Fun fact: If you need to farm points in drift events in NFSU2, do a drift, pause and go watch the replay, the game (at least in the PS2 version), is going to count that as a drift, so you can watch it again and again. After that, press start again, and finish the drift.

i like games that let the player narrative be the ending, and don't make a long exit cutscene that completely writes a conclusion after narrativising the whole game, it gives you the space to celebrate your triumph.
I have so many good memories with this game. Nothing says early 2000s like ricing an SUV until it looks like a parade float.
Today's lesson: Cars are way better than SUV's, in real life, as well.
Except for people who actually use it.

SUVs are cool af... Escalades and Hummers were at the forefront of the influential 2000s car scene. Nowadays you have companies like Jeep and Dodge making 700hp street legal racing machines shaped like a fridge... But sexy in a way. SUVs are like plus size women, they weigh more and take up more space so often get overlooked but if you give them the time of day and appreciate them, they have a lot to offer 😂

We've all won a race going sideways across the finish line, or even in reverse.
But it's not every day where we see someone win a race by going over the line up side down and mid roll and landing it right afterwards.

Another thing about SUV events i noticed, was if you complete game without doing them all they just vanish...had it happen once also with all parts the escalade should be the fastest suv.
Same with special events, I had one magazine cover left to do but the game unlocked the final race as I had done all the races required to unlock it, I chose to do the final race first and do the magazine cover as a celebratory thing for beating the game, it vanished afterward and locked my game at 99% complete
This happened to me on my most recent playthrough. My plan was to unlock the final race then buy an SUV to complete all SUV races and then get back to the final race but instead I bought an SUV and there were no events to do so I just switched back to my regular car and finished the final race. I ended up with about 80% game completion if I remember correctly.

Man, i miss NFSU2. NFSU2 and MW/Carbon were the best NFS games and no other recent game gets even close to them.
What keeps you from reinstalling NFSU2 again? Keep coming back to it once every few years

I did this challenge myself once, with the Escalade. It mostly went OK, but drift and closed track events were hell. The final boss was an anticlimactic curbstomp because of all the freeway driving. It seems that to compensate them being unmaneuverable bricks the game lets SUVs have much higher top speeds than the AI.
I miss it when games included the Hummer. Idk why but it's such an nostalgic car now
The H2 is 20 years old. It's the epitome of American excess before the 2008 recession.

@@thisemptyworm4677 If I remember correctly you unlocked it as a 'special' part by completing a certain amount of outrun races in later levels.
When I played this as a kid I put a carbon wide body kit on my r34, only issue (and a major oversight IMO) is that you only get one token to install it, so whatever car you put it on is the only car you'll ever get to put It on in Career mode.
Slapping a widebody on an SUV would have made both the close camera angle and the far camera angle completely useless lol.

I've never finished Underground 2. I tried 4 times but the game wouldn't let me. I'd get to chapter 3 but in the middle of it, I'd run out of races to play. And there's nothing left to do; no ending cutscene or the congratulations message. Both PS2 and PC versions have done this to me.
I've never used the SUVs in this game. I was surprised to see they have icons for those optional races.

Enjoying this, missed playing NFSU2 on the PS2. How could they not do a 3rd. I wish Forza would have the rear mirror view like that on the outside camera,

13:18 very true, I beat NSFU fully about 5 times I think, but never got around to complete NFSU2 because the events just get boring. NFSU just has a better pacing and difficulty curve, it's similar scenario for RCT1 and RCT2, where RCT2 is the far better sandbox game but RCT1 has far better level design and progression.
Imagine we had a NFS Off-road game in this day and age. With only SUVs, rally cars and monster cars and trucks.
I actually forgot about the visual rep that you need by ricing the shit out of the cars ever since I started using "novisualrep" 😂.
I suggested this challenge in chat a while back, and then I thought about it later and realized how SLOW and PAINFUL such an experience would be. I'm sorry Kuru! :(

If you could delete the URL races (or at least shorten them significantly) and cut out the year long drive to races in Jackson Heights this game would be a lot more tolerable
The routes for all of the other event formats are varied enough that I didn’t get bored of them

I have actually Beaten nfs Underground 2 in the escalade. Its fun and rage inducing. I used to play it on The GameCube so yea you already know im an old gamer.
