Hi Angry! Love your honest, authentic reviews. Wanted to share my experience with the shadow fit. In the past I'd generally gravitated to stiff precise equipment, boards, boots, bindings etc. Old school pipe rider at heart and love to charge and really lay into my turns. Problem was that with my skateboarding background no matter how much I would try to quiet my feet and ankles they just expect to be able to move independently of everything above them. Consequently my knees were taking a beating trying hold everything below them together. In researching binding options (had been riding Burtons of one type or another for years prior) I came across the shadow fit. I theorized that if there was anything on the market that might allow a healthier bit of play for the way my feet wanted to move these might be it. That gamble paid off. A ton less pain after every session and I really don't feel I've sacrificed much if anything in the way of toe to heal performance. In fact, I feel like the way the Kevlar fibers in the shadow fit works, the leverage gives me better toe to heal power (and vice versa ) than I ever got with my previous Malavitas. To that end I'd suggest that if you're the type rider who knows that their feet want a little more play, or if you suspect your post riding knee pain is caused by your feet wanting to move more than your knees would prefer they do the shadow fit is a solid option that won't rob you of much or any binding performance. riding these with a weston backwoods I bought off a friend. After a 20 year departure from snowboarding this was a great set up to get back into my old ways (tele skied). They remind me of my old drakes from the early 2000's so they felt super comfortable. Great review, thanks!
I'm a HUGE fan of the previous version (they're all I use... small mountain, freestyle all the time), their only weakness was the toe strap, in cold weather they were too stiff to properly contour my Salomon boots (so basically the boots they were designed to work with). I modded the binding to accept Burton Capstraps 2.0. Otherwise, they were perfect. I'll be quite happy to try this new version.
I bought these along with a 2023 Rome Artifact 152W as a playful park setup since we dont get a lot of big fast riding on the east coast (PA). I ended up exploding my collarbone out day one at mount snow and just now 2 months later I'm getting to spend some time in them. I'm not a big fan of the toe strap on my Salomon boots, they kind of crush the boot on the pinky toe side but maybe I just need to adjust them. I have yet to really flex them into presses but after 4-5 days on them they are a world of difference from the burton cartel's I was using. I'll try and remember to leave a follow up end of season.
@angrysnowboarder - District Pro Team or Hologram on Dancehaul Pro? I have the Highlanders on my Superpig & BSOD (20th anniversary yr) and love them on both boards so i at least like the Shadow Fit there 🤘 OR as u noted comparable to the Strata (which i plan to put on my Spring Break Powder Twin) gonna use your links!

Sounds like it's not adjusted right.
I hate that they got rid of so much underfoot cushioning and replaced it with hard plastic. I'll stick with the previous year model.
Which Salomon binding in their lineup do you think would pair good with a Super 8 Pro? All mountain/freeriding basically no park.
Probably Hologram.
How’s the toe strap for chunkier boots? M or L for a vans boot (US10.5)
It’s a large for the vans. Going to have to play around with the strap.
