Fitting the Termignoni High Exhaust to My Desert Sled

  • Okay, so as stated in the video, there seem to be two variations of this exhaust. I wasn't aware of this when I bought my one. The advert just said "Fits only Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled model".
After noticing that the supplied mounting bracket came with an M8 bolt and that my frame had an M10 thread I did a little digging...
Early model Sleds are Code: 96481231A
    Updated model (2019+) Code: 96481241B
Other than the mount being drilled to accommodate the M8 bolt I didn't have any real issues making it fit. Yeah, the heat reflector plate was a pain, but everything seems to line up nicely.
Still. Don't take the risk and avoid any potential dramas by selecting the correct serial number for your bike.
The exhaust is a well made quality item. Not a heavy exhaust by any means. But definitely heavier than the very lightweight stock pipes. Mainly down to the fact that there's a lot more to it!
It's a little deeper in tone. But not by a lot. It just doesn't sound so 'tinny' as stock on idle.
Sorry, I'm having trouble finding the right words to describe what I hear.
I've already filmed the stock exhaust for the comparison video and will hopefully get time soon to film the Termi part for comparison.
Going from what I've heard already I think that there won't be much in it. It's pretty quiet.
Saying that, 80% of the reason I bought the Termignoni was for the look of it. That's what drew me to it while trawling through the Internet. And for the money I paid I don't feel cheated.
I wonder if the official Up-map would also have come with a de-cat option or is it only for the slip-on?
The catalytic converter is definitely holding back some bark. They always do.
Here's a link to the M10 to M8 sleeves that I used. Others are available: www.amazon.co....

Them Tamagochi exhausts always look good on a Ducati 🙂

I have the exact same exhaust and also a race slip on by Termignoni. I have also up mapped with the supplied key. The slip-on race exhaust sounds great. It fits by de-catting, and it is light weight too. However, the high mount slip-on sounds less like Termi, on a long run, it is comforting to the ear, and I use it with the upmap key just fine. In the end, I decided to go with this high mount version and sell the race slip on.

Ah, thank you for getting in touch. This is the kind of info that I'm looking for.
Yeah, I've had a couple of bikes with too loud exhausts in the past. Okay for a short ride but they can wear you down if you travel further afield.
I expected it to be quieter because it's an 'official' Ducati option. But I have to admit it's even quieter than that!
Have you also added an air filter? I wonder if that would help?

    • @SuchanBajracharya
      @SuchanBajracharya 4 місяці тому +1

I suggest sticking with oem paper airfilter, good for the engine. I did have a K&N airfilter, but where I live and drive is too dusty, so I swapped it back. I found performance and sound benefits now. One note with this exhaust is that it can get hot. The shorter race exhaust is cooler. But that heat is exactly what you need in a colder environment 😅 Sound wise, this high mount is actually quieter than stock, its primary purpose is offroading, and it also looks like a proper ADV! @@SuchanBajracharya Haha! Well in that case, at least one of my pillion's hands will be warm.
We don't get a lot of dust here in Scotland. Even when it's dry enough we don't have many dirt tracks that we can (legally) explore.
Thanks again for getting back to me with the advice and for the sub.
I'm off to check out your channel next Suchan.

It's different, and as you said Chris it's well put together. Bit quieter than normal for a Termi though. I think it needs a decat to get the best out of it sound wise. That's too much hassle come MOT time though.

Hi Jamie. Yeah, it's a fun bike. Having fun fettling it at the moment.
The song is called Train Ride by Alex Khem.
I'm not sure if it's publicly available though. You'll need to try a Google search. I have an account with Epidemic Sound that I use to source all of the music for my videos and found it on there.

Morning Richy. Very hard for me to tell at the moment. It's still really chilly here and I've not been stuck in traffic any time that I've been out. The massive catalytic converter is still in place so I reckon there will be lots of heat soaking up from that.
