Hey! I start with just messaging friends and family that we're donating clothes and to come by to go through them. Next step I take is to contact people that I know work with refugees locally. With anything that's leftover, I donate to a local shop that's acquainted with our school. Schools and churches almost always have great sources for donations. Hope that helps!

Thank you! *insert crying emoji*. Your support means so much, truly! My momma is so modest and beautiful, I want to be like her! Her beauty radiates through the way she treats others and I love that.
I adore everlane! and you are so pretty!!!
Good job. Was fun watching you sort through your clothes. I too have been moving to ethical, sustainable brands.
Fantastic. Is you come across some that you love, send my way!!
Love watching other minimalist videos and will be watching more of your videos and will subscribe x
Thank you x 1000. This means so much, truly. Don't be a stranger here, Rebecca!
Absolutely loved this video, inspiring! Well done Margaret!
😭♥️🙏🏼😘thank you my sweet kohlie!!
Well. Subscribed. You’re adorable and this de clutter was ruthless! I am also on a minimalism journey 🤎
Ahh fantastic, it’s so freeing! Thanks for subscribing-your support means so much!
It’s definitely so hard to give up the really expensive purchases that you don’t wear
YES. that's the hardest thing for me too.
Please do more research about everlane. They are not as sustainable as they claim to be. They don’t really treat their workers right. I’m not saying don’t buy them, I’m just saying if you think they are super sustainable and clean please look more into it 😊
oh really? Wow, thank you for this. I'll definitely look further into it. Where did you find this info? How do I even start looking further into it. THanks!

And just one of many articles if you google ex wife’s club everlane. If they don’t treat their models etc right i can’t imagine that they treat the people sewing their clothes etc better. I just think people buying everlane should be informed about that issue and then decide if it matters to them, not trying to guilt you into not buying etc. 😊 I myself never bought from them but would always want to try them because they seemed so transparent.
You did a great job at minimizing. I have also been on this journey..slowly..and over years and years. Honestly I really could get everything down to 30 or less items if I went by what I actually wear instead of what I really like!!
Fantastic!! I love that you viewed as a process too! That’s exactly what it is.🙌🏻♥️
@@margaretmatheny Definitely. I have had to retrain my way of thinking along the way!
Awe I love you! You’re so cute and fun to watch. So glad I found your channel! Now I need to go through my closet!
ha thanks!! Means so much, truly. Enjoy decluttering!
Love your video! I've decluttered and felt both encouraged and discouraged knowing I got rid of a lot but had so much left to go through!!
That's such a good place to be though! Feel encouraged, it's in the mess that we can transform and flourish. You're doing good, keep going!!
Wonderful!
Great video! Would love to see how you maintain this size of a wardrobe!
I'll do an updated version soon! We're moving in a few weeks, so I'm waiting till we get resettled and such:) Thanks for the encouragement!
You did a great job! Aim for what you like and wear , don't worry about the number.
Love that piece of advice! I'm going with that mindset a lot more lately. Thank you!!!
LOL'd at "modest is hottest" 😄 loved the video!
haha thanks!! Love making people laugh!
Where is your Jean jacket from? 😍
Tie dye is forever. Great job!!
Thanks!!!
Just a honest question no judgment: Why do you do your husbands laundry when you don’t like doing laundry? And why do YOU clean out HIS closet?
Hi! He actually cleaned out his closet! I just wanted to be a part of it because it was an entertaining activity. Also he puts all his clothes away, I just do the loading and unloading for efficiency reasons. Love that you're all for sharing jobs. I am too! Makes the world of a difference in how the home works and how we view each other in our relationship. Thanks for your comment!
I also hate doing laundry in addition to cleaning and cooking. But I find joy in making sure my family is taken care of. Even if that means doing things I dislike. Same thing applies to my husband.
@@squidy41 Thanks for this! It's truly the art of homemaking-and how to truly find joy in those endless tasks. Love your take on it!
Love the items you bought at the end. So simple yet not fast fashion look and timeless 😍😍😍 i am on the minimalist clothing journey but more so bevause i so broke for 2 years and now working with income i want to invest in timeless pieces. Look smart, easy, simple to get together is my style. Sub!! Do more outfits 😍
Yes, honestly I'm in a similar boat! Just have a lot of other expenses with two children and always on the move. I'll do more for sure! Thanks for your encouragement!
@@margaretmatheny I totally understand. I have a child too and always trying to find ways to mix and match outfits too so more cost effective long term:))) love love your videos. New fan in Ireland 🇮🇪
@@navygf86 Right? So much more cost effective for us. Thank you!! You're encouraging words mean so much! I LOVE Ireland, truly one of the sweetest trips of my life over there.
Just subscribed girl! I started my minimalist journey too!! Congrats ❤️
Ya, awesome. thank you!! Means so much!
@@margaretmatheny Hope you can return the favor, I'd appreciate your support as well
At the moment I have so much clothes but I’m 7 months pregnant. I can’t wait to go through all of my clothes again
Well thats it, im going to declutter my closet 😅
I need to do this right now!!! and your video was right to the point Love that!!
Yes, you will feel amazing!
You look so much like Banks - it’s wild!
No idea who that is!!
Yasss modest is hottest 👏🏼👏🏼 Totally stealing that phrase
I have to ask… how do you keep your clothing white, with young children!?
MODEST IS HOTTEST 🤣🔥🔥 👏🏼get it girl!!
:) Ha, thanks!! Such a funny phrase that I've been saying since middle school. I had friends who made a club called "modest is hottest" LOL.
So funny! I love this video.
haha, thank you!! Thanks for being here.
I loved this video! You are funny!
ha, thanks!! I've tried to be so many different people throughout my UA-cam experience...realizing them showing up fully me is best and always feels right. Thanks for watchin!
For a while I was actively getting rid of things to have low numbers in my wardrobe. Now that I have under 90 consistently, I just declutter when I notice I don't love something. I think someday I'll probably end up close to 50 items.
i keep golf attire bc i have to too 😂😂😂
Great declutter
Thank you!!
@@margaretmatheny Welcome!
"Modest is hottest" and that is why j subscribed to you. I just found you and I love your page.
hahaha, yes! Grew up thinking my mom was crazy for saying that..now it's my motto. lol.
Thanks for your support, truly means so much!
Where is your winter coat from? Looking for a nice one!
the north face! Got it for Christmas about 3 years ago I believe?
Modest is hottest 🤣 something my gramma would say lol BUT I actually agree!
Oh I definitely claim grandma-status. No hiding it here haha!
Nice video. I realy liked watching it :) My wardrobe is minimalitic too. About the same amount as yours. Soon i will be doing a decluttering-thing again with my clothes. I've lost a lot of weight so it would be easy to donate a lot not replace it i think ;) :P
Ah, thank you! Thanks for watching. Sounds like a fun task ahead of you!
@@margaretmatheny Yes, it really is! I can't wait to get to it to be honest... but i will wait a bit longer till i've lost some more weight.
Love this video!! May I ask what size you got in the ever lane picnic top? I’m 5’1” pregnant...and think this could be an awesome top for breastfeeding once baby is here
I got a small! Fits perfectly. but I will say the buttons just barely fit. So possibly size up for the breastfeeding months, haha. Been there:)
@@margaretmatheny thanx mama! I am so loving your channel and videos as I transition changes for my third baby and making life SIMPLER before he arrives ❤️❤️ for myself, physically and mentally... and our house ❤️❤️
I got the small. And it fits great! But I will say the buttons at the top juuuuust barely fit. With breastfeeding maybe go up a size?? (lol, as least I would def need to!)
Great job!!
Thank you! Thanks for being here!!
Hi.. Margaret, may I ask a question?
how many total clothes do you have (including t-shirts, shirts, jeans, sleepwear, sportswear..etc) how many clothes do you have as a minimalist (ALL clothes)??
thankyou before for sharing Margaret🤍
hmmm haven't counted since this video! I'd say about 40-45 range. Needing to declutter, but waiting to get back home to get all my clothing pieces together.
@@margaretmatheny
Thank you very much Margaret, you always reply to questions from your subscribers.
Alright, I'll be waiting for your latest videos on how many total clothes you have including footwear.
Thankyou before🤍
GBU..
@@kenita.j2025 Currently only have one pair of tennis shoes, one pair of white lace ups, one pair of black boots and one pair of slides!
@@margaretmatheny Thankyou Margaret for sharing more, you are very kind!
hi! I love your video, thanks for sharing!! 🤩🥰 I was wondering, what do you do with all the clothes you got rid of? How/where do you donate, give to your friends and how much did you sell? I’ve had trouble trying to sell items and i want to not have too much clothing waste 💗💗 thank u!!
Loved this!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Inspired me! New sub😄👍🏻
😭♥️♥️thank you!!!
I like your vibe and your maturity- I guess; in that you don't take what other people say personal... I mean we should be like that after high school, as adults but I guess only some catch on fast. Also, I wonder if married women don't keep some items cuz their husbands like it, I know my aunt does.. so it might be a couples' thing or cultural..
Thanks, those words are very kind. I appreciate you taking the time to say that. Thats an interesting thought, I wonder that as well! I'm sure it varies from woman to woman.
You are a gem! Modest is hottest! Amen to that!
Have u ever had those moments of you know becoming a minimalist and your wanting to buy more clothes because your trying to make a good outfit but u don't really have the pieces to make that outfit good and then u start buying more clothes because u wanna dress more proper
Where is your jean jacket from? I’ve been looking for the perfect one.
Urban outfitters about 3 years ago:/!
What's in the bottom half of the closet and did you count the sweaters?
Hello! Thanks for being here. Bottom half is our second pair of sheets for the bed and undergarmets+socks. Counted the sweaters, yes! I actually gave most of them away. Only kept the ones I showed in the video.
that was impressive!
Haha thanks!!
How did you decide on the number 40?
Just chose it as a starting point knowing that I need about 7-10 shirts and just filling in the needs as I went!
Did u get rid of that white sleveless jacket 🥺
lol yes! Wen't to a friend.
"Modest is hottest"... What?! Subscribe! Thank you for a great video.
I like the way you say " I have 2 children and a loooving husband" so you just don't need that top! I thought you used the term bougie because the top shows too much cleavage! Like your video! Much love from Mauritius
Thank you!! Thanks for the encouragement too. Means so much!
everlane doesn’t have the best factory conditions either unfortunately
also that pink tank top actually looks lovely on your skintone
I'm learning this and wow, it's making me so sad. Just so appreciative for your knowledge and letting me know! I'm diving deeper. You will hear more from me about his in future videos. People truly don't know what they don't know, including me. Thank you for sharing!
What sustenable brand for athletic brand?
Great question! I have heard great things about girlfriend collective! I don't have any items from them yet, but when I need a new activewear piece, that's where I will go!
I think Prana is getting pretty sustainable!
@@Amanda-Yogi Oh thanks for this rec!
It doesn’t have to be exactly 40 keep what you wear
Right on! I went in with the goal of 40 and realized though my process that 'hey, this is a great start'. So stayed around 47! I'll do an update at the end of the year!
when she said modest is hottest...girl really
Never meant to offend anyone, truly just an opinion of mine. You're absolutely welcome to have a differing view and will never be judged for that by me!
I wonder how many items of clothing you have now, after one year…
yesss
