- This is a brief overview to hopefully clear up some question about timing a P7100, and a introduction into the adjustable gear options available. If you have more questions let me know, I can cover it in depth more.
I have a question I need help with I have the adjustable gear and fresh reman 180 p7100 that was pinned at 0 how do I time the pump and motor to 21 with them both at 0 TDC any advice is appreciated thank you

Runs for the video. Can this adjustable gear be set down as low as 18*?? I figured if it’s advertised to go up to 40* but has only 20* of adjustment at 2* increments, minimum might be 20* only.
Thankful Life yes you could set it down to 0 degrees if you’d like, the difference is how you set the gear up vs the pump.
Say your pump is pinned at 20*, and your gear is in the middle of the range, you can go as low as 0 or as high as 40 once the gear is installed. This range pretty much covers almost everyone except for your big time pullers.
If your pump is pinned at 20* and the gear is at the lowest end, then you could only have a range of 20*-60* if timing.
I recommend most have the gear set in the middle range with the pump pinned at 20*.
If your pump is pinned at stock (12-14*) I would set it up so that is the lowest the gear would allow.
What does timing do, used for? I just bought a 95 12 valve with a 175hp ppump with 15 degrees of timing and wondering what that means exactly.
For diesel its the start of injection. More timing, more time to burn fuel, and generally more power

Have u had issues with the adjustable gear bolts chewing into the gear? The torque spec for them is like 45ft lbs but without washers it doesnt seem proper
Matt Garrett not really been an issue, I can see where they’ve been but it’s not been a problem as far as adjusting goes

Can i install the adjustable timing gear without using the dial indicator? I have the gear ordered but dont have access to the dial indicator kit and funds are limited at the moment. Thank you in advance.
Yes you can, what you will need to do is pin the pump, then install the gear like normal.
After it’s installed you can use the gear to move it from pin time as needed. As long as you know your pin time
Ray Rays Deezul Performance , so i would pin the pump as well as the motor to ensure both are set to tdc? Then pull the stock gear, install the adjustable timing gear, then untab and set the adjustable gear by removing the bolts and rotating the motor right?

Willis slept timing on the pump if you turn up your truck I turn my truck up and didn't get to hear it for like four minutes and it's blowing black smoke and we press the throttle Hard 3 or 4 times and it fell dead and what we got it start back up it has white diesel smoke
