Very nice build
@@stevenholland9984 thanks pal!
I like your neighbour. He seems super friendly. Wicked space brev!
You can borrow him if you like. He’s good at putting ceilings up!
@@BenjisHobbies please stick your neighbor on a plane for me, I can use the extra hands.
@@juriaan13 sorry, he’s my helper. Get your own 😝
Im here to shout out good doggo that just wanted to play some fetch.
Haha! She just doesn’t quit with that ball!
What a wonderful studio space, I think that spray insulation is going to be your best friend in the colder months!
Absolutely! Big expense, but bigger reward! No point in investing in a new hobby studio if it’s too cold to use for a couple of months of the year!
I've been using a standing desk for a couple of years myself and it is perfect. If you are taking picture then you can get it to a nice height and like you said if you are building then standing is a nice change from time to time. Lovely hobby room!
What a fantastic thing! A good workspace is essential. A bespoke, perfect workspace is a treasure to be cherished. I am genuinely so happy for you. Great stuff
It looks awesome and a great place for inspiration and to chill whilst painting, looking forward to seeing what you do in there 🙂
Thanks so much dude 😊 Really happy with how it turned out and I’ve loved the time I’ve been able to spend in here over the last couple of weeks!
Aww! So pleased to see you have your hobby space back! Bigger and better than before!! Looking forward to seeing future videos Benji 👍🏻
Thanks Nikky! I’ve got looooads of stuff planned so watch this space!
What an awesome space you've got yourself there.
Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in future videos
Hey Benji, I have watched you since you dropped your very first video. Been great to see transition to this new space. Your an inspiration to smaller hobby UA-camrs like myself as you have done amazingly in such a short time!
Also I’ve been hyped for this video for ages lol
Looks like a fantastic space, looking forward to watching the videos you produce. Thanks 👍
Great work Ben; clearly well thought out with a good dose of pragmatism in the mix. A hobby space to be well proud of.
Great job man! You've done so much with the space... Display cabinets and adjustable table are great. Love the shields!! Not gonna lie, I'm a teeny bit jealous lol
Great work Benji! Bet you're so pleased to have a space to 'escape' to again! Really inspiring to see what you can achieve with what you started, it will certainly help others with a similar plan! Looking forward more content from the new hobby zone!🐻
Looks so good. I cant wait to see what you create in the new space!
That looks amazing!!! You can now class yourself as a fancy UA-camr with a desk like that!! Looking forward to the next video!!
Amazing video! Great result on the studio, looking forward to your future content.
Thanks Dr. Evil! I’m really pleased with the results. I just wish I had more time to spend in there! 😊
That is one hella good hobby room. It's good looking and super functional. Job well done.
Wow, love it.
You really went all out on this and it shows. Very jealous of that large worktop and the whole thing to be honest. Inspiring stuff. Having just moved myself I am slowly working towards my new hobby space, I just have to redecorate every room ( I also hate decorating and have spent the entire day painting ceilings ) before I can start work on it.
Great stuff 👍🏻
Love this mate! Can’t wait to come and see it in person!
Thank you , Benji .
Nice "Man Cave"!
🐺
Dang bro!!!! That hobby room is on point!! I love it!! How you all are doing well! Congrats again on the little one!! Thank you sir!
Haha! Thanks dude! We’re all doing amazingly well thanks, loving life being a dad!
Such a great job, it's going to be an awesome space to work in. Got me really hyped to finish my workshop now!
Thanks Pat! Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours!
Looks fantastic, never seen the Glass Shelf inserts and drawer faces for the Kallax before, those are so nice.
Thank you! Yeh, they’re great! I’m hoping they’ll keep all the dust off my minis!
Cool - reminds me of a similar 'terrain build' i finished last summer....... now to see some 'real' miniature videos!!!
Looks great mate! Can't wait to see what you'll make in this awesome space. If you wanna avoid flicker from those shelf LED's happening when filming, you can:
1. Set the LED's to full brightness. A lot of LED's dim by adjusting flickering at different speeds
2. adjust the shutter speed on your camera. I shoot at 1/50 to help minimise flicker from cheaper led lights, but it may differ for you if you wanna experiment with it.
Thanks for the tip! It was only when I started editing I realised I had those lines… I was filming at 50fps but changed it to 25fps while editing which I think is where the issue came in. I’ll know better for next time!
@@BenjisHobbies no worries mate! yeah the frequency might depend on the Led's. So might take some experimenting to see what fps works best
Hi Benji what a nice work you have done. The studio is looking great.
Lovely! Welcome back, papa Benji.
Thanks Joe! Good to be back!
That is an ideal hobby space! Well done
Looks great 👍 I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say 1000 pots of citadel paint to paint all the walls ?
Thank you!
A bit less than that!
Awesome job, new setup looks great
Great vid and love the space. Green with envy😘😂😂😂
Looks like a little sanctuary. Amazing.
That it is!
Looks great man!!!!
Looks good Ben - and 👍👍 Sam!
Thanks Nigel! Couldn’t have done it without my Sam!
Turned out great! Hoping to do something similar myself one day and this gave some helpful tips
Uppy downy table, jealous does not come close to how I feel 😂😂. Nice studio dude, can't wait to see the projects you come out with
Good to see you back mate
Awesome mate! What a setup :)
Living the dream! Well maybe not all the hard work building it, But now that its done...👍
Very nice ! I hope someday I'll have a hobby room half as cool as that
I have been waiting for this video! Thanks for sharing! Now that my daughter is in University, I plan to move my hobbit desk out of my office and make her room my hobby room! I would really appreciate a detailed tour of your new set up so I can pouch as many of your good ideas as I can. Especially around your air brush station. Thanks again! 😂🎉😂
Awesome hobby space dude.
Thanks Stu! Looking forward to putting it to good use 😊
I found this video after checking out Ninjon's "Ultimate Painting Setup", and I'm really glad I did. I'm kitting out my shed/hobby room in a similar manner to your garage and I was looking for a suitable modelling/painting desk. After watching your video I've just bought a Flexispot E7 desk 120x80cm and I'm hoping it wil be as good as you suggest.
Also, for this week only (22-26/5/23) Flexispot UK are having a sale - I got £140 off the normal price of an E7 desk. This makes it cheaper than the IKEA Bekannt that I was considering.
Thanks again for the video
Paul
Love it mate.
Looks fantastic, very jealous
Love the new hobby room not jealous at all 😂😂🥃🥃👍🏻
Thanks Todd! 😁
I’ve been looking forward to this video since you put the one up saying you had moved. Great content Benji 😊
I love hobby space videos :)
Thanks dude! I hope this one didn’t disappoint!
Looks amazing 👏👏👏👏👍🤛
Been following since the first build. This is a sick upgrade. Thanks Benji for being an inspiration for the average hobbyist. Looking forward to more videos in that space :)
How'd you do the cabling for the lights in the Kallax display unit? Do they just go directly out the back of it?
Thanks so much for following along 😁 Definitely more cool stuff to come!
I just drilled a small hole out at the back of the units and ran the cables out of the back. Kept it nice and simple 😁
Has definitely given me ideas. Moving onto the oldies property next march and have a 8x20foot shipping container that's going to be great for converting into a paint studio. Definitely gonna borrow some ideas
That sounds like a fantastic space! Glad I could be some sort of inspiration for your project 😊 All the best with it! And feel free to share your progress in the Benji’s Hobbies Community Facebook group as well - I’d love to see it!
Very nice set up on your new hobby space. Did I see Hector, the Health and Safety Frog? Hopefully, we’ll see more COLLABORATION!
Haha! You did! He drew me a picture last Christmas so it just had to go on display in the new setup!
That’s a bad ass hobby space 🤩
Thanks Beetle! I’m just a bit pleased with it!
Great video, I'm very jealous ☺
I've been weighing up whether to go kallax set up for my MESBG models, or Billy bookcase. I like the look of the kallax, but I'm concerned about fitting my armies into the cubes even with the extra glass shelf inside. Whats your opinion on it? I like to keep my armies separated within the collection and I've got a lot of Isengard haha.
Looks fantastic,,, please let us know a year on how the studio has copped with the winter, any condensation issues or damp, how warm you are when it gets to a deep freeze and if indeed you are going to use some sort of heating. Good luck. I have a pipe dream of turning a corner of my garage into self contained insulated paint and crafting Station with power and lighting,,, other than the electrics it would be a DIY project.
What a complicated process, your hard work seem to be really pay off, good job.
Have you got a portable dehumidifier to deal with moisture buildup/damp or do you find the insulation is enough? I was looking for a new place that could have a shed for my hobby stuff and I am always worried that the wet climate of the north would be a problem.
Amazing job dude the finished room looks fatastic.
Thanks man! Really happy with how it turned out 😁
If you do use solid insulation, use aerosol cans of P.U. foam round the edges to seal the gaps 👍
What did you do about the floor ? I'm planning on converting my garage as well. Like the Ryobi tools, they're really good value
This setup is still probably cheaper than buying a Warlord Titan
Haha! Might just about be!
Looking great Benji, 345 bottles.
Thanks so much! 😁
I really wish Ikea would sell those door inserts in the US...
Drop them an email! Can never hurt to let them know that there is demand for it in the states 😊
That's an amazing space! Well done. I love that desk, and think it would be ideal for wargaming on - do they do it in a 6X4?? I'm guessing 217 bottles of Administratum Grey.
I don’t think they make a 6x4 unfortunately but that would be AMAZING! I have found a way of using it to give me a bigger work surface though 😉
What did you do with the floor? Did you add any insulation/lay a floor or is it just the concrete slab?
I’m moving house soon and planning on doing something similar but not sure what to do about the floor.
6:55 might have considered getting ready made kitchen cabinets and a counter top to go over them instead
Awesome video. Did you install any form of air circulation or mini split? Noticed you have a resin printer there so was curious how you sorted out the venting of VOCs. In the summer with insulation I'd assume it would get warm as well.
Thanks so much! I haven’t got any form of air circulation at the moment however this is something that I plan on adding. I don’t do a huge amount of resin 3D printing (relatively speaking) so I don’t feel like it’s been a necessity. It does indeed get warm in the summer but it stays a lot cooler than the other half of the garage, as there is an insulating barrier between the cement roof panels and the shed. However if/when I decide to get a portable air conditioner it’ll help to keep it cooler as well, insulation works both ways 😊
Looks amazing. Just converted my garage to be my office as well
Awesome! Is it a working office or hobby office?!
@@BenjisHobbies both haha. But will be more hobby hopefully
Awesome new hobby studio. I would like to guess how many pots of citadel you would have used but. I’d say about two thousand 😂
Wow looks incredible.
Ok first things first. My guess is 12,000 citadel paint pots to cover the walls of the new hobby space.
Secondly. The new hobby space looks incredibly professional. Well done and I would love to have that type of space in my own home. One day... one day.
Finally. The display cabinet for the miniatures and the amazon lights that you used, do you have a link for them? Thank you!
What a great hobby space! I feel it would have take at least 400 citadel paint pots
Benji,
Nice video how did you get your wife to OK spending that much money on your hobby? You created a beautiful hobby studio!
I'm wondering where did you purchase that glass fronted display case? I've been searching for something like that for my shop.
Thank you for sharing!
Steve Probelski
Hey bud! Looks fantastic.
Where did you get the inserts for the Kallax?
Thanks! :D
Thank you! They’re from IKEA!
www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/kallax-insert-with-glass-door-white-70340299/
Odd question, but chair do you use in your hobby room? I am finishing up my own hobby room and need a new chair. Thank you!
Love the video. I was wondering why your glasses have had a pink reflection lately. I guess its your display case lights. Lol
My glasses have a coating on them which is meant to filter out some wavelengths of light (apparently designed for night time driving) however this gives them a slightly blue-ish tinge. I’ve got a new pair on the way and opted not to go with that coating! Haha
Could you tell me please what the size is . ( in metric would be great :) ) floor size and height ;-)
ps .. looks AWESOME !!!
I’m actually about to start doing a similar project myself. My partner has a large breeze block ‘shed’ she said I can claim as my Nerd Cave.
I’m looking forward to starting
That sounds awesome! Hopefully you can take some inspiration from the video for your own build 😊 I’d love to see your progress on it. If you’re on Facebook feel free to share it in the Benji’s Hobbies Facebook group!
@@BenjisHobbies Yeah I will do!
I won't be starting for a little while because of Christmas etc but I'll be getting at least something sorted for when I move from London to Birmingham.
The biggest thing for me is sorting out her roof and flooring. It's just bare concrete on the floor and I wanna put laminate down but also wanna weather proof. Her roof looks similar to yours a with the corrugated stuff. That'll be the biggest challenge for me I reckon.
Ikea room planner is god tier for work space planning
62,000 pots.....😳✌👍💯‼
as a cold basement hobbyist. How is the temperature now in your hobby shed?
The most anticipated video of 2022 did not disappoint! Epic set up. Got me hyped for finishing mine.
Are you supposed to put that spray down insulation in without a vapor barrier?
I love the new studio! Great job and congrats!
Thanks so much 😊
Man Im so jelly my set up is crap. Defos need one of those Gondorian sheilds lyks
Benji: "Benji? Yes... that was what they used to call me. Benji of the Hobby Shed. That was my name."
Viewers: "Benji...."
Benji: "*I* am Benji of the Hobby Garage. And I come back to you now - at the turn of the tide."
Awesome to see this all come to fruition dude, especially considering how much time and effort you've spent on it! Nice to see even more Billy Bookcases and Alex Drawers as workbench stands, they're a hobbyist/youtube staple! 😅Can not wait to see what you create in there mate - enjoy 😁
Hahaha! Love it!
Now that I’ve got the extra space it opens up so many more opportunities for building things and working on bigger projects. Watch this space!
@@BenjisHobbies I was quite proud of it 😂 good to have you back!
Thinking off insulating my shed how much was it roughly? Have you got any ventilation would be worried about condensation and stuff rotting
It was about £1100, but I was tagged on to the end of a bigger job - normally they don’t work on spaces this small. I’m not too concerned about condensation as I can open two doors when I need to to allow some airflow through.
@@BenjisHobbies fair enough will have to see what I can do down here
I've also used the ikea with glass fronts works amazing
Is there a heating inside the new Mancave?
I’ve got a small oil filled radiator which warmed up the old shed. It should be more than enough for the new garage 😊
I wonder how big the shed is, to begin with?
Hey Benji
What is the ikea shelving and glass door called?
Hey Thomas! The shelving unit is called Kallax and there are loads of different inserts for them 😊 This is the one I used: www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/kallax-insert-with-glass-door-white-70340299/
@@BenjisHobbies thanks mate
i'm going to guess around 60 pots of paint to paint the garage
A few more than that 😛
anybody know where the kallax glass shelving is from? i can't seem to find it on ikea's website
You should be able to find it here but might depend on your country!
www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/kallax-insert-with-glass-door-white-70340299/
@@BenjisHobbies thank you Benji, you're a true pillar of the community my friend. Though I do believe it's locked in my region 😢
Wow the price looks really worth it
It definitely wasn’t cheap but I think it was well worth it. I’ll definitely be getting plenty of use out of it!
I hope you've done something to the floor (couldn't see anything in the video). Working on a bare concrete surface isn't going to be great going forward especially if you're going to be using the stand version of the desk - and it's a potential heat sink in the winter months.
I’ve not got anything yet but I will be putting down some vinyl tiles.
@@BenjisHobbies Do insulated panels like Dricore. Or in the very least sheets of insulation with a false floor above.
Awesome, you made a killer job of that, the perfect place to escape and paint, sorry record content 😉
The insulation is also great for noise cancelling is all I’ll say 😅
You insulated the thing, but how is it being heated?
We’ll see how cold it gets! I used a small oil filled radiator in my last one which kept me plenty warm enough.
Fantastic. I was just confused. Why spend all that money to insulate without heat? I bet that will work well.
3/4 plywood was overkill as and structures should be attached to the stud work.
208.3 bottles?
Not sure how many citadel bottles but i know it would cost you your mortgage
