Nice to see that you are about to splash soon🎉
hi guys from a wet and getting cold manilla NSW
Hey mate winter is on the way ☺️
The boat is beautiful! I credit that to Taj for all of his humble behind the scenes work.
Awesome work!! Catalpa looks beautiful!
Thanks team
Surprised didn't do alternate AF colours as wear indicators
Looking good. Gee that prop has a lot of pitting! Which you then comment on towards the end of the video.
Congrats on your “Bottom” work👍 Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy 😎
We have always over last 14 years on our boat excellent results from prop speed. Looking good. 👍😁
It’s the goods 😁
So having a mig welder has helped a lot, would you recommend getting one or would you recommend having someone else do the welding.. I worry about space, keeping tools and extra storage. About outfitting our boat ways on my mind any suggestions would be welcome on needed items.
That prop is so bad it is going to be out of balance and cause vibration at full power!
This is getting very exciting! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome it is 🤗
Hopefully you can get another year or two out of that prop.
Why don't you use roller poles so much easier
I'm so excited I watched twice!
🤗
Nice to see you all finishing the Jobs! Perfect groupspirit!
PYI in Everett WA USA do a reman service of the max props. Atticus (another you tube channel) had some VERY severe electrolysis on theirs and PYI were able to get it back to spec. Worth looking into this service when you feel it might be time to replace yours.
Thanks will look into it
It’s good that you have the logic to know the possible pros and cons of what you’re doing regarding electrolysis etc, rather than blindly applying the product then holding the manufacturer responsible for whatever happens. Good work 🙂.
Looking great! Cheers.
Could one paint under the holding blocks by moving them down, out of the way, paint and move back?
I see many slap paint on while in the slings heading to the water.
Yeah you can do that no problem
Looks perfect great job
Cat is looking awesome folks point her to the water you have earned it keep em coming
Would you protect the surface under the zinc next time? Instead of taping it off, could you take the zinc off to get all the way down to any surface that might be exposed to water?
you wouldn't want anything between the zinc and the surfice it attaches to , so never paint under the zinc
Looking good, love the blue.
Well done guys, you have done an awesome job, the big girl is looking beautiful.
Thanks so much 😊
I'm so happy for you guys . The boat looks great , hopefully the prop speed works out just fine with that old prop .
Thanks mate
Well, you are getting close. The bottom looks great. It will be interesting to see what else needs to be done on the inside now that the bottom and prop and shaft are done. All I know is, I would sail from here to he _ _ and back on that boat with you. What a great refit Congrats to all of you. I'm looking forward to seeing you sail and surf again.
We can’t wait too 🏄♀️🏄♂️🏄🏄♀️💦⛵️
Hopefully they don't drop your boat like they did Exit Only.
Fingers crossed
Prop speed works 👍👍
I emailed you guys with an offer. Willing to help. I will bring beer!
Thanks mate sent email back
I hear the "SPLASH" in the not too distant future AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE 🇦🇺OI🇦🇺 OI 🇦🇺OI🇦🇺
Enjoy that beautiful SPRING -into-SUMMER as we start to feel a slight nip in the air in the early morns as winter approachs inland S.E.Q. in Ippy it's a tad nippy LOL 🤗🙏💞👍👌👏👋🇦🇺
Woohoo!👍
Boat looks great. Well done. Always takes longer than you expect. Looking forward to splash day. Probably not as much as you all are.
If I want to send you fishing lures, how do I send it to what address?
Check description for link to our Wishlist 🤗
That's a sexy bottom! If the prop speed doesn't work out, you could treat the exposed metal with alodine and clean with fresh water. Then, use a coat or 2 of Devcon aluminum putty for the pitted areas. We do that on our aircraft.
Hi
Gday
I love the full body paint suits and flip flops!
Awesome job Team Catalpa. Love the blue colour too. Can't wait to see you get back in the water ❤
CATALPA IS LOOKING NEAT AND FRESH !
Good on ya Lee with the PPE!
Hey guys great work
Propspeed works you did a great job applying it however I believe you didnt use enough. After two coats of the yellow primer it should look bright yellow and none of the electrolysis should be able to be seen. And then make sure to use up all the silicon paint.
After you finish it should look a bright gold yellow and then after a couple of days it should turn to a gold yellow. Given just the size of your propeller a medium sized kit would i think be the minimum as you did the shaft as well.
Anyhow it will still work but may need another application sooner than normal.
This is my issue with Propspeed...huge cost for one season or 12 months (according to the manufacturer) of protection. That's not nearly enough for what they charge and I'm guessing the he put on what he had and didn't have enough left to do more coats (purely a guess). Catalpa crew is correct, if your boat sits and you don't give the prop a wipe down, stuff will grow; the system relies on the turning of the prop and/or regular wipe downs to keep the growth at bay. This is because there is no biocide in Propspeed, just a really slick surface that is hard for growth to glom onto. I don't understand this logic, yes, I get it, antifouling paints full of biocides are toxic to the environment, but if you just painted your entire boat with multiple coats of a biocide filled paint, what does it matter if you put a little more on your prop, shaft, and limited other metal parts under the water line? I think you get better value and performance (for the cruiser AND the weekend seasonal boater) from a product like Pettit Running Gear Guardian. Not only does it provide the slick surface but it also has biocides to inhibit growth at the dock or on the hook. Yes, still expensive at 200 bucks (Defender's price) BUT it's cheaper than Propspeed AND multi seasonal, not just 12 months. Nope, I don't work for Pettit and I'm not paid to promote for them. Companies like Propspeed that charge ridiculous prices for their products that far exceed their production costs and overhead just kinda piss me off. All that said, to each their own and I certainly don't begrudge Catalpa Crew for what they decide works for them. Fair winds and following seas!
Looks great.....need more crew...lol
The Boatie is gonna go Floatie. YAY!
Legends ! Well done 😊
Hi guys, I know you are on a budget but why use the expensive NZ PropSpeed. Try the cheaper Aussie version Prop One! Lasted 2 and a half years on my boat!
We got a sponsor for the prop speed and really like the product ☺️
