It really is insane what they could do with that. Things like Plok! and Super Mario RPG don't even sound like SNES games, and Plok! only uses five out of the SNES's eight sound channels for all of it's songs except the title screen music.

It's why the SNES has so many damn good soundtracks, it came around at the golden time when the people who were legends of chiptune sound production in the 1980s were still in the business, and they were given the ultimate playground of a chip that could make literally any noises you wanted as long as you had samples of it.

+3rd Gunman They did a re-release of Turtles IV called "Turtles in Time: Re-Shelled" on the 360/PS3 back in 2009. It was fun and pretty, but the glaring omission of the soundtrack was evident.
To this day, Big Apple 3AM is still the best intro stage music to any game I've played. It just gets you PUMPED. And then the game has fuckin' balls to follow that up with Alleycat Blues AND Sewer Surfin'. Like, omg Turtles in Time has one the greatest OSTs in the entire SNES library.
And then followed by arguably the best track in the game, Technodrome. Although I can't forget Skull & Crossbones. What a piece of music. The first 4 tracks will forever be ingrained in my memory!

The Super Nintendo had no limits when it came to awesome 16-bit soundtracks. 4:51, 6:42, 8:43, 18:34 and 20:19 are my personal favorites.
