never want to play a vampire game but now thanks to this i will have to take the dive into darkness LoL. That and the fact VR is so awesome. Cant wait for more good ones its almost like we are kids again with a new toy.

Honestly for 30 bucks this looks like a steal. If we can get a steady stream of games likes this moving forward VR will be on a solid path!
Well. We have been getting a steady stream of great games on the psvr2! Now with quest 3 alot more will come next year. If only xbox would make one and give Sony the nudge to actually communicate with fans, we'd be golden
NO. This game might be worth $10, but it is NOT worth $30. Not at all. If crap like this keeps selling for $30 VR will be dead within a decade! There's no future it THIS is the kind of stuff we get. Texture quality is worse than games from 20 years ago, gameplay is lackluster, and it isn't even a Vampire the Masquerade game. It's just a generic stealth game that they secured the rights to use the VtM brand on, and managed to shoehorn some VtM words into. Like taking the same teleport-to-move locomotion as nearly every other VR game out there, and calling it the "Celerity" discipline.
After seeing your review I will be definitely getting this and it has decent length campaign for a vr game.

wow. must admit, this game was not AT ALL on my radar. but i'm a big fan of stealth, and this is looking a bit like DISHONORED: VR VAMPIRE EDITION. i went from zero interest to sign me tf up over the course of this review. thanks bryan!

Deus Ex uses guns and had an insane amount of combat, this isn't even close

Naturally, a small, indie VR game isn't going to be comparable to a huge AAA developed flatscreen game, but I think the point that Shapeshifter was making is that Deus Ex, like the other titles mentioned, gives you a great deal of choice how you go about completing a level.
You can be extremely stealthy, or go totally gung ho

@@twitcherthesingleplayergamecat I know, was just saying that Deus Ex isn't the same genre as Dishonored or thief in my opinion. It's more of a Shooter rather than a stealth game
@@Sincerity1993Actually, you're wrong. Not sure about the predecessors, but Deus Ex HR(except the bosses) and DE: MD can be played totally stealthy, without killing a single enemy. You'll even get the 'pacifist' trophy for that.

It's so weird because before launch, I thought Foglands looked amazing and Vampire looked kind of meh. Just goes to show you that it's hard to judge a game just by a trailer.

Excellent review, pretty much nailed it. It's an enjoyable game - and I'd forgotten this team did Apex Construct, would love to see that in PSVR2.
That framerate had me nervous, glad to hear in game it's fine
When the game doesn't use reprojection it tends to look choppier in the capture. I've played a few hours of this and, with the day one update, the framerate is fine.
Plot engagement may also have to do with how invested in the Vampire the Masquerade setting you are.
I'm betting you're right about that. The mark of good writing in established IPs the ability to satisfy fans while also roping in newcomers --- so this didn't hit the mark completely, but hopefully VtM fans enjoy the story more than I did! :D
It reminds me of the dishonored franchise. Which is a great thing to compare to. Excellent review

They've taken us to bargain town with this price tag compared to prices for other comparable games such as Journey to Foundation.

It almost looks like a sort of Vr version of Dishonored with Vampires.
Damn the social screen output on this game looks rough very choppy i know its not like that in Headset but i imagine people not looking too deep into it are going to be put off thinking performance is poor

I realy like the game although I did encounter a bug that almost made me start over 1/4 game thru. My save point spawned me way outside and above the map. Luckily I was able to drop into the map just right and glitch my way back in.
Great review, thanks Brian. For what it’s worth for others, I found Wraith the Oblivion Afterlife really, really scary. Maybe not as scary as Resident Evil 7, but still right up there, but of course, I’m a big 🐔.

Hi! I've seen a comment mentioning they couldn't move the crossbow to their left hand. Are the weapons locked to your right hand and is there much need for them?
i had I weird stutter bug at the beginning of the game, right after the opening cutscene where you get to control the player, pick up the phone. It just starting stuttering like crazy and I couldn't move the character at all. Restarting the game fixed it, but it was not a good first impression lol.

The setting and gameplay makes me wish they'd remake the Thief games I in VR, at least the first 3 Thief games.
I trust your judgement as you have been playing VR on multiple platforms for a long time just like myself. I still use my kickstarter dev kit oculus rift for my sim rig when I play iracing lol. If not for you I would be buying alllll these games
This is a buy for me. Unique , not super linear , progression , using the hardware options , first time in a while !

Does anyone else getvthis bug where you cant select the disciplines? Im literally stuck using the first one because i cant select the new one i got and its frustrating.
Still bugs going on😢. Was enjoying it but I was getting flashing lights. Couldn't play like that. I'll give it another go tonight.
Big Vampire fan here so this is a no brainer.
Some games have good social screen output and are not so good in the headset. This game has a weaker social screen and apparently looks good in the headset. If this is a real trade off for devs, I'll take no social screen at this point. I figured the social screen would be just one eye also rendered to the tv and so cheap to display but performance seems all over the place for each game.
Great Review. Normally my interest in the dialogue here would not be that big either but once you find out that if you have the intimidating skill and use it there is a chance of opening new levels.
Any word on what makes the Platinum trophy hard? Is it the pacifist runs?
Played a hour or so and it looks pretty good so far. Story looks not really interesting but gameplay is solid enough. Graphics might be better - textures is low for example but at least there are high resolution and FPS (devs said about native 120). AI is not clever enough too.
I’m pumped to hear your thoughts on this game. I was really worried with the state of the battle Royal and past updates of bloodlines 2 that world of darkness wouldn’t get it’s just do. Glad to see that this is worth it and the current updates on bloodlines 2 gives me hope.

I would think that being a vampire would have you at least running across rooftops if not flying. It seems like you're locked to just beneath the eves in this one. Stealth is fine but I guess what I want from a vampire game is more action-orientated, like that DLC for Infamous that turned you into a vampire. Great review, and I'm sure I'll be picking this one up.

It's a personal preference I think. Hitman is obviously more realistic and you can set crazy traps to kill people. But I'd rather have supernatural powers and take people down that way. :D

Disappointing for me so far. I expected to develop as a vampire completely from scratch and not that I already know 5 abilities right from the start. The controls are very clumsy in places (picking up objects at a distance is pain in ass).
I’ll wait for a deep sale. I just want a game that I could play for months, not just a week.
My biggest issue is that the vampire feels weak. If you get spotted, there is no last resort for combat. You’re pretty much dead unless you run and hide which in itself is weird because you’re a powerful vampire
Oh man I just punch them in the face when I get in trouble lol works every time! Oh and eventually you'll be able to upgrade your invisibility to work even AFTER you've been spotted!

This is way more fun than Hitman imo. I'd much rather be a vampire with supernatural powers than just a human setting traps. :D
@@WithoutParole I'm almost certainly biased, because I've been a fan of Hitman ever since the very first game in 2000 and I've played every single game in the franchise since then, but Hitman: World of Assassination is amazing and without question, the most fun I've ever had in VR.
But I get it. It's not for everyone. Every level requires huge amounts of patience, practice and dedication to master and get the most out of - it has way less 'instant gratification' than most games, so I can totally understand why some people wouldn't find it fun, or could even find it extremely tedious.

This actually looks quite good, getting to many games in my library to get round to to be honest. I'm enjoying using VR for some light exercise also, creed sees to that. But I noticed box to the beat on the store, nobody has reviewed it yet?! Not worth a look?
I want to get psvr2 really bad but I haven't really wanted to have to essentially buy a second PS5 to do so lol. $550 is kind of alot to do when your poor like me lol.
I feel you. It sure is a lot of money (but totally worth it, imo. Ever since I first got the OG PSVR1, I have barely played any flatscreen games, and I ordered PSVR2 day one - not regretted it for a second)

I left for a mission, and when I got to the entry to Venice, I couldn't walk forward. I, of course, made sure other aspects worked. I then reloaded, and I am now loading above the map. I caught it on livestream, but I won't post the link as I don't want to use your channel for views. That is not my goal. I just have come to respect your opinion, and maybe you know some people I dunno...
Sounds like a random bug. I'm glad you submitted it to FTG so they can work it out. Luckily I didn't encounter it but I did experience a handful of my own bugs so I'm expecting quite a few patches to drop over the next few weeks!

I find it quite shocking that the graphics look exactly the same as Quest 3 - based on the reviews I've watched.
I was never a big Dishonored fan, and this looks like a discount version of that. Nice to see more gameplay styles coming to VR though.
I just hope they stuck true to some of the original VTM lore.
This is one of the rare times where I strongly disagree with one of your reviews. The game was a buggy mess for me. There was some fleeting moments of fun interrupted by intense frustration caused either by bugs or poor game design. Gaming Nexus highlighted the many flaws very well in their review. 6/10
Hey! I 100% agree and the review process for me wasn't a good one. When I played through I encountered some bugs and framerate issues but the day 1 patch fixed a LOT of those for me. Which meant I had to replay certain parts for new impressions etc (causing my review to be delayed.) But what I didn't realize was that the Day 1 patch also created a TON of new bugs that I only heard about from the community. I stand by my opinion that the game is great and has awesome stealth mechanics but yeah --- it's currently in rough shape
@@WithoutParole Yeah reviewers are in a tough spot with most games getting a day 1 patch. It's hard for me to try and analyze the quality of the game behind the jank, but I definitely think I would have enjoyed the game a lot more if it was a smoother experience. 3 hours in I got a game breaking bug that wiped all of my skill tree progess and I was left to try and play the rest of the game with no skills. At that point, on top of many other bugs, I threw in the towel and deleted the game.
I really wish PlayStation's return policy was like that of the Quest or Steam. I would have returned it after the first 30 minutes and waited to see if it got patched properly

Thanks for the review, a shame there’s reprojection. I’ll be getting on Quest 3. Doesn’t make sense that these Quest games have reprojection or performance issues on the PS5 when they’re butter smooth on Quest.
On the flip side it's a lot of pop in on the Quest 3 version and lower graphics

@@SC0RPI0NFURY that’s true, but I’d almost always take a smooth framerate over resolution, especially for a vr game.
There’s reprojection on quest anyways so I’m getting on psvr2 haha. I think the oled/haptics, and better graphics will outweigh it
My god this game sucks SO BAD!!! It has nothing to do with Vampire the Masquerade. Calling your teleport mechanics "Celerity" doesn't make it a VTM game, and having a rudimentary skill tree doesn't constitute "character development." Plus a couple bullets and you're dead. Anyone who's ever played Vampire knows how ludicrious this is. And using a couple disciplines, whoops you're out of blood. It's almost as if the devs had never played VtM before.
And not to even get started on the graphics and sound. Lackluster dialogue, and why are there SO MANY native English speaker NPCs speaking perfectly fluent and largely nonsensical repeat lines using American English in Venice of all places? The art style is strangely cartoonish, almost like comic book style, which really doesn't fit the World of Darkness. And the texture quality? Jesus what is this 1995? VtM Bloodlines had better textures, and that was made in 2004.
Definitely glad I'm not a World of Darkness fan then, apparently it allowed me to enjoy this much more than I would have otherwise! :D
@@WithoutParoleProbably, this was kind of painful to experience TBH! I mean vampires treat bullets as bashing damage for one thing, which automatically means they take half damage, and can make a soak roll against whatever remains. It's not at all uncommon to empty a clip on a neonate vampire and they don't have a scratch to show for it. And Celerity is supposed to grant a full extra action per point you have. Celerity 3 means you have 4 full actions per turn, at full dice. So spend your first action focusing on dodge, let the mortal spend their action on attack, then you've got all your extra actions as uncontested attacks. For 1 blood point. Assuming you had a full stomach, you can still do that 9 more times before you have to feed.
And that's with a starting character.
The vampire named "Justice" in this game makes even thin-bloods look badass by comparison. I really really think buying the rights to use VtM was a terrible move on a title like this. It's like expecting to see a pro baller show up, and in reality you get little league. The game itself is OK as a title, especially when you consider it's just mobile VR too. But they set the bar WAY too high by calling it a VtM game. It'd be like if Bioware released Mass Effect 4, and it was a friggen browser game.
Is full arm IK an option you toggled on and off?
Yes! I used both. The arms look cooler than just hands but they really need to fade out after the elbow because the shoulders get into your view every so often and are distracting.
