the right to request a copy of the interview before it is launched? 3.) What are the legal parameters under which podcasts operate?
Great video Pat. Quick q. What’s your best tips in moderating an interview where there’s a tendency to off topic. How much leeway do I have as a podcaster to go off topic.
Hi Pieteo! The simple answer is to be yourself. When you are looking to be on someone else’s podcast, make sure it aligns with you and your brand. A good podcast host will set you up and ask questions to make you sound like a pro! Hope this helps!
@@ThomasJordanTV Thank you Thomas, it does help. I also created a page to send out to possible podcasts. If you have a moment to check it out, would you give me your feedback? writesomethinggreat.com/interview/
Hi Dwayne! Everyone's show is different. My podcast is heavy on the interviews and I don't send them questions bc I want it to be more of a conversation than an interview. Just do what works best for you. Try 10 interviews where you send the questions, then try 10 more where you don't. I hope this helps, keep us posted!
This whole video was AWESOME but DUDE...the advice after minute 9?!?!? Wow. Great stuff! Keep these videos coming! As of lately I've been HIGHLY considering starting a Podcast on the Free App 'Anchor'. Any tips, advice or pointers? IF I start a podcast it will for sure be an informational one, probably focusing on Holistic Healing - Spiritual Development & Recovering from Traumas & Addictions. So what are yalls opinions?
Hey Angie! The best advice I ever got was to just start and make as much content as possible coming out of the gate. Not worrying about launching, equipment and all the other bells and whistles. Just doing to see if you like it and want to invest your time and money into it. Next, have a business plan. Otherwise it's just an expensive hobby. Also, Podbean and Buzzsprout are solid hosting sites. I hope this helps :)
Pat, I had just recorded a podcast and I did exactly what you said in your video. I had recorded off my webcam and it didn't pick up my snowball. I know content is really important . The quality isnt that good and this is my very first podcast. Should I ask him to rerecord or just move on from here? I hate to ask him to do another interview when the interview was around 45 minutes.
Howdy! This was great, thank you. Do you happen to have a checklist for yourself to make sure you prep efficiently? That could be a super resource as a print off :)
Hey Pat! I'm finally sucking it up and doing my first set of interview this month. I've already reached out to 3 people. As always, Your video was super helpful! The only question I have is... do you have Interview Contracts for your guests? Or a legal document with expectations etc. Pretty much saying they give you permission & consent to record them and release the recording/ video.
There is a guy named Gordon Firemark aka The Podcast Lawyer who has a podcast release form. It’s a free download, you should check it out. I hope this finds you well :)
Hi Yolanda! I stay away from phone interviews bc too much can go wrong. They get another call, they drop your call, the phone dies... the list goes on. Look into a website called Zencastr. You don’t need to download anything for you or your guests. It’s also very user friendly! Hope this helps!
