    Glad you did this video. I bought the snap on kit a long time ago . I remember hearing o you will melt your pistons ect crap . I used the drop valve method . I used a piece of tig wire to show where TDC was on harmonic balancer once I found it . I also have a 160 pump and I used the cpl number I think that's what it's called to figure out how many mil meters of lift on pump . I set it to 18 deg . That tool is pretty cool deal you made great idea lol . I been at 18 deg for over 20 years on that engine. I had no clue how to do this procedure but I was damn tired of 16 miles to gallon so I got it figured out . It took me a few tries to get what I wanted. I did not have that cool tool lol . The change was what a different lol . Just like I thought it would . No melted piston crap either. Thanks for your videos

    Hello, love your vids full of great information on the greatest engine! I have a question, I bought a parts truck im going to use the the intercooler and related parts plus the turbo hx35. The engine blue all the oil out the. Lock up the engine. I want to use the transmission too. How do I get it off if I can't rotate the engine to access the converter bolts?.. thanks in advance.

    • @CUTTERUPROB
      @CUTTERUPROB  3 роки тому

      as I said in the other comment be careful with the turbo. On the trans issue just leave the convertor on till you get it out. Make sure you unbolt the engine mounts from the block and frame so you can pull the engine straight out far enough with the convertor still on.

    When your at base circle, then rotate Ccw until indicator stops spinning, you "raise" the dual indicator.
    Do you keep the small dial at 1, or 0 it out with the large guage at 0 too?
    Having a tough time with this and a no start situation after changing the tappet cover gasket.

      @@CUTTERUPROB Sent the pump away to get rebuilt since the third plunger was sticking. They installed 4K Governor Springs and a number 10 fuel plate. It will not rev properly until I get to 2,000 RPM, even then I have to hold the pedal down until it gets to 2000 for the Turbo to light. I've checked everywhere for air leaks, installed new injectors, and changed the fuel overflow valve. The pump is getting 30 PSI so I'm running out of options. I always timed the engine using powerdrivendiesel's magnetic method. That should be close enough in my opinion?
