Great adaptation! I haven't played the game personally (yet) but I have watched and REWATCHED streamers who have played it for us! They did AMAZING, and even filled in some blank spots in the beginning of the game! Small changes to the beginning, but that's fine, as this is a show, not a game that needed a tutorial section haha.
Well if you guys dont know, the viruse here comes from a fungus call cordycep, this fungus is real and it only infect insects not humans thank god, what i like from the begining is this scientific detail they gave to everyone about viruses coming from fungus. Lets hope this doesnt happen in reality with fungus.
Btw the part about ants being controlled is 💯 true. Creator of the games based the infection off of it. Hope you enjoy the series and potential haunting news
Unlike 1968 our ability to treat fungal diseases has improved dramatically. The challenging part is fungi and human cells are very similar, so the treatments we do have if very toxic to the body and can only have limited use.

I think it's a lot of fun watching reactions where people are going in blind and not knowing the story at all. The game literally changed me back when it came out, and from the looks of this show so far, they're doing an amazing job following the original story.
Tommy is the combat veteran with military experience. And he went to jail because when he stopped the guy that was harassing other people, he didn't hold back and knocked the guy out. He wasn't causing trouble. He just has a strong sense of duty to protect.
But he had caused trouble in the past: "It's not my fault *this time.*" I get the feeling he was a bit of a ne'er do well for a while after he came back from the war (maybe his own PTSD or the reentry problems a lot of Desert Storm vets experienced) and Joel is giving younger brother Tommy some stability through work and pulling him into the family (he's got a key to the house).

The part with controlling Sarah while in the truck...you could move her around to look anywhere, so, it really nailed the feeling of "WTF?!? I'm seeing it, but WTF is going on?!?!?!?" That sign for northbound Austin, southbound San Marcos was how we gamers all found out this started in Austin, TX, where I leave. Which is badass. They flushed out a lot of the beginning, which I ain't even mad at. I am an asshole about keeping an show/movie as close to 100% as the book/source material, but, I approve of TLOU by HBO like....96%. I do not like what they changed about Tess's injuries and how they handled Robert's gang. The game was hella better, but, it was also the tutorial, basically.
I mean it’s adaptation to begin with so it’s not going to be shot for shot remake of the game. It’s something we gamers can appreciate, yet make it more welcoming to people who haven’t played them

And the thing with the mask is that the spores were not possible in a realistic way, that there were spores just in some closed places when there's a world fungus epidemy, so they would be all over the air in the planet, I think they replaced it with another element but idk what it is yet.

Wtf are you talking about? The whole reason adaptations are trash most of the time is because they don’t stick to the source material. This show adds and changes some things so it’s better for tv and newcomers while still sticking to the games events. This is by far the best video game adaptation that’s ever been made lol
I would hate if any adaption didn't add anything and just went 1:1 by the source material (that doesn't mean they should change the whole thing but adding original stuff to expand is all a good idea) and they also needed to add stuff in this case because in game you get attached to character by playing as her but here YOU DON"T PLAY so they needed to do thinks to get the viewer invested... but you do you buddy ig
