    What makes Gregg Popovich a great coach?

    • @johnpestano22
      @johnpestano22 6 років тому +8

      his ability to relate to his players away from basketball and coaching the human side of a person. he understands player's ability but he doesn't let his player lose themselves be you but follow his principles he's a heart to heart coach.

      Treating all of his players with the same standard.He demands the same effort and standards from his top man,to the last man on the bench.

    Bron would look cool in the silver and black getting coached by pop is a once in a lifetime chance Bron should go there. they have a great system and Bron would play efficient basketball so he can play longer.

      John Pestano exactly. He wouldnt have to expell so much energy

    • @johnpestano22
      @johnpestano22 6 років тому

      yeah i mean Bron said he wants to play long enough when his son gets to the league they can play together that would be cool father and son on the same team i don't think that will happen but it's possible. but for that to happen Bron would have play less min going forward be efficient. the load shouldn't be so much just go out there and do you're role in a limited game plan.

    Pop takes an average player and makes them into superstars Phil Jackson coaches superstars no comparison

    • @Patawon
      @Patawon 6 років тому +2

      Emerson Valle what average player did Pop make into a superstar? He takes average players and makes them legitimate contributors but every star he’s had already had star potential... he didn’t make Tim or David... he helped Kawhi, Tony, and Manu blossom but they were all very talented with high ceilings...

    • @sanantoballa4834
      @sanantoballa4834 6 років тому +6

      Jamal Wallace A guy like Tony Parker wouldn't have lasted as long as he did if it wasn't for Pop.
      Of course all these guys have talent but you can say that about a lot of the league.
      Since his first year in the league I knew Kawhi would be a future star but he surpassed expectations. He was a very raw player early on but he developed into a superstar partly because of the Spurs/Pop.

    • @AgentJ2007
      @AgentJ2007 6 років тому +1

      Jamal Wallace duh, everyone has talent in the NBA. Parker and manu would still be in the NBA but there is no way Parker or manu would be an all star without pop's coaching.

    • @Patawon
      @Patawon 6 років тому +1

      AgentJ2007 that’s not true... but whatever you say

    • @AgentJ2007
      @AgentJ2007 6 років тому +2

      Jamal Wallace dudes, it's a fact. You can't prove your statement. If Parker and Manu had such obvious talent, why did they get drafted so late? Why did no one else saw their talent but popovich did ? Popovich was the very few that could turn them into stars.

      I don't want to disrespect Phil, because he had so much success, but there is a huge knock on him. He needed HOF to All Star level players to run his triangle offense, it stands to reason that he didn't really make the players that played for him better. When he was with the Knicks they were terrible. Not saying that they should have made a Finals or won a Finals, but they should have been better than they were and they weren't. I have to knock him for that. Greg Poppovich worked with different lineups and changed the lineups based on the team's lineup. He was able to adjust so easily and still come out on top. He further proved his legitimacy this year. One could argue he faced similar issues with Jackson in that he had to have All Stars to win. Well this year Leonard went down, Duncan is no longer with the team, and both Manu and Parker are complete shells. Aldridge was the only All Star he had, he took the Spurs to the playoffs with a dinged up roster in the stacked West. So I put Pop ahead of Jackson.

    Pop ruined his legacy by getting involved in politics. He abandoned half of the Spurs fan base.

    In the words of chroniclesofjudah144 only way Lebron comes to the spurs is if pop says your wokeness is more woke than my wokeness it’s your team... 😂 otherwise spurs not a good fit to me

      classicranger46 Spurs are a great fit. Despite the narrative people like to push, LeBron is a player that makes the right basketball play.
      Like Stephen Jackson said, Pop loves that. Pop lets players make decisions on the court, and even draw up plays themselves.
      There's a reason LeBron and Pop have so much respect for each other. They understand the game.

      SanAntoBalla still I don’t think it would be a good fit but that’s my opinion we’re entitled to disagree
