Black Panther for Best Picture
"Doctor Dolittle" (1967) for best picture
fun fact me and my friend were suppose to see open season but we snuck into see Click and we loved it the ending made me cry tho
Batman Forever was a bit better than Batman and Robin. Not to mention that the Batman forever casting was great Val Kilmer was a underrated Batman not to mention the unique take on the Riddler and Two Face by Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones. And I did think Jim Carey's Riddler was good.
Batman Forever is f'n awful. 🤮
There is absolutely no way you think Emilia Pérez is better than Click
Emilia Perez should have been the 1 worst movie
I agree with you
Agreed
It is that bad?!
Oh yes. F*ck that movie.
😂
I came here for Emilia Perez and I was not disappointed.
I was. It wasn’t Numero Uno

Remember that Boss Baby got nominated for Best Animated Movie over Your Name and A Silent Voice.
I didn’t know that wow
You’re kidding me?!
That movie has got to be one of Dreamwork's worst creations.
I enjoy that movie, it's silly but it's a decent in my opinion for Dreamwork's
Let’s not forget Captain Underpants.
Emilia Perez is the only film with 13 nominations that everyone hated, whites, blacks, latinos, cis, trans, those who like musicals, those who don't, democrats, republicans, Ariana Grande fans, Selena Gomez fans, Joker 2 fans...
So it united us...as a country...lmbo
I mean not everyone clearly as it's rated as mid by IMDB :(
@@szymonlechdzieciol All the critical media support that shit. Outta there, has 0 recognition
There's no such thing as "cis". It's a label given to a majority that nobody in it asked for.
@@szymonlechdzieciol 5.6 is not mid but bad for imdb, rotten tomatoes 72% makes no sense tho
Harlem Nights is a cultural touchstone - Black America loves this film, and have never cared what critics think about it.
I loved that movie tbh it was a good ass movie the critics are idiots and hoodlum was good too
I didn't like it. Overpraised, it should've been so much better.
I'm not black and I love this film. It's hilarious and really cool to get to see that time period. The critics completely missed the mark on this one
Emilia Perez - a bad movie that gets 13 Oscar nominations
Dune: Part Two - the better movie only gets 5 nominations (which is less than how many the first Dune won)
Yeah, that makes total sense 🙄😔
It actually won 6 wins. I wouldn't be surprised if Dune: Part Two ends up winning all five awards at this year's Oscars. With Emilia Perez shooting itself repeatedly in the foot, it would be obvious.
@ I said less than how many the first won (the first won 6, and the 2nd is only nominated for 5)
In a perfect world, I would love it to win all 5 of its nominations
dune 2 sucked
@@SandorSoptei you must be a fan of Emilia Perez then

The ending had me absolutely sobbing!
It was a hit for a generation - as are many Adam Sandler movies… watch mojo is 🚮
I love 'Click'.
Tell me about it. Last time I watched it, I actually cried when Adam Sandler’s character died and his family died when he did
I like the Linger scene.
The songs in Emilia Perez are so terrible the double best song nomination is a travesty.
If I remember correctly, in 2007 Eddie Murphy was considered the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for DREAMGIRLS - and I've always wondered whether he lost because NORBIT came out around voting time.
Nobody cares if a bad movies gets nominated for visual effects, sounds, score, hair/make up or production/costume design. This list needs to include Best Picture, Best Actor/Actress, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Original/Adapted Screenplay, Best Director or Best Animated Feature
The fact that "Shark Tale" was nominated for Best Animated Movie proves that not only does the Academy not respect animation, they don't even watch the animated movies they nominate.
And they also nominated Ferdinand
i think the same thing about "frozen".
Don't forget The Boss Baby was nominated over Kimi no na wa
They could've nominated Howl's Moving Castle.
@@j7jov32 Howl WAS nominated. Shark Tale was year before.
Oscars are just a contest to see who smelled all the right farts.
_Thus spoke Zarathustra_
Calling Harlem Nights a terrible movie is wild
Terrible maybe not, but it still misses average by half a continent.
The disrespect is real my dude
It's easily Murphy's worst film after Norbit. 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I remember it coming out and leaving theaters after only a week. And this was at the height of Murphy's popularity in the 80s. So many talented people, and so incredibly unfunny. What a waste.
@@AlCarrollDrit’s still classic to me
Because it wasn't made for white movie lol.
The Academy likes to be progressive & support diversity, but sometimes they get it wrong. Emilia Perez is a huge example. There are & will be better films representing the Trans community without making a mockery of them. I feel bad that the trans community's milestone is being given to someone that's just a horrible person. What she said was abhorrent, but people deadnaming her or treating her badly is not right either. Hopefully someone better comes along.
Another time was Brokeback Mountain. It was up against Crash, a movie about racism. People have said over a decade later that they would have picked Brokeback Mountain for Best Picture, but voters went with the "safer choice." It's worth noting that Ang Lee won Best Director, which was a huge milestone too.
Fincher didn't "drop the ball" on Alien 3, he got screwed over by the studio. THAT'S why he hated it
Norbit is still way more loved by audiences than Emilia Perez
Came to the comments section to see the wrath for Emilia Perez and I wasn't disappointed 🤭
This is the year Oscar dies.
When I was little I used to think that the films that get nominated for Oscars are the best movies of that year, later when I got to know how award system works, I was so disappointed that its mainly a popularity contest where people campaign like elections to get awards, and hence the good but little known films by non-influential people will obviously be overlooked.
All these thousands of Academy members don't even watch all the films, and vote for the movies that are trending or made by their friends. This is not meritocracy. Maybe the jury system of having around 20 eminent film personalities who watch the films together and then vote for awards is better, like at Cannes.
Just because one movie that nobody likes was nominated in the Oscars does it mean the Oscars died this year. Because if that was the case then it would have been dead years ago when Crash won best picture.
I thought the same here, bro. My little kid self thought all the Oscar nominated films were masterpieces and worth watching.
After there whole Animation is for kids rant I see this as just industry politics and keep my ex name out you ____ing mouth stuff
@michaeljordan5630 Did you forget that del Toro called Schumer out by saying animation is for everyone.
@@majorfanboy2005 or Shakespeare in Love before that lol
I would describe the Oscars with one word: biased
I've never understood Shakespeare in Love. It's about as boring as humanly possible.
I would rank Emilia Perez in first place.
99.9999% people would, but I think this list is trying to be different and go against the grain. It's obvious that EP should be number 1 but it's low hanging fruit. Everyone is saying the same thing.
Ones getting oscar for visual effects, costume design, music need not be a good movie.
Was about to say the same thing. Completely agree. Horrible movies can still have outstanding and appraisable technical achievements.
Michael Bay's _Transformers_ Saga.
I know y'all don't have "Harlem Nights" on this list!? That is a "Black-American classic! "Harlem Nights" Is a Forever Staple in Black Culture. Period.

La-La Land.
Contrived rom-com, with a healthy dose of jazz snobism.
It's the kind of movies people who think they have exquisite taste just adore.
Also neither lead can sing
Agree, Damien Chazelle then doubled down on his bs with Babylon
During the Hollywood Studio era, stars were trained to sing and dance. The dance scenes in La La Land couldn’t hold a candle to the most average dance scenes in old Hollywood musicals.
@@michellebowers8652 more like Studios were making 10 times more musicals so they hired professional singers and dancers as actors. Most of Studio era musical actors get aclaim mostly for musical acting, and not really much for traditional one.
But honestly I way more prefer to watch good recording of theatre musical than film version.
I had forgot Norbit existed. Now, it’s back to therapy for me.
HOW YOU DOIN?
Norbit is hilarious 😂

Harlem Nights is a CLASSIC.
Um…Harlem Knights is a great movie. It’s funny asf.
I WILL NOT TOLERATE ANY ROBIN WILLIAMS SLANDER NOT EVEN FROM YOU LADY FROM WATCH MOJO
The Boss Baby being nominated for an Oscar still irks me to this day. Why wasn't the much more enjoyable and emotional Your Name wasn't nominated that year, it should have taken the place of that.
Never understood the praise for that movie, besides looking really good( its really a gorgeous movie to look at), the plot is boring, the pace is uneven and the characters are dull, but yeah, if we are to choose, maybe it does hold a little more artistic value than Boss Baby( also the reason it was probably not nominated maybe because the movie was released officially in 2016).
Oscars say they don't do nominations for franchises or superhero movies yet Star Wars 2019 got Oscar nods and same with LOTR back in the day. Logan should've got an Oscar nod and Hugh imo should've won
Technical artists are not responsible for writing or acting and should not be begrudged their nominations.
2025 has the worst Oscar lineup I’ve seen in years!!
Pixar’s Brave and Dreamworks Shark Tale
Emilia Perez is the epitome of everything that is wrong with Colonial countries. A French director who said that Spanish is a language spoken only in poor countries (he forgets that the French colonies are quite poor too), didn't research the topic therefore perpetuating Mexican stereotypes. Using Google Translator for the script. Employing a toxic person who is racist and clasist as the main character, and the worst thing of all, trivialising drugs and cartel violence. No idea whatsoever, about the daily struggles that loved ones all over Mexico, Central and South America have to go through to find their missing relatives. This movie is not progressive at all.
Well... As LatAm-born someone, the narco represent us
Erasure, Clan Of The Cave Bear, & Patch Adams are really good films to watch. And Click was awesome. I love Click.
Just cuz Emilia Perez has so many nominations, doesn’t mean it can win any of them right
RIGHT?!
I want it to sweep because it’ll just prove that the Oscar’s are a joke
You are hopefully correct. In my opinion one of the best films of the year in 1986 was The Color Purple. I thought this was a work of art and it was nominated for 11 awards. I thought it was one of Steven Spielberg's best films and he was not nominated for best director. The film did not win a single award.
@@dwleroydifferent times. I guarantee Emilia Perez will get awards for the same reason it got nominated in the first place: politics and messaging
I still love Harlem Nights.
Emilia Perez getting 13 oscar nominations is the biggest travesty in movie history.
One of the biggest snubs in Oscar history has to be Best Original Song for "See You Again" from FURIOUS 7, but instead, FIFTY SHADES OF GRAY gets nominated for "Earned It." A low point to show that the Academy cares more about unfiltered sex instead of an emotional farewell to a character from a long-running franchise.
Where's Crash?
Thank you!!!!
Where's Training Day?
Wasn't Crash just Oscar bait?
Like The Butler?
It wasn’t THAT bad in comparison to Emilia Perez or Norbid, it’s just that most people thought that Brokeback Mountain was better. 🫤
@@llamasarus1training day is not that bad. Not enough to be on this list
I would personally have added 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' to the list. I have always disliked 'Patch Adams', but I'd argue 'ELAIC' is more maudlin than even that film.
"Click" basically stole most of the plot from "The Goosebumps" series episode of the same name
This is the only list where Emilia Pérez deserves the 1st place
I actually liked Patch Adams. My teacher played it for the health class I was in.
In 1979, Thank God It’s Friday, a terrible disco movie, was nominated and won for best original song - Donna Summer’s hit “Last Dance”. I would’ve included that.
But you've pointed out the problem with this premise. The movie wasn't great, but "Last Dance" is a terrific Donna Summer song. It deserved the nomination.
Emilia Perez's Bangkok scene was ridiculous. I laughed my ass off on that scene😂
Let’s face it, we’re all here for the same reason.
Emilia Perez 🤢🤮
🦭 “Kiss from a Rose” from Batman Forever DESERVED an Oscar! 🥀
I believe it was ineligible because although the film popularised the brilliant Seal song, the song wasn't written directly for the film. In fact, Joel Schumacher heard it when it was first released in 1994 and decided to put it in the 1995 film, prompting the song's rerelease and eventual success in the charts.
Agreed! Love that song. 🎉
OMG it is so unfair to Emilia Perez. That film should have been number 1 in this list.
Many of the movies in here are awful but they got nods in technical categories (not in acting) ; however, that horrendous movie called Emilia Perez got nominations in acting categories, direction, script, music, foreign movie and best movie: this is just insulting since a movie with such 13 nominations at least is expected to be outstanding in terms of story and performance, and Emilia Perez is anything but.
The fact that an anime movie about a bully redeming himself could have gotten the oscar but didn't because they pick Boss Babg instead is even more frustrating.
I didn't even know there was a Sting 2. And Mac Davis?...😂😂😂
Who is Mac Davis?
Mojo saying "Harlem Nights" was a bad movie is the equivalent of BET nominating "Ferris Bueller" for a Razzie.
Well, considering it got a razzie and is the alleged reason Eddie Murphy doesn’t direct anymore, I think more than just mojo that thinks that
It's easily Murphy's worst film after Norbit. 27% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I remember it coming out and leaving theaters after only a week. And this was at the height of Murphy's popularity in the 80s. So many talented people, and so incredibly unfunny. What a waste.
@@AlCarrollDr go in a black barbershop and repeat that😂
They were trying to sabotage Eddie Murphy's career.
@ Facts!🤣
Most of the movies named just got makeup, sound, or VFX noms.. then you have one that happened to get nominated in just about every category it was eligible in LOL
The fact that Emilia Perez is even being considered for anything is baffling everything about that movie is awful
Just because a movie bombs at the box office by no means makes it a bad movie. Poor marketing, scandals, and other things can make a great movie bomb. Most find their success after theatrical releases, making their money and popularity on home rental or now streaming.
Harlem knights is a classic in my house
I was expecting major award noms. Movies can be bad and still get nominated on makeup, costume design or some sht
Yeah. I was hoping Titanic would make the list. 10 in production values; -5 in screenwriting.
Harlem Nights??? Terrible??? Stop the cap. You don't mess with a masterpiece
Emilia Pérez. should it be number one on this list it deserves a whole video dedicated to how bad it is
11. Critics loves Emelia Perez but it was a shot film
10. Boss Baby was hated by critics yet was still nominated for awards
So either you all need to stop listening to critics who are paid for their opinions (not paid to make an opinion please note the difference)
Excellent point, I hope people can understand the difference.
Emilia Pérez should be in number 1 for the worst...🤣🤣🤣
13:17 "Batman Forever" even scored 3 Academy Award nominations. Besides Best Cinematography, it was also nominated for Best Sound, which it lost to Apollo 13, the same category in which "Waterworld" was also nominated, and Best Sound Editing, which in turn "Batman Forever" lost to "Braveheart".
And it's not even that bad a movie! The bar for Batman is high, I admit, but it was a fun action movie and it had an interesting look at Batman/Bruce. I feel like this one was a bit harsh.
Harlem Nights is great
I loved Patch Adams and Boss Baby! Patch Adams made me cry
Naturally when WatchMojo does a list like this, it's pretty much all movies from the last 20 years. I was shocked we went as far back as the 80's a couple of times! Here are a few other movies with Oscar nominations that are both older than anything presented here and not well-regarded critically: Only When I Laugh (1981), Heartbeeps (1981), The Blue Lagoon (1980), The Formula (1980), Meteor (1979), The Swarm (1978), Thank God It's Friday (1978), The Slipper and the Rose (1977), Airport '77 (1977), The Hindenburg (1975), and The Day of the Dolphin (1973). And that's not even going back before the 70's!
You should do "The Worst Movies Ever Made, but Became Fan Favorites and Cult Classics".
THIS is the only thing about the oscar that I think it's right. Bad movies sometimes have good score or good cinematography or visual effects, etc
Harlem Nights is one of the best comedies ever made
🤣🤣🤣
EXACTLY!!! There's NO way it should be on a "worst movies" list.😠
Not one of the best comedies but definitely shouldn't be on the list
I liked Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, The Boss Baby, Click, The Lone Ranger, Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
That “stuck uploading” in the title’s kinda funny
Correction: Kevin Reynolds directed Waterworld. Not Costner
Costner took over after Kevin Reynolds was taken off the chair.
The Academy of Motion Picture and Sciences has about 10,000. Therefore 10,000 people are voting to tell about 10 million people watching the Oscars what are "the best."
1. The event is mainly a biased popularity contest. There is always at least one film that feels like an "insider entertainment industry" film where the Academy is basically saying to everyone: "We are the film industry and we are the only people who understand this film." 2. Almost every year there is a "we made a mistake so we will give you an award this year." That means that someone who did the best performance looses out.
3. Just watch the films you want to and enjoy them regardless of any or no accolades. The Academy might open up an option to watch something you would not have otherwise. Otherwise you choose what you think are the best of the best.
What is the message in Emilia Peréz? Don't make a movie without researching the culture, history and context of the country you are trying to portray? Don't make a movie without a cultural consultant? Don't do a film with a full French production team when your film isn't about France? Don't hire a racist trans actress?
If I don't hear Rebecca say welcome to watchmojo I don't watchmojo
You've convinced me, that Norbit is worse than Emilia Perez.
You'll notice that the only criticism given for why Waterworld qualifies as one of the "worst movies" to receive an Oscar nomination is that it was a "flop". Further, if you actually look into it, the only reason it was ever considered a "flop" was because it went _massively_ overbudget, and becoming infamous for being so massively overbudget earned it the public reputation of "bad movie" before it was even released, despite the fact that the movie eventually made a profit.
That's the only reason the film is included on this list at _all,_ much less ranking at #4. That's because Waterworld (even the theatrical cut, but _especially_ the Ulysses Cut) is a f*cking _awesome_ movie. Not only in its own right, but it might just be Dennis Hopper's all-time classic portrayal of an absolutely hilarious villain ("Maybe he doesn't respond to Chuck... call him Charles! Charles!").
Another thing: Alien 3 gets a _lot_ of sh!t it doesn't deserve. Granted, it gets a fair bit of sh!t it does deserve, but it's _far_ outweighed by sh!t it doesn't; this goes especially for the Director's Cut. And while we're at it, Eraser was a damn good movie. Maybe not a _great_ movie, but it doesn't belong on this list.
Emilia Perez should be number 1 🤣🤣🤣
Everyone knows this, but it's getting trashed so bad it's like kicking a dead horse.
I would add "Endless Love" and "Thank God It's Friday" (both "Best song" nominees - with TGIF winning)
How is Crash not on this list?
I remember when Leonard Maltin brought up a horrible movie that actually WON an Oscar, and he said it was possibly the worst film to ever receive an Academy Award of any kind. It was Thank God It's Friday, which won for best song (Last Dance, Donna Summer).
Sometimes people can go into a pizzeria with the taste for caviar and lobster.
"Clan of the Cave Bear" wasn't ultra bad. Just rushed. If they had made it into two or three films, it would have been a lot better.
💯 agree
Honorable mentioned:
1. Snow White and the Huntmen
2. King Kong 1976
3. Solo: The Star Wars Story
Bohemian Rhapsody should be in this list
Just a reminder that Earned It by the Weeknd got Fifty Shades of Grey the nomination for Best Original Song over See You Again from Furious 7.
You have to admit that Batman Forever, Suicide Squad, and Fifty Shades had really good soundtracks though.
I am relieved to say that I have not watched a single one of these movies.
