Hey mini family! There were over 200 hobby setups to roast, so I'm sorry if we didn't get to yours! If you like this video idea, we can certainly do it again sometime in the future, so let me know!
This is making me feel SO MUCH better about my house in general, not just my (currently disassembled) hobby space. Here I thought I was disorganized and messy. Some of these were straight up giving me anxiety. Edit: also, if you don’t get a cat bed for your desk, the cat lays on your wet palette instead… I use the same solution, LOL.
My Brazillian partner immediately saw the Portuguese on the boxes and sympathized with your struggle, hahaha, they wanted to offer to help with some supplies on their next trip back, if you'd like. Minha parceira brasileira immediatamente viu o Portugues na caixa e se empatizou com a dificuldade, hahaha, e queria ofecer ajuda com alguns acessorios de pintura na proxima viagem que ela fizer ao Brasil, se voce quiser.
Woot! That's me at 19:16 ! I'm retired and have adhd so.. yeah. I have a LOT of hobbies. xD The compressor actually isn't that loud, if you can believe it! Also, I mostly use it during the day when I'm the only one home so it doesn't really bother anyone. Except maybe the cats.
Yep, proper safety info should come with the printers, majority of people don't even bother with proper research because they think of it like an appliance.
The red and blue wall-mount containers at 10:30 are sold at harbor freight, are relatively cheap, and absolutely perfect for this hobby. I bought a bunch of them recently and use them to store all my paints, siphon-feed airbrush bottles, etc; you can fit 6-8 containers of paint per tray (or all your bits, bobs, doo-dads, gew-gaws and cruft, as the hobby king in the video is) - absolutely love this setup, hoping to convert a space in my garage to something similar over the winter.
Love the Harbor Freight air compressors! I have one too, mine is a 1 gallon tank. They are dual piston and are quite quiet. With my one gallon tank I can paint for quite awhile before the it kicks in and it fills up very fast so is not very irritating at all for the short time it is on.
Wicked video, and some amazing setups! I do have a question for one of the people featured: Ryan (featured at about 20:35), can you point me in the direction of what you used/made for your dropper bottle storage hooked to the IKEA pegboard? I use those pegboards, and currently have a bunch of their flat trays with my paints on them, but having dropper bottles stored at an angle like that looks AWESOME! I'd assume it's some sort of custom 3D printed solution, so if there's a place to get those files please enlighten us!
@@joeltaylor1659 I completely forgot to update. I found a few different designs for the pot holder STL files available online! Searching for "IKEA Skadis paint bottle holder" should find them.
I am inspired to start rebuilding and improving my painting area. I've not been happy with it and am constantly running out of space. Except the stuff that is stored I never access, and a lot of the stuff that is out could be stored based on how infrequently I use them.
This was a great watch! Always nice to see what others are using for their hobby space. I’d love to get in on the next one too. And serious props to the trucker that has the setup on the go. 🤙
aw man how did I miss this contest. awesome. anyone who has only 1 company of paint and has super clean setup is only in hobby for less than 2 years and most likely plays 1 type of game. great set ups . @scott don't worry I copy you with the air purifier for the printer
This was an awesome video! (Even though they had my setup listed under the name Travis @15:09! haha) I really like the balance of funny jokes and actually good ideas! I am definitely going to use the binder clips on tube paints and other oddly shaped stuff. Thank you!
I would like to state it depends on the alignment of the cat. A lawful cat will not knock over or fuck with a single mini, a chaotic cat will slip and somehow destroy your computer, livelihood and Roth IRA
Best solution I’ve stumbled across to save desk space is nail polish acrylic racks. Cheap, easily installed, and clear plastic so you can see the paint bottles clearly
I try to keep everything off the desk (with the exception of what I am working on at the moment). When you have storage trays on the desk, the tray takes space but you also have to keep the space in front of it unobstructed or you can't open it. Also, if you spill, it gets on the storage and if that is made out of MDF it will soak up the liquid and fall apart.
Mine is basically full roast. I don't think there's anything good about it lol! It also has to be mobile! It's all about fitting it around the parrots!
I just downsized my setup from my friends house, who allowed me a ton of space, to an apartment so I really had to optimize my space. Or so I thought, most of these photos are working with a lot less so it put my setup in perspective. If you do I part 2, I'll post mine and I look forward to it
I didn't make the cut this was cool nonetheless! That idea with hanging the oil paints is brilliant! I think that last set up was a Star Trek replicator. Cheers.
17:20 my issue with drawers is that my desk it cluttered and when I need to pull a drawer open, it tends to bump stuff. The solution is to keep the desk space clear in front of the drawers but HOW OFTEN DOES THAT HAPPEN?
i want to see you roast fellow creatives content creation stations next. the lighting and cable management reaction alone would have me rolling laughing.
Watching this has made me mindful about the hole I call a hobby setup. Good job projecting another wave of fun into our hobby, still tuned in for another drunken mini painting!
1). You should rename it to "Scott being roasted while trying to roast other setups" 2). Your vocals are sick mate, you should use it more often in your vids, period. 3). Noice idea for a series, maybe split it 50/50 per episode between "the good" and "the bad" setups/paintjobs? Just throwin' some ideas. 4). Sending luv from Poland. Hornz up!
Made it into the video! So happy and the comments are absolutely correct 😄 please make this a series I've been laughing and rewatching this again and again 🤣
Great Video! I have a nice work bench according to wife or she is a great liar. I just wanted to say as a former trucker, I used to build minis while was on the road. Just had to pack a tackle box and go to work. Just don’t spill the paint in the bunk…… don’t ask how I know just trust me. I was doing this in the late 90’s.
The California air compressors are actually quiet probably than a lot of air brush compressors and cheaper and far more air! I use a fortress 1gal from HF which is even a bit quieter than that one and it works great!
this is great, i love to see how i've grown from just a tiny little writing desk, to a full size print and paint studio. i'm still poor as shit, i can't paint for shit, and i'm a failure.... but dude have you ever used a vortex shaker tho? :o
Hey I was the one with my dog in the chair! Her name is Luna and she loves jumping into chairs! When you pull out a chair she jumps up looks at you like “thanks for pulling out my chair!!”
The next one should be called Roast or Toast! Get people to send in anything to be judged on if it’s great or bad. I’d like to see more good hobby setups too for inspo!
to be fair, every one of them with near to no space and a cheap and crappy set up. they're all champs for painting mini's with whatever they have! I don't mind all the cheap setups!
I hobby in a closet. I will shoot a pic to the TUP page... sad I missed the roast, dammit man - no time to pay much attention to everything. Rock on sir! Love seeing the better half in the videos.
7:30 in my very recent experience dry airbrushing them is not enough. Rinsing them water and using a soft brush to careful brush worked better than I thought. But man are you sad when you realize the top layer is water soluble (like Army Painter speed paint or Dirty Down rust or something).
Personally I have a utility cart with all my airbrush stuff on it. I just don't have the room for a full time airbrush setup so I wheel it out to the kitchen table when the kids are asleep and I want to use it. So I wheel it into the pantry/laundry room when not in use.
Two questions: 1) when / where did you ask for these pics?? I would have loved to send pics of my setup but never saw the post / info about it 2) WHERE DO I GET THAT NECRONOMICON PILLOW?!?!?!
I once had an additional 2 shelves for hobby. And then my parrot decided he wanted the shelf above my desk for play. We engaged in a fierce territorial war. I put my things on the shelf. He threw them off and put his things on the shelf. Repeat. I lost.
Hey mini family! There were over 200 hobby setups to roast, so I'm sorry if we didn't get to yours! If you like this video idea, we can certainly do it again sometime in the future, so let me know!

Yeah make it an ongoing series👍
Do another one! So I can throw mine in there haha
hell yeah was a lot of fun to watch
There was some good tips too I'm going to get some glass doors this weekend. Definitely do this again!
If this turned into a monthly series I'd watch every single episode without fail.
Make this a series. Im telling you. Im still laughing at some of these riffs.

I love how in some moments this video turned into "Amber roasts Scott's dreams". You guys are great
Are you going to do a Part 2? I'm sure you have enough content. Also, thanks Amber for showing the love!
Depends on the response to this video but probably sometime in the future!
Yay I'm on a Miniac video! \o/
Absolutely hilarious! Also cool seeing that other people also struggle a bit with their setups...
10/10 as usual

This is one of my favorite videos in your channel. laughed way more than I should have. You guys make a great team.
I am flabbergasted every time I see resin printers with little to no ventilation. Y’all are crazy
For sure man, people are way too lax when it comes to fumes. I see it with enamels and white spirits/oil paints all the time too.
Yep, proper safety info should come with the printers, majority of people don't even bother with proper research because they think of it like an appliance.
And airbrushing, very few people I've seen use even basic safety precautions and its pretty nuts

Excited that I made the cut and appeared in the vid. And you didn't say anything bad!
20:50 That Skadis board, the 3D printed organizers, pair of LED camera lights. Love this setup. Clean.
This is a great video as it shows how to creatively squeeze more stuff into small area.

Hey Scott, I'm the 13yr old! Thanks for including my setup!

15:43 was my set up, glad you enjoyed it. That is the result of being in this hobby for over four decades! 😱
And yes, I did take over the entire basement to turn it into a hobby floor. In fact I bought a new house so I could do just such a thing 😈

i want to see you roast fellow creatives content creation stations next. the lighting and cable management reaction alone would have me rolling laughing.
