People give Taramps a lot of gripe but I love that they exist as they provide lots of power for affordable prices. Once upon a time you had to pay almost $4K just to get 8K watts, but thanks to Taramps you can get that kind of power for like $600! That’s a great advancement in technology lol
BINGO!
@nate0 - you have no idea what you're talking about.
In 90s it was a $1.00 a watt imagine paying that today alot of people would be having 500 rms to 1000 rms builds
Couldn't have said it better 👏
I think they're jealous of the price.
These videos help me decide what to buy for builds. Thanks for keeping us informed so we dont duped by whats wrote on the box.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
same here. Bought my Trauma amp after Big Ds review. Also an Orion amp come to think of it
Got my jp95 because of these videos
@HammerBack0 /02 nice! Which Trauma Concussion amp did you get? That is one amp that I have never heard a single person say anything bad about! I have a Trauma Concussion Series 3k myself. I done like you said you did, I bought it right after I saw Big D do the dyno vid of the smaller Trauma (thinking he tested the Concussion 2k amp in that video, correct me if I'm wrong).
I've been thinking about buying one of the 4 channel Trauma amps. I think Steve at Amp Meds done a GREAT job on the Trauma amps BUT I wish he'd atleast added a clip light on the bass remote! 😔
@@itdoesntmatterwhatyourname6128 I have my set up all Taramps the 800x4 is a great small amp and they put out what they say in the box
I love that you test all these different amps, and show us the actual numbers! Being a long time fan of MTX amps and subs, I would REALLY love to see some of the current MTX models on your channel.
Thanks for the suggestion 👍
Thanks for these vids man very interesting to see how they perform
Thanks I enjoy making them 👌
Thanks for another great video Big D! I didn't even realize Taramps had changed the MD8000 amp... I do like the 4v RCA but do not care as much for the rated power being at 14.4v like their BASS line. Lots of Taramps users loved the MD line and the Smart3 & Smart5 amps due to them making rated power at 12.6v.
I Personally have a Smart3 and a MD8000.1 that I bought a long time ago after seeing your reviews. Thanks for the knowledge & info you put out for the community.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
The MD8000.1 even the newer EX is still rated at 12.6v
I have the md8000 2 ohm version, i run it with 2 deaf bonce subs wired to 2 ohms. It has been an awesome amp. I got it used in great shape for $400. Thats 5 cents per watt! What an amazing value!
Incredible 😲
the price is low because you pay in dollars and the engineers work for the Brazilian real, it's the same reason for the WEG inverters also developed in brazil
Having been an old school mobile audio enthusiast now more so home audio / amateur audiophile I love the different videos and tests on this channel! The added bits of comedy and funny non serious brick a brack are Outstanding as well. I'm also getting some great ideas for a power house home audio house shaking subwoofer system. Thanks Williston Audio Lab's! Keep it coming.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Love it when you post em up on a Sunday.
Should be my regular
i have got a few taramps amps figured out the problem ( people try to run them without enuff power ) taramps has sent me the parts free of charge every time . they even sent a whole board once , there customer service is awsome ! they are some of the best sub amps out there ask sam he loves them . put tinted plexiglass on the bottom and swap out the fans for rgb cpu fans for a cheap cool look !
I think starting at fourteen and a half volts is bang on, that's going to mimic 99.5% of us. Cheers D
Oh dude, I appreciate the 8 ohm test at the end too, hell yeah! 👊
👌😬👍
Manufacturers use 14.4 volts, when they spec their gear, to exaggerate their power ratings.
I'm building a system for a buddy at work and because of your videos I was able to recommend an amp that I know will perform for him. Thanks D, your a stud!
You go man!
love your vids. as much as I love seeing the quad box Bump. kicker fan for life. livin loud

I've got the 2ohm version of this amp on 4 Skar DDX 12s in an aeroport box I built myself..... These are some seriously powerful amps.

Stestom Amplifier Is Better
@@trueneutral3092 soundqubed audio Hdx3 18's
@vanessa booth and a Sound Digital is better than Stetsom... AND a Trauma Concussion is better than both of those amps. Point being, so what!!! There will always be a product that is superior to the one being talked about!
I would consider this running @ 4ohm just for that efficiency . Plus have the ability to push more power later on after upgrading the electrical to move that kinda power .
I actually bought an 8k just to run my dual 4ohm single 12" (roughly 3ohm after rise) for the efficiency. It was cool to play around with even being able to run the sub coils in series with that much power available. Although I was using 3kw rms class AB before, I thought I'd try out not only having more power on tap, but at roughly the same power draw. My personal downside was the SQ degraded noticeably.
Taramps makes a MD3k in a 4ohm version that make 3000 RMS @ 4ohms. They also have a 1ohm and 2 ohm version of that amp. They might have a 4 ohm of the MD8k I'm not sure. But I've done what you're describing in the past of running an amp at 4ohm until I got a 2nd sub then running at 2ohm and doubling the power by halving the resistance.
Id be running 2 1/2 to 4 ohm coils with rise on two 8 ohm 1000w electrovoice 15 inch loudspeakers I think they can handle about 90v max
With that kind of efficiency I'm wondering if you can get get away with just two runs of four guage
Excellent video. Like how you show all the details of the guts. 👍👍

God i just love how these amps look….
Good to see it being dual input now. Dont like the fact they rate it at 14.4 now though. Cant wait untill there is a smart bass 8k. Ill order 4 of them straight away.
Me and my friends had this discussion which we feel a smart 8k is on the way and designing their products better which is good for us bass heads
Agreed, I currently have thier bass 8k and it's a beast! I'd buy a smart 8k bass in a heartbeat if they come out with one!
really? to me they look like something one would expect to be cheaply made. as long as you can feed them the power, they seem pretty decent.
@@Pinion512 looks like fisher price made them lol
I hope they make a smart 8k I’m definitely buying it.
Just to keep your wires from getting cross, a little trick I do on the amps I repair is to mark the "+" terminals with a "RED" marker, speaker and remote also. Not much but it does give you a visual reference.
You could also cut a little piece of red and or black heat shrink for + & -

It is a lot of power for the money and honestly one of the most popular amps I've seen but, the MD line isn't known for lasting to long. I would choose the smart 5 first. Makes A SHIZZ TON of power and it's regulated power supply tries to keep it healthy. If the 2 synergy wfo 3ks break the smart 5 is where I'll prob go. Im running around 7-8k not wired to the dirt. They're prob last till a smart 7k comes out. That'll be oodles of juice yo! Keep up the good work, shinning the light on the good and the bad helps us all, and we appreciate it
I'd rather have the smart 5k. Probably more powerful and better technology. Great video as usual!
I’d agree and think it’s a better choice as well
I also agree, considering the impedance rise is not really a factor with the smart amps. Definitely more bang for the buck.
Same I’m getting it next few weeks love
My smart 3 already
💯
Having had both, the smart 5k seemed to "smart" and would clip more often. Both amps set with a DD1+
Hey Big D, in Brazil we call internal audio when the system is made to be listened inside the car (SQ and SPL) and external when it's made to be listened out of the car (trio, paredão)
Thanks for the clarification 👍
Thank you for that review I've been on the fence with this brand
👌😬👍
Yes. What I’ve been waiting for.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
More big powaa!
This looks to be just enough power to run my tweeters!😁
You know I've always been of the philosophy that you can always turn it down but you can't always turn it up.
This amplifier could replace all four of my Orion 2150s and be double their power.
More to come. Thank you LTO 😂👍
Nice to see another Orion fan. I'm out of the bass game these days but had a 2350 WAY back around 1987 with a 200CRX set to 50Hz.
@@MrV1NC3N7V3G4 Well it's either recap my old amps or go with something new like this.
I would still like to use my 30 DB LP crossover for the sub amps.
I'm going to check in to see how much it will cost to recap them.
I had to replace an entire bank of MOSFETS on my 2350 because I sold it to someone and they hooked up a 2 Ohm load to it. I didn't have the HCCA variety that was stable down to 1 or .5 Ohms. After I got it back, I replaced the transistors and it worked perfectly again.
@@MrV1NC3N7V3G4 Yeah I never went competition I only had my system for me.
They're old now and the electrolytics are drying out on them. So I'd probably have to get them recapped. I'm not super handy with the solder gun so I'd have to pay someone to do it.
I haven't listened to the system in years. The amps been just sitting in the garage.
My brother had a 250 HCCA I bought it for him as a present.
I believe it's still around somewhere.
I really like that old crossover the 30 DB LP.
But it uses the five pin for the phantom power you know.
I guess I could still use it if I could take one of the cables and convert it to RCA or something.
That I don't know how complicated that would be because they turn on wires built inside that thing as well.
I have always thought Taramps are a clean looking amp.
👌😬👍

Ex model hmm Nice!! I almost bought a smart 5 bass even though the regular smart 5 seems to put out a little more. I currently run 3 md8000’s in The Science Project (Malibu build). I clamped 2800 watts last season. My build is cool but I knew it had more in it. Went out last week and played around. Went to a show this weekend and in the lanes I clamped over 8700 watts out of one amp. Talk about a Super Happy Basshead. I plan on keeping the amps but I will have to address the pressure inside the cabin now. Keep up the great work with the videos I love and appreciate them. Peace and Bass to anyone reading this comment ✌️🔊

Crazy how much good quality wattage you can buy now days for so little money. I remember back in the early 2000s, you couldn't get an 8K amp or even anything near that for $450-600.
