    My brother actually did community service w/ Stephen since he was on probation at the same time Stephen was for the Malice at the Palace. The stadium for the Pistons is in Auburn Hills is in Oakland County (not Detroit which is in Wayne County) so if your on probation in Oakland County you do community service in a city called Pontiac where everyone in Oakland County on probation goes to a building in Pontiac on the weekends and they split people in like 15-20 people groups and put them on buses to take them to their community service jobs like cleaning parks, churches, goodwill stores, etc. My brother happened to get placed w/ Stephen and said he was a really good guy, would occasionally bum smokes from him, and would tell the craziest stories. My bro said on his last day of community service he bought steaks and drinks for everyone (including the PO's) and basically had a BBQ. He said he talked to everyone and was real down to earth. Dude gets much respect, especially now knowing what he's been through.

      @@philipdolan2191 I agree. And a lot of people in the expensive seats, close to the court, unload because they think they are untouchable. And most of the time they are. They say the foulest things, especially when they are under the influence, to get attention, to make others laugh around them and to get a reaction from the players. It takes a lot of restraint not to snap when it's constant and loud.

    I think Stephen Jackson got a bum rap here in Indiana. The fans called him a thug, but that just isn't true. They didn't really look at the facts of these incidents. Donnie Walsh, Rick Carlisle and Don Nelson all love him. The Pacers only traded him away to Golden State (and got totally screwed for years to come) because the fans were up in arms. The two incidents he was involved in were both coming to the aid of his teammates Ron Artest and Jamaal Tinsley. Everyone knows Ron Artest / Metta World Peace is extremely volatile. Jamaal Tinsley was a knucklehead who had a knack for getting into bad situations. I wouldn't describe Tinsley as a thug either, but he certainly made his share of enemies in multiple incidents. All Stephen Jackson did at Club Rio was fire a warning shot into the air...after getting hit by a car.

    • @classicsurvivor

    • @danieldougan269
      @danieldougan269 9 років тому +7

      grigsolve Regardless of the basketball issues, Stephen Jackson had a reputation as a thug here in Indiana. The reputation was really not earned...it was because of the brawl in Detroit and the Club Rio incident, but in both cases he was trying to do the right thing. The fans forced the Pacers to make a bad trade with Golden State just to get rid of him. It set the Pacers back for years. They had to make a trade for publicity reasons, not for basketball reasons.

    • @classicsurvivor
      @classicsurvivor 9 років тому +1

      Daniel Dougan Not earned??... I would say running into a crowd and throwing punches in the crowd, and discharging a gun into the air potentially killing someone innocent three miles away is earning a thug rap with good reason. Also, the fact that he was charged & convicted, and still has no idea (in this interview) why it wasn't acceptable to fire a gun into the air pretty much shows he's an idiot.

    • @danieldougan269
      @danieldougan269 9 років тому +8

      grigsolve He ran into the stands in Detroit to pull Ron Artest OUT. He was trying to HELP and diffuse the situation, but then the fans went on the attack, so he had to defend himself and his teammate. Totally justified. And he fired a gun into the air as a warning because he was in very real danger. He didn't shoot anybody. Again, totally justified.

    • @classicsurvivor
      @classicsurvivor 9 років тому

      Wow, you sound like as big of idiot than him. NO, they were not justified actions, or he wouldn't of been convicted of a crime both times. That's how it works in the real world dummy. He ran into the crowd and started throwing punches. He discharged a gun into the air within the city limits. You don't do that. You shoot someone that is about to kill you, or you don't shoot at all. That's what justified means. Go back to school.

    Captain Jack is the MAN!! - the nba needs him. And as for the Ron Artest after the brawl quote - i read it on wikipedia and thought it must be another wiki-fabricated story! Although on wiki it adds - 'and the conversation convinced an amazed Jackson and Pollard that Artest "wasn't in his right mind to ask that question".'

    I'm fucking glad he ain't sitting here saying "I'm sorry for my actions" and blah blah blah like most people would do. He's glad it happened and only regrets losing the money. I respect that.
