- Director of the Wellcome Trust Sir Jeremy Farrar, who also advises the government, has told Sophy Ridge he believes we are now past the peak of the first #COVID19 wave and that new infections stabilised around a week ago.

The fear to make a wrong decision can prevent them making any decision.
fear is our bigist issue for the entire planet we should be looking at everything on a global leval as we will eventully start travelling so we need to fight this on a universe attitude as an entirity because we already know that it can be exchange worldwide so as much as we are all hating this lockdown remeber we are stopping this virus speading.
spreading.
Fear of the public making the wrong decision next election. The fact that we’re a democracy has massively hindered our response, as it does so often.
But making a right decision would prevent bad stuff happening. The tory governmrnt making bad decisions preventing good things happening. Where the PPE for the NHS? Oh they dont need that, they just need a clap! They can use 300 BILLION pounds to pay 80 percent of wages monthly but cannot afford PPE? Lol
Watch David Icke
not sure how he can tell since they arent counting the victims correctly
Yep.
💯
In what way are they not counting them correctly (just out of interest)?
A count of people infected or not really doesn't affect the science that he mentions in this conversation. Indeed as with so much else in such aspects of medicine a simple count of those affected in just one aspect of society would probably have almost the same effect as we might get if we spent all of our resources on tracing and counting every single incident.

@@SourceOfKnowledgee Will be interesting to see how it unfolds. We have china still on a soft lockdown as it fears a new wave, parts of Europe coming out from lockdown and the USA trying to come out early.
We may be more advanced but its only useful if those advancements are used. We now have 3 continents doing things very different and only time will tell who was right or wrong.

Question: if 95% of the population has been in lockdown for around a month now, how come there are still 700-900 people dying a day? I thought the incubation period was 14 days.
Yes why all people are dying in UK can't see any recovery in UK. I m worry. Hopefully we will see everyone other will recover soon.
Sheeba Jaffar nearly 600 today compared to 890 yesterday so I’m seeing an improvement
@@BMW_nation that's called weekend lag it's because of the time it takes to report figures. happens every weekend. like last weekend was 400 then.in the week went to 800 odd, this will go from 500 to 1k and over by Thursday if current trends keep on as they are.
Matt Richmond ah ok well thanks for letting me know, wasn’t aware of that but yeah at least we are at it’s peak or near it so hopefully lockdowns will be over soon
@@BMW_nation
As well as the Lag, it's incorrect to take two consecutive days and extrapolate from there that cases have peaked.
We would have to look at the data for a number of days, maybe a number of weeks, and see a noticeable and significant downward trend in cases.
Data fluctuates naturally, so it's the trends that we look for, not just a single day (or couple of days) increase or decrease.
Once that is consistently observable (e.g. cases don't start trending up again), we can then assume we have peaked.
Soon after, once we can be confident that it won't spread much, then lockdowns should begin to be relaxed.

This is a report from the UK Parliament and their Department For International Development (DFID)
THE GATES FOUNDATION
59. The Department says its most significant engagement is with the Gates Foundation, with whom it has collaborated over the last ten years on a wide range of projects and programmes, especially those in the health, agriculture, financial services and sanitation sectors. The DFID-Gates relationship has involved working together on global advocacy for international development issues, such as partnering with the UK's G8 Presidency on Africa in 2005, and launching a new push for Polio Eradication with the UK Prime Minister in January 2011.
Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) Multi-donor fund. UK Government, followed by the Gates Foundation, were the largest contributors to the June 2011 replenishment
The Gates Foundation told us, "We have a good relationship with DFID". They emphasised the frequent contact between the two agencies, with Jeff Raikes calling it "a regular relationship, with regular interaction. Many of our staff will be in contact as regularly as weekly."[117] The Foundation told us that it and DFID had now "identified contact points to co-ordinate the relationships between our organisations".[118]
SMALLER FOUNDATIONS
65. Gates' experience of regular contact with DFID was not shared by smaller, UK-based foundations. The Baring Foundation said DFID "has tended to concentrate on relationships with the largest funders such as the Gates Foundation, the Wellcome Trust and Comic Relief".[119] The Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), whilst in many ways highly complimentary about DFID as an organisation,[120] highlighted a problem raised by a number of other foundations: the availability of DFID staff time to engage with them.

I don’t understand why they don’t talk about medicines that can help ppl with the virus. It’s all about the vaccine.

They have started trialing the bcg injection in Australia as a possible vaccine...remember that injection we all got at highschool
Yes I agree they should be looking for medicine to cure people then look for a vaccine
Mia Curran InJeCt Me nOW💉🐑
To all the comments thinking there is “medicine” for a “cure”. The is none. This is a virus. The only defence against it is your own immune system. Any drugs just assists your body to fight the virus, hence vaccine gives your immune system a head start on the virus.
I don't trust this guy, nor do I trust Sky news, the Tories and now Labour...
Does this tell us anything about them or about your paranoia?
@@beatnuts1uk My paranoia is based in reality, having watched Boris Johnson on live TV telling us we were going to be intrepid and go down the 'herd immunity' route despite there being no vaccine, made me realise right then that my government was ok with millions of people dying from a deadly virus. FIRST wave? Oh no...
& how many waves will we have?
Passed the peak, not "past", and what is the point in telling us we have passed it, if it is only the first wave.
This is just me postulating but:
'Wave' implies a series of peaks and troughs in activity/infection rate of the virus. A potentially predictable pattern that we can use to prepare for a resurgence in the future, whether it be a pre-emptive lock down or incentive to pump more resources into schemes and programs to combat the virus and others that may emerge in the future.
Or it's the media trying to instil some sense of hope even as conditions remain stagnant.

Absolutely.
Lockdown and control measures should only be relaxed when we are confident that the virus will die out in a short time.

@@harrylawson6293 Sorry, I should clarify.
When I say "Die out" there, I mean that it will spread so little that eventually there will be no new cases, and the only cases will be ongoing.
Herd Immunity, much like other viruses (E.g. Common Cold Viruses, Influenza), I think is unlikely. We just have to get used to it and stop it's spread so that (like for example The Black Plague (Yersinia Pestis), which still infects a few thousand per year), there are so few cases that there is no concern of it spreading and we have treatments for the cases that do occur.
How about Sweden with their complete lack of lockdown and 1500 deaths?
A vaccination will come at some point to help mainly the elderly like the flu. But covid 19 is going nowhere. The lock down is to help the NHS while the initial spread is contained.

guy on here: we're past the peak
me: does that mean we can start going out again soon? :D
Of course I don't expect things to actually get back to resembling normal until next year but will be happy to just be able to go out anywhere for more than an hour or two.
Me 🤣
Anyone can go out for more than an hour or two as long as they keep enough distance, so they don't risk a situation where it can transmit from person to person.
@@globetwig4401 Thats why I only stick locally at the min and and only go out for a couple of hours tops at the min to limit contact with potentially infected people or objects. What I mean't by going out is going out all day and explore new places and being able to go work etc. Obviously noy gonna happen all at once.

I believe that this is a sign for the world to invest in research and health care rather than waisting money on weapons
Past the peak how can they say that when death tole is still riseing
It’s still rising and will continue to but the rate of death is slowing down. Which means it’s past the peak
Why first wave like they are sure there's going to be a second wave
Its summer time, the temperature will sustain the virus, were it winter it would die off much faster, they will lift the restrictions to save their precious economy and there will be a second wave.
Din Djarin
Correct. The majority of, yes.
@@joolsfreeman4359 Lol this virus is not seasonal ...
Because the odds of the virus just dying out now is extremely unlikely. The UK couldn't even handle it when there were 20 confirmed cases, let alone thousands confirmed and who knows how many unconfirmed.
Most pandemics tend to have second waves
Oh dear... Jenny Harries wasn't that impressed with this was she! I guess the official government woof woof's don't like the general public being thrown a bone of hope!
So why are they opening loads of hospitals !?
VACCINE:
YES OR NO?
AND WHY?
Nope!
Just look at the active cases chart, still growing.
Jonas E that’s because the uk aren’t publishing the amount of people recovering
@@ellie3594 thats not how it works mate
That's because we've done so few tests. Millions of people in the UK probably have it. Remember people who have been tested may have got it weeks ago because I think it takes about 3 to 4 weeks to recover.
Data controlled by the W.H.O and John hopkins uni. Funded by Gates. Control the data to manipulate the virus. Covid 19 hasn't been isolated therefore the testing is useless. Massive scam.
@@gl6565 fAkE vIrUs. Ah yes, so I guess everyone who's died is just pretending. Paid actors were they?
First wave
Shouldn’t it be passed the peak? Is past alright?

I told all my friends I see them in 2021 😂😂😂
We have past the peak.
It's all downhill from here.
No, this is only the first wave. Sadly, until the virus de-evolves into being a bat pathogen and/or a vaccine is formed, tested and approved, we will receive new waves as we re-import the virus from other countries with an increasing number now. Even if the goverment actually manages it well after the virus is beaten, lockdown will not be lifted until we have a proper solution to the virus.
We're past the peak of the first wave, its that supposed to be reassuring ?????
Not really, no. Basically a second wave would attack the population and even if the government reinforces lockdowns, then there would probably be a third wave and the country probably wouldn't be able to go into lockdown again, so in the long and short of it, coronavirus is unstoppable. Deaths can be reduced but definitely not stopped. 100s of 1000s if not millions will die in the UK even with measures. Measures will probably save half the people though.
@@mrl1760 millions wont die in the uk. Don't be ridiculous.
@@paulhayhurst Thankyou sir Some people just want to scare millions i dont know about millions dying from Covid 19. Its scaremongering Jenny
@@paulhayhurst it can happen. The death rate in 70s is 20% and in over 80s is 31%. If just half of them get infected, the death number will already be in the millions.
We were so confused about our strategy, we wasted the initial 10 days with the concept of 'herd immunity', now the same chief health advisors lauding us for the success attributed to social distancing
