I am brand new to cookie decorating and have been exploring the range of decorating methods. This marbling seemed like a quick and easy way to start. Using pink, green, and black with a white base turned out beautifully. I was amazed at how they turned out. And, the range of cookie colors from black-white to bright pink-green was fantastic. Having practiced making the cookies and creating colored icings previously, this process was pretty quick to complete. Will keep this in my repertoire. Thanks very much for your well-presented videos!
love this video - thank you for sharing. The one I saw a couple of years ago added straight gel colors into the icing and it works but sometimes I got pockets of the gel and it didn't dry as well as I'd like. I like your way better. The colors mix easier...can't wait to try these.
Sometimes if im taking too long or doing lots and not adding enoug icing to jt, it may start to. But if you have a damp paper towel with you and every so often cover it just to let it absorb some of the moisture and prevent it from crusting
That's a great technique, thanks for the tutorial I'll try it with my nieces this Christmas. Btw... do you have any recommendations on how to save them during the day or for putting them as little gifts? Thanks in advance! :)
I am really happy that I saw this one. These are stunningly beautiful cookies!!! I want to try this technique on some cookies for Turkey Day. I always think that giving Christmas Cookies on Thanksgiving is too early. I also don’t want My Family and Friends to think that they are their Christmas Gift. I just want to share something with Them for a small Thanksgiving Day Gift. I could just drop off a package of them with The Social Distancing right now. Thank You again. Happy Turkey Day!!! 😊👍🏼👋🏼❤️🦃🍗👋🏼
Thank you! I think these would be a beautiful gift for Thanksgiving and they would be really happy to receive them! Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving ❤
Yes, it's so much fun! Most people lately like they're cookies to be white and slightly undercooked. I use brown sugar in my recipe so that adds to the colour of mine but if you use regular sugar or powdered sugar then cookies are lighter in colour. I like my cookies to have a nice brown colour, I find it more flavorful but I do forget them in the oven sometimes and over bake them 🤣 but I still use them for videos! Happens to the best of us.
those cookies are so Beautiful. thank you for this video. I am going to try this. I am going to bake some Cookies and send them to my son. How long do these cookies Last ? Or stay fresh. Thank you so much.
Thank you!! They last about weeks or so freshness wise if they are just sitting out in a container (I've had them a month later and they're still fine just sometime a little more crisp, but nothing a little dip in coffee didn't solve). I would say if you can heat seal them, or maybe have them in a ziploc freezer bag or an airtight container would be your best bet to keep them as fresh as possible for a couple weeks!
It may work, but they aren't normally as concentrated as the gel ones and if you use too much it may thin down the icing too much. Maybe try with a bit thicker icing just in case!
I've never tried it that way, and maybe it could be done like that. But from my experience coloring icing, the gel colours are very concentrated and so you'd want to stir it in quite well because you wouldn't want a big blob of gel color on your cookie. And not sure if you stirred it in well enough if you would still have a marbled look in your icing. But there's no wrong way, if it works then why not!!
@@LittleCookieCo Thanks for your reply 🙂. I've actually done this technique with buttercream, and it turns out quite well....but royal icing is a different animal. Thanks for your fantastic videos!
Oh how cool! Yeah I feel like it would work better with buttercream because the consistency I imagine would be thicker so would give that marbeled look when mixed. But I wouldn't be surprised if it would work with RI too!
If you mean shape... yes! If you mean like a chocolate chip cookie or shortbread etc, it depends. It has to he a somewhat sturdy cookie, because when you dip it in the icing it creates a bit of a suction and may break the cookie if it's too soft.
I love your Channel and all your tips are amazing! Thank you so much! I have a question about royal icing. How do you know if RI is no longer good to use? I have mixed colours sealed in bags in the fridge since Thanksgiving (October 2021), would it be too old to re-use? Thank you.
Thank you!! I would say it's probably too old. I don't think it necessarily goes bad (usually a taste test will tell you if it's gone bad) because the amount of sugar in it acts like a preservative. However I don't like using icing that's older than a week or so in my fridge because it doesn't have the same consistency. I prefer freezing my icing then k know it's good for a few months. I also find my icing gets gummy and separates and can't be massaged back together when it's too old!
@@LittleCookieCo Thank you so much! I will definitely throw it away...and make sure I freeze my next batch leftovers! Thx again, looking forward to your next posting 👍
I'm not a fan of oven drying because my oven is too warm, but you can put a fan to blow on them and that helps with shine as well as adding corn syrup to your icing!
I like to leave it for as long as the cookies take to crust over, so could be up to 30/40 minutes. I personally use a dehydrator at a very low heat setting and fan and leave them in there while I work on different steps!
Did you mean corn syrup? They call it frankenfrosting, a mix between glaze and royal icing. Glaze has a soft bite but doesn't hold shape well, royal icing holds shape well but has a hard bite so together they are just perfect!
I always make sure I leave my cookies for about 8 hours to fully completely dry and make sure they are uncovered when you leave them. If you want to do this as a based and then do more details on top, you can let them dry for 30-45 minutes for them to develop a crust and you can pipe the next layer!
Actually..it never occured to me..but im so doing this today.....i li e doing cakes and am doing cookies today for them...i really hate doing cookies...its something only dentists would live doing..people who obsess on perfection...and detail...not me at all....

Thank you so much!! Its such a great technique to know as it looks beautiful and it's relatively quick (and so much fund to do)!
I was looking for beautiful, trendy patterns to add to a box of cookies with ones with a major pattern, work. Very good.
I love this technique. So easy but a real wow factor! I’ve never tried it with all the colors you used. What a great effect! Thank you for sharing!
You're very welcome! I love how versatile it is ❤❤
A nice hack to use while thinning down your royal icing, is to use a spray bottle with water that way you are less likely to put too much water.
Yes!!!
These are so cool! Thank you for showing this technique. I really need to make these too ☺️
Yay! Thank you!
I may never flood cookies again! Fabulous!
It is a big time saver if you have lots to do!
Thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I tried it and the cookies came out beautifully.
Yay!!! I'm so happy to hear that 🥰🥰🥰
OH MY GOSH...
My students would go crazy doing this...
Soooo Much Fun..
Thank you for sharing this GREAT IDEA..
Thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Can’t wait to try these with my Christmas 🎄 cookies !
Yay!! So glad to hear that ❤️

Thank you!! And yes I find if you use only gel it may be too concentrated in some areas and doesn't really dry well!
i'm so glad i found your channel. i'm just starting out and your videos are so helpful
Thank you so much!! I'm so happy they help 🥰
Thank you for this tutorial. I love it!
Aww thank you so much ❤
Thank you. This looks much easier than what I’ve seen.
So happy to hear that 🥰
Looking really beautiful ☺️😊 ......
This video is wonderful! Is the colored icing the same consistency as the white icing? Thanks!
Yes, it works best if its roughly the same consistency! Although it still works with some thicker icing as well.
Great idea for leftover cookies and icing .thanks for sharing. 💋💋🥰😍🇸🇦
Vc é mt boa profissional...!
Lindo trabalho parabéns
🙏 ❤️🥰
Thank you 😊can I ask what consistency the black icing was? Same as the base white colour or thicker so it stays in the surface?
Very Helpful idea. Thank you for sharing ❤️
Thank you 🥰
Dipped cookies get so many air bubbles! Thanks for the tip on how to avoid them :)
You're welcome 🥰🥰
Awesome tutorial, thank youuu, I will definitely try it!
❤❤❤
Eh eh
Do you have any issues with the icing in the bowl crusting.

Once they're fully dry, you can put them in cello bags, or a container or you can freeze them if you won't have them for a while!

Little Cookie Co Thank You. They are AWESOME!!!
😁🥰
Do you think it would be possible to.do this dipping technique with melted chocolate?
Wow....amazing.....very smart
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Looks awesome! I’ll have to try.
Do most people like more burned cookies? I prefer mine to be not burned at all. What do others seem to like?

video so much 😗❤️😍
Thank you so much 🥰🥰
I love your tutorials! How thick do you make your cookies? Thank you
Thank you 🥰 I usually just go by feel and never actually measured but I'd say around 3/8ths give or take. Sometimes they end up thinner though too!
Amazing ! Thank you so much for sharing ❤
You're so welcome!!
Thank you!!! Love the tutorial!
🥰🥰🥰
wonderful!
Thank you!!
I would love to try this! Do you think I could just use liquid food coloring to get the effect? The kind that comes in little dropper bottles?
It may work, but they aren't normally as concentrated as the gel ones and if you use too much it may thin down the icing too much. Maybe try with a bit thicker icing just in case!
Stunning 😍
Thank you!!
What was the other powder you added to icing sugar in mixer
That is already meringue powered! It makes the icing dry harder so that you can handle the cookies without running the icing!
so beautiful...😍😍😍
Beautiful
Thank you very much!
Incredible job:)
Thank you so much ❤
Is there any reason to swirl in colored icing vs just swirling in the food coloring directly?
I've never tried it that way, and maybe it could be done like that. But from my experience coloring icing, the gel colours are very concentrated and so you'd want to stir it in quite well because you wouldn't want a big blob of gel color on your cookie. @@LittleCookieCo It's such a fast way to make really fun cookies! Thanks again for your tutorials! 🎨
It sure is and makes for an elegant design. Or you could dip only 1 colour if you just wanted to conver the cookies quickly!
Thanks
Can you do this with any cookie type ?
If you mean shape... yes! If you mean like a chocolate chip cookie or shortbread etc, it depends. It has to he a somewhat sturdy cookie, because when you dip it in the icing it creates a bit of a suction and may break the cookie if it's too soft.
The coloured icing you use ...is it Royal icing as well?
Yes! It's all royal icing. I had some leftover colours I pulled from my freezer and added them!

Do you have to put them In the oven for a shinier finish after dipping them?
I'm not a fan of oven drying because my oven is too warm, but you can put a fan to blow on them and that helps with shine as well as adding corn syrup to your icing!
@@LittleCookieCo Ok thanks! Would I just leave them at the fan for about 20 minutes?
I like to leave it for as long as the cookies take to crust over, so could be up to 30/40 minutes. I personally use a dehydrator at a very low heat setting and fan and leave them in there while I work on different steps!
How long should I keep it until it fully dries?
I leave them overnight (make sure not to cover them or they won't dry) and usaly after 8 hours or so they're fully dry!
@@LittleCookieCo ok thank you
Thanks 🥰
Did royal icing always have corn starch?
Did you mean corn syrup? They call it frankenfrosting, a mix between glaze and royal icing. Glaze has a soft bite but doesn't hold shape well, royal icing holds shape well but has a hard bite so together they are just perfect!
Can I use food coloring in the icy

Thank you for this, want to be youtube friends?
I dont like the taste of Royal Icing--it tastes like chalk to me. I use a frosting recipe with corn syrup in it, so the cookies are shiny!!
Yes, agree! Mine has corn syrup in it as well and is super tasty!! Check it out
