"Once you get fancy, fancy gets broken." LOVE IT!!!
Awesome Video Tim. I bought that Yellow Tech mic based on your recommendation before and its great.
Just started my podcast and thanks for this.
Thank you Tim for exploring your podcast system. The gear and process break down was rich, lots of value for aspiring podcasters.
I love the breakdown of your podcast setup. I especially liked the Pancho.
The video has stopped playing about a minute ago. I am still sitting in silence not believing Tim just shared his complete workflow and gear for FREE. I mean, he only produces the most valuable podcast on the planet as far as I am aware. He must really care about what is valuable for people.
Thanks for this tutorial. I share your link with coaching clients who are beginning the march over the cliff into open space of podcasting their own show. I like the implicit gift you give, too showing people your walking from wound to wisdom.
Thank you for the guidance, Tim. Well done.
Thank you so much for sharing this, so helpful as I get ready to start a podcast!!
World of Vegan - did you get your podcast going?
@@Cluby2 yup! Working on Season 3 now! Plantpoweredpodcast.com :)

2. microphone - YellowTech + backup batteries & SD cards $800 - $1000

Love the transparency of your videos Tim. Keep up the good work
We're just starting out with our podcast, so this is gold! Thank you Tim!
This is the best podcasting advice video out there!
Great episode Tim, I've always wondered how are you achieving such high quality audio in your podcasts and though it was in a full blown recording studio. Good to know that that's not the case and that results can be achieved without a dedicated room in your house. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for always sharing your knowledge.
So glad you shared this! Curious - do you use a dedicated "podcast editing" company, or is it something you have a VA handle?
Great advice, thanks Tim.
Bro! Thank you soooo much for this. I was just asking some friends on Facebook about tips. #Grateful
Super helpful. Thanks Tim 👍🏾
I owe a lot to you Tim. Thank you!
Thanks for the 411. It couldn't have come at a better time, as I was just wondering about your equipment.
Not to get off topic, but I love the hat.
Loved this. Studied audio engineering in college and was curious about not only your equipment but the whole post production workflow :]
This was AWESOME! I am nowhere near the downloads yet it was so cool to see how the processes I've built are actually pretty close to this!! Plus - obviously learned some new things - thank you !
I see you carry lots of XLR cables and a lot of backup cables. I would love to send you two of my cables to see what you think of them. Thank you for all the great content!!
Thanks so much for the tips Tim!
Great video, love the info. Thanks.
Thanks for the great points about podcast setup!
Many thanks Tim ;) hope I'll see you in France :)
Thanks for taking us behind the scenes.
8:00 “Two is one, and one is none.” (always have a backup)

Great technical and practical advice for anyone thinking about doing their own podcast on interviewing.
Great video, great for a legend like yourself to pop up on UA-cam and have you share your tips. I love your books and Podcast!!
Simply brilliant!
Cheers man! This was really helpful.
Great video!! Very helpful Mr. Ferris
Thanks for this Tim.
Great tips and recommendations, thanks for giving us the inside tour of iTunes' No. 1 bestselling podcast!
This is basically my podcast setup! Also use Skype and Ecamm for remote.
I would love to see an update video on your new Podcast setup. From your newer videos it appears you have upgraded your video to 3 cameras and have modified your audio setup. I see that you are using the Dynamic microphones and also lavalier microphones at the same time. I would to know what you are using.
Really helpful. Thank you!
Amazing info to work with thanks Tim!
Great video! Thanks for the insight Tim
Can't believe this was free. I just subscribed and have about forty episodes at Deer Stand Hill on iTunes. Covering Alabama politics. My interviews are about to get way better though. Thanks!
Well that's fancy for me at the beginning but hey :-) different perspectives - Thanx for sharing your wisdoms - really helpful ;-) !!! Greetings from Austria
Some great tips to help bring my podcast to the next level!
Many thanks! Love ya!
Hi Tim. I'm starting a podcast for authors and this video is helping me a lot on the setup and prep work. I have one question: what media hosting website do you use to upload your podcast files? Thanks.
Hi there, Great video. Thank you. Just a quick question, is it okay to use the Shure SM58 mics without stands? The mics we currently have make a lot of noise if they are touched while recording with the H6. We set them up and tell our guests just to speak into them and not touch them. But you can hold and talk into the SM58s while recording?
Help. When you conduct an interview portably..do BOTH the interviewer and guest require headphones in order for the guest to hear the questions being asked and to cancel out the ambient noise as well as avoid having to do a lot of post production work?
Hello Tim, nice video, got some insights, what lavaliere do you use in the video? Is not easier with lavaliere then physical mic?
very helpful Tim
Thanks Tim! Very helpful. How do you go with controlling handling noise when recording into those shure mics without stands?
What camera are you using to record this videos?? I'm sure this is answered somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. Thanks in advance
Thanks, Tim!
Very good presentation on podcasting, there is a lot to learn to be a professional podcaster..
Skype (for Mac) has no audio control- how do you control the audio levels so they’re not hot? Thanks!
+1 for the video setup. This video uses two cameras... how do you jump back and forth between video?
Killin’ it per usual my friend !
Tim, any chance you would post a similar video (with or without the hat, I don´t care) on writing a book? Maybe your advice for someone who writes their first book and believes in incremental innovation and likes getting momentum early in the process.
Second time watching I love this tonnnns of notes!
Helpful video. Can the video zoom in closer to the notes and computer that you're demonstrating in your future videos, would be nice :)
Preparation is the key and always have a backup.
Thanks!
So as a super basic podcast set up h6, xlr cable , mics, sd card to record audio ... that would work? Then use alphonic or audition to correct any audio
Brilliant!
Tim why wouldnt you put links in the description so people could research and buy these products
Cool Thunderbird sticker, you been out to Nellis to see them? I'm sure the would love to meet you!
Anyone know what model of Cabella’s bag that is?
Curious why you didn’t include links to the products..
Does sitting on the sofa to record whilst holding a mic not pick up background noise from sofa etc? Or do you use a boom to hold the mics?
Great info, thanks! But where'd you get the hat?
Tip to your video editor:
Put links in video when you talk about it.
Screenshot whatever tim is showing because viewers can't see shit and leaves us disconnected.
plus if he adds affiliate links for each piece of equipment, more to be gained.
right, leaving opportunity on the table.
Tim I just have to ask - how do you (or your assignee), de-dust that giant (and lovely) dust catcher hanging on the wall behind you?
Odd Question but does anyone know if the Zoom H6 can be hooked up to a computer to record PC sound?
Cabela's makes great stuff for audio/video gear, way cheaper than "official" branded camera gear
no links :(((((
Keep it up!
How about some links? Lot's talked about but no further info
Thx Tim this is GREAT! Do u have any updates in this Zoom age? Thx so much. HUGE fan for yrs. live the 5 bullits
Hello Tim! So you use the Ecamm Skype call recorder? And I'd ask so you record the video itself as well just to have that "eye contact" with the person you are podcasting with?
Carl Markowski based on what he said about taking notes during the call and not distracting the interviewee I'd say no visuals.
What laptop does Tim use? What's the best laptop for podcasting and content creation?
What mic/equipment are you using in this video please? Thanks!
I would like to know the answer to this also :)
why do you upload video files to dropbox instead of google drive?
Brilliant
I am experiencing an OCD attack just looking at the lack of organisation in this bag. Anyway, awesome video, thank you man. PS - Glad to help out with some bag recommendations and organisational tips.
Lol
Any chance of doing a video setup video? Camera, camera settings, lights, etc?
John Callaway Checkout Fulltime Filmmaker
Thats also in the same bag
hi i am just starting to get into a tennis podcast i want to do this is informitive but still i am not that tech savy but would like to do it as simple as i can if you do it remotely as you do is cool or if you do from home do you need speakers to hook up as well just wondering one of the more simple ways to start one on a somewhat low budget. But the more i research the more confusing it can be in a way. But this is very good to see anyway
Brian
How long does it take to prep for one podcast?
pretty cool info
Been reading your books and listening to your voice for 6 years. This is the first time I am watching a video with you in it. Funny right?
Iorana, why do you have a rei miru sticker on your laptop???? just curious.... rapanui symbol??? iorana aroha nui
Is the theory to practice just a few minutes each day and the re-test the baseline? Then build the practice time? When you go back to read for comprehension ... back at base?
Anyone know how to "split the tracks" between interviewer and interviewee during a recorded Skype call? Or any further tips on how to record calls over Skype?
just learned it here : ua-cam.com/video/vGorSGMhHaE/v-deo.html
How do you get away with using sound bites from movies in your intro? Is there website to buy them?
I just started a podcast, and I've just been uploading it to youtube. Do you think this is bad strategy?
everything is very TAN in this video
TLDR: Pack 2 of everything.
Thought he was wearing a headband in the thumbnail lulz
How much does all the recording gear combined cost?
Zoom H6 $300-350. The mics are about $100 each. My guess all together about $600- 1000 depending of you want everything or just parts of his kit.
I was 2:23 into this video before I realized he wasn't wearing a headband.
