Very nice units, slick design and color scheme, but looking at the amperage draw I'm hugging the fire extinguisher! Holy molly! Great test, great amps, keep it up.
You'll def need a change in your voltage setup with these. They draw big amperages. But you cannot get power without so its expected. Big 3 recommended.
Thanks for another great review! I noticed that the amps drew less amperage at .67 than they did at 1 ohm yet produced more wattage. Very cool. Still, at around 500 to 700 amp draw when pushing them they will absolutely require some beefy electrical upgrades. That said I agree with you, they are very well made amplifiers.
Don't forget these tests are using test tones, music is much more dynamic unless you listen to rebassed stuff. You still need beefed up electrical but not the 320aH of LTO that I have
@@wal Right on. I've just upgraded my Suburban big 4 to 2/0 gauge in anticipation of upcoming changes to my system. 1/0 would have been fine but I found a killer deal on r larger wire so figured why not 😆

@@edtexas5064 as I said, buy some headphones, you're not putting thousands of watts into an audio system in a car for the people inside the car, be real for a moment. I'm so glad you tested these amps . There really put out the power . These an the wolfram's are good choices . Being there are very stable under one ohms load. Definitely having lithium battery banks is a must to have them doing the job, preventing clipping on your expensive subwoffers . Thanks again big D wiz love the channel your doing great things . Can you maybe try testing one those , ( RUTHLESS AMPS).
Im kinda confused. I watched another dyno of this amp by Hi-Fi and the amp did 6619 dynamic at 1ohm. This one only did 5575 dynamic at 1ohm. That's a huge difference. Something doesn't seem right. I don't think they are running that much different power wise to test them are they?
I’ve ran a very similar wolfram at .17 on speakers. As long as you rolled into even test tones it never protected. Only protected if you burped tones at clipping. Pretty typical for high quality Korean. Done it with DB aak and salt series also. .33 on speakers is always fine with these types of amps. Just expect a lot of current draw. Great video 👍🏼👍🏼
Somebody math ain’t mathin’. …… .17 load = my 🍑 Good lawd, What’s next? Negative ohm load? That’s what I wire my omega 40k to bro! -.68 ohm load, Do me and I owe you one style!! When you wire reverse (negative ohm load) it’s like a Tesla when it regenerates during braking!
@@caseytbss yes my math is correct. I currently have 3 db aak 20,000.1 wired at .4. They don’t even get hot. Clamp about 21k an amp on speakers. I’ve spent $15k on electrical. So they stay above 16 volts.
Wolfram was basically twisted sounds same exact board different heatsink. As soon as they swapped to the new model amps they started sucking my old 4500 which was number 67 in production was my favorite amp I’ve owned. Got a aw5000 and couldn’t even get 5k out of it. My 4500 clamped almost 6500
@@Chuck_Sanders As I said on my other post: "I think your confusing rebadging with copying. Its two different things. When I first started looking into all these "rebadged" amps I thought just like you. They seemed identical. It wasn't until I looked deeper and did more research that I realized what I though was rebadging was actually different companies coping the same design. Even when you have similar looking products coming from the same builder. You have to look deeper. Look at the components, count the winds on the transformers, disect the mcpcb. Different amp companies can tell these build houses to make a product to different standards. Use a cheap transformer in this brand and a more expensive one in that brand. This is why you see similar looking amps perform differently, even when they come from the same build house. Different component tolerances, thicker board traces, etc... The average person does not pick up on these nuances. They look at the underside of an amp and see that the basic layout is the same as this other amp and just assume they are identical. Its simply not the case. Even amp repair techs like Barevids will tell you they are not identical. He often will say they are the same, but what he means is they are the same layout and basic design, not that they are literally the same."
@@JasonWW2000 so, I have had 3 comments removed. We work and have worked with S and I out of Korean as well as Zennon. We work with Sound and Power, AF, JLD and more out of China, as well as a few other build houses. About 65% or more are rebadged products. They have different heatsinks...and maybe use metal pots and gains attenuators versus a plastic one, and some use "Tiffany style" rca's where others don't. Again, I have dozens upon dozens of cloned SounDigital amplifiers from a few build houses in China, and one in particular makes about 7 brand names and are 100% identical through and through, component for component...and a few have a Big Brand name on the boards, and they just use a black fabric tape glued over the name. The same goes for S and I amplifiers, and with Zennon. Each company brands and pays the premiums for a custom heatsink and silk screening, or etching. Most of these aren't anything new, and are advertiseded with under rated power ratings, as it helps to sell better. Hell, a CAB22 and the Power Acoustik Vertigo 10k are the same, except the CAB22 cheaped out and used less fets. All other components are the same. That's one example only. Subwoofers/drivers...mids to tweeters are no different, as many are just a rebadged speaker/subwoofer. I have been in audio as a whole for over 3 decades, so none of this is new to me. Rebadging/Me too branding is everywhere. From full bridge to half bridge, to speakers and subs...it's more prevalent than you want to believe.
@@Chuck_Sanders Ah, it is good to have someone here who is familiar with manufacturing. I've worked with certain Chinese manufacturers helping design flashlights. I know it's not the same as amps, but it's very similar as far as companies cloning and copying each other. I think we are pretty much in agreement. Your saying it's not rare based on what your seeing more recently plus you have a broader definitionof the term. I'm saying it's rare based on hundreds of brands over several decades plus a narrow definition. So I think we can both be correct depending on the number of brands involved and how we define "rebranded". I think what we are referring to is a bit murky. I don't consider it an exact item if there are changes other than cosmetic. So different rca, different pots, etc... I consider it a clone and not a rebadge. You consider it a rebadge. That also makes my estimation of rebadges smaller than yours. No big deal, I think we are both right. 😁 It would be cool if you could help me educate audio people that just because two amps have similar board layouts it doesn't mean they are exactly the same. It's such a common problem I see. It should always be on a case by case basis and not just assumed. Sometimes they are exactly the same item (Teampie selling to PBoyz, PowerHogg, EMF, JonesSS, etc...), but most of the time they are not (Audiopipe AP3000 and Taramps HD3000). That's really the point I want to get across. Don't assume it's the same. It might be, but not likely.
I forgot about the 1 question I have about this Surge 7k I just purchased. I'm upgrading from a Skar RP3500.1 and the ANL fuses I've got installed right now are 300A. So my question is do I need to go to a larger fuse or is 300A good to go? Any advice is much appreciated because I've been out of the bass scene for quite some time so I'm basically learning about car audio all over. Thanks any and everyone ahead of time!!
Love the video Big D!!! I think it would be awesome if you also did testing comparing the differences as far as the reactive real world in the car clamping the inputs and outputs of an amp to see the differences idk I think it would be cool 😎! Love this little beast of an amp and love the colors!!!
I don't think that kind of testing would be consistent or relevant. There are too many variables. By doing tests in a consistent manor you can better compare different brands and models.
@JasonWW2000 if he was to charge at 14.8 wired to a set of d2 woofers down to 0.5 ohm it would show us, A what the amp could do real world wattage and current pulled after introducing impedance rise I think that would be a petty awesome relative test.
@@justforlaughs8988 Thats both too specific and not specific enough. The impedance curve of the drivers will be influenced by the type of enclosure, size and tuning frequency they are in and the size of the vehicle. The impedance curve is how the amp makes power. We can already infer what the amp will do at lower impedances. So the test you describe would be useless. How would your test be relevant to a person using a Cmax battery? Not very. Most people running really big amps are using lithium. I guess your asking for these tests because you don't know how to take the info from the bench test and translate it into how it would perform in your specific setup. Thats valid, not everyone can do that. You don't really need specifics, you just want a general understanding of how it would work on real music. The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself. Get your subs and play them in your vehicle, watch the impedance change, measure your current draw, see how low your voltage dips, etc... If your setup only ever dips down to say 2 ohm then you know at max unclipped volume this 4k amp is gonna draw about 275 amps. Can your alternator and battery supply that kind of current? If not, limit the volume so the amp draw is less. It really is that simple. Once you know what the amp does you can put that info into your situation and determine if its going to work for you or not. If you want, you can tell me your setup and I can recommend what amp size you should get.
I saw these amps before I purchased my deaf bonce apocalypse AAK.. I had never heard of them before, but I was intrigued. I didn't see much research on these, so I didn't. Now I regret it.
@@wal yeah, but they cost a bit more, and require a lot more electrical. I had a 320 alt, lithium, two agms, and a supercap and still had voltage drop. Hard. From 14.2 to 11.8.. and then clip city.
Is that subwoofer box an off-the-shelf buy or is that a custom made enclosure? I'm definitely gonna buy the 4000 watt amp and want to run a quad woofer setup in my mk4 jetta.
Amazing Power🤯🤯🤯 Brutal Monsters...but they are looking great, nice an smooth... undercover Qualtity?!?!?! Good job as always man... big thumb up for this vid👍🙋♂️
Very nice. I notice the power output counted up very smoothly. Does this translate to better sound quality than ones that don't do that, or is that not noticeable with bass amps?
Another thing I wanted to comment on Every time a amplifier goes into protection it slowly damages components ?You know how I know? From experience? Blowing up amplifiers with not enough current supply to the amplifiers?
Like he said the reason why the amplifier goes into protection at. 5ohms because there is not a impedance rise? If he was using subwoofers it would be. 8ohms or 1ohm
Hi boss i was wondering if when u do the amp dynos do u have to turn up the gain on the amp or not even have to mess with it o was wondering how that works
The gain on the amp is set to the head unit with 10dB of overlap using the DD-1+. Amp won’t produce more power if gain is higher, it will just reach max power sooner. This may be a good video topic 🧐
Absolutely love this amp! I'd trade my salt 8 for a surge 10k, np. Freaking love their bass knob. Way cooler than the salt knobs. These amps take a damn beating too. Well made!
You would need the surge 10K to compete with the salt 8 and the bass knobs are pretty much the same. They're made in the same factory along with the JP amps and the ruthless audio amps.
@@glennonheinrich8185 really, they're made in the same s&i factory in Korea? They're the same bass knob? Wow! You really seem to know your stuff. Thanks bud. Derp.

You'll def need a change in your voltage setup with these. They draw big amperages. But you cannot get power without so its expected. Big 3 recommended.
Crazy stuff! This test was so intense it caused an earthquake in Turkey.
1/0 would have been fine but I found a killer deal on r larger wire so figured why not 😆
Bid D Wiz thank you for doing these videos. Do you know anyone who fixes the old Fosgate amp or have a direction you can point me to? Thank you. Watching from Houston Texas.
Desert audio specialists are the guys I sent my amps to for fixing. They are the actual old school rockford engineers and rockford fosgate pointed me in their direction.
I love it when BigD drops a new video!
Do ya'll recommend running the 7K @.5ohm if you have the electrical. I have BrandX 390, Dual 0ga power/ground runs everywhere and dual copper 0ga amp inputs on each pwr/ground terminal on for the amp. Oh and 80ah CES Lithium bank. Will be pushing 2 B2 Audio Rage XL 12's. They are rated @2500rms each.
Love the surge audio amps but they need to make a 2000.1
Always enjoy your vids and this one is no exception. How about that amp draw! Going to need a serious alternator and and extra battery or two.
John price should sponsor this channel along with skar, sundown, and kicker.
Im going to try this amp out
Good testing we’re is he 10K amp test we got the 4K and the 7k the 10k will be great Test 👍🏻
Budget Gem tested the 10k. It’s linked in the video description
Man, I miss driving around bumping my old system. Not been able to drive a car since 2017 and I 100% miss being a basshead.
Buy some headphones. Bumping bas in the car is not for you. It's for others...not good for your ears...not the most respected either
@@ubeuonly Nope. It was for me. Always played music loud at the house and when driving I normally bumped when on the highwys or empty roads. I didn't need to call attention to everyone around me on a packed street. City driving I had my subs turned off or turned waaay down.
@@edtexas5064 as I said, buy some headphones, you're not putting thousands of watts into an audio system in a car for the people inside the car, be real for a moment. I'm not even ghetto mentality but I've always have systems and every car as I've been in the industry for 45 years, never had over 500 w a real power in any car and my system was always capable of 135 decibels and I'm suffering some hearing loss from occasional high-volume use. Big woofers are ignorant and from the streets and made for playing ghetto ass music, and that's not something to be proud of booming down the street. Attention and nothing more.
Great video Big D. if you gonna hook this amp in your car better have some good alternator and wiring.
Every Leatherman owner knows "Surge is King"!
Oh hell yeah!!! I wanna see the 10 k amp. Was thinking of getting the wolfram aw9k but never in stock
Just wanted to let you know at least one guy is hoping you never quit the Allen keys jokes, knowing it's coming just makes it funnier for me
Im kinda confused. I watched another dyno of this amp by Hi-Fi and the amp did 6619 dynamic at 1ohm. This one only did 5575 dynamic at 1ohm. That's a huge difference. Something doesn't seem right. I don't think they are running that much different power wise to test them are they?
Yeah that’s weird Bass dad just did a video on this same amp and he got about same as big d.
I'm sure it's closer to this number.
That's a badass amp for sure
Really nice bass knob
The heatsink design appears to promote effective convection! Prices seem reasonable too. Good numbers and impressive efficiency. Thumbs up for me!
😬👍
I remember what feels like not long ago that an amp with 4000W may as well been infinity watts.
Great price for this product!!
DJ Fishmaster is Watching and Loves Your Videos Brother
Did not know Colin Buckeye was behind this brand...Great AMPS...
2x salt8s strapped at .7 clamping almost 25k... 190ah cmax not even stressing the draw lol

Good lawd, What’s next? Negative ohm load?
That’s what I wire my omega 40k to bro! -.68 ohm load, Do me and I owe you one style!! When you wire reverse (negative ohm load) it’s like a Tesla when it regenerates during braking!
@@scottouimet2865 2 salt 12’s strapped at .25 clamping 49,500. Popped amps frequently
@@caseytbss yes my math is correct. I currently have 3 db aak 20,000.1 wired at .4. They don’t even get hot. Clamp about 21k an amp on speakers. I’ve spent $15k on electrical. So they stay above 16 volts.
@@scottouimet2865 sounds about right. Very nice 👍🏼
Big D, what's your quad box wired to and do you change the wiring when testing different amps?💯
Double dyno goodness! impressive digits!

Yo bid d did u have the 4 ohm n 2 ohm test results for the 7k boss.
By same exact board, do you mean based on the same layout?
@@JasonWW2000 they were same boards, and same build house
It would be cool if you could help me educate audio people that just because two amps have similar board layouts it doesn't mean they are exactly the same.
When calculating efficiency. Why do you accept the value 433A if it was 470A ?
Man do I like me some low ohm load amps! Impressive stuff! There is great engineering put into these. And a quality bass knob ta-boot!
Wow. Now I wonder how long they hold up to a beating. If well, they are a solid up and comer for sure.
Looks like another solid option. Thanks, Big D 🤙

I would love to see those dynod as well. I've owned a few of those.
Have you tested any crunch amplifiers like the crunch pdx 1000.4

The AAK’s are beef as well
@@wal yeah, but they cost a bit more, and require a lot more electrical. I had a 320 alt, lithium, two agms, and a supercap and still had voltage drop. Hard. From 14.2 to 11.8.. and then clip city.

Very nice and clean looking amps :)
If possible, I’d like to see the Marts Digital 13,500
Like he said the reason why the amplifier goes into protection at. 5ohms because there is not a impedance rise? If he was using subwoofers it would be. 8ohms or 1ohm
Hi boss i was wondering if when u do the amp dynos do u have to turn up the gain on the amp or not even have to mess with it o was wondering how that works
The gain on the amp is set to the head unit with 10dB of overlap using the DD-1+. Amp won’t produce more power if gain is higher, it will just reach max power sooner. This may be a good video topic 🧐
like them amps alot i herd alot time ago there just like the wolframs i wonder
