Surrey Rolling Road "fly wheel" power output :

It’s a very laggy/ lazy engine on throttle response and was not enjoyable at all to rev match - personal opinion obviously 👍

You complain about not being able to Rev match, it has automatic Rev matching….

Part of owning a manual car for me is the Rev matching/ heel & toe, would rather just have a DCT if it was all automatically done personally

Have you noticed that slight bulge on the bonnet looking very similar in shape as the E92 M3 ?

I keep thinking the problem with BMW's new oversquare design is that the longer the stroke is in relation to bore for the same displacement, the size of the valves becomes the issue - which would relate to high-rpm power.

Emissions and user demand is no doubt the biggest issue, the days of high reving engines do not appeal to the current generation ☹️

whats the power to the wheels though not crank hp its on a dyno why are you reading crank hp??

    • @stoneautomotive

I assume your from the states? In the UK and a lot of Europe dyno’s will quote a flywheel figure which as you mention is simply a wheel figure with a percentage added for “drive train losses”
Rightly so wheel figure is the most accurate but ultimately a dyno is a tool ideal for using before & after upgrades so I don’t get too caught up the head line number
We just like bigger numbers on our graphs in the UK 😅

@@stoneautomotive yeah over here in the States you get made fun of. The whole point of the dino is to see what kind of power you're putting to the actual ground that's what really matters because there are a lot of cars take for instance the Shelby GT500 it was a Dyno Queen and made a lot of power to the crank but didn't really put a lot of power to the wheels. And the sad part is the newer Mustang GTs make less power but are much faster as well.
When people mention the horsepower of the car and they're measuring crank we look at them and just laugh. Sorry. At the end of the day we don't want 100% rely on the dyno figure, because the other issue is there plenty of variances when it comes to different Dynos. And to get to the most accurate number we also utilize wheel hub Dynos. And that's used so you can take wheel spin out of the equation.

It may well have 310 hp, looks absolutely terrible and probably costs a packet. What a complete waste of money and such a horrid car. Really bad taste.
