In the case of displaying the results of a questionnaire consisting of more than one dimension, is it better to allocate only one table containing the results of the questionnaire as a whole, or to allocate a table for each dimension
Thank you very much for this so informative video and guide! I have one question to ask regarding the options available to place tables in papers. You mentioned that there are 2 options, either in the main text or at the end, I was wondering if it is possible to go with both options in one paper e.g. I include a table that I feel is essential in the main text and also have other tables at the end of the document after the references. If it is in fact acceptable, what would be the numbering in such a case? -is it safe to assume that all tables are numbered by order of appearance/mention or would tables included in the main text precede those at the end in terms of numbering, or vice-versa?
Good question. For Tables that are part of the paper, I believe you're supposed to either integrate them into the main body or put them at the end, so use one method or the other. However, you can include Tables in the Appendices if they are more supplemental in nature. So you put the most pertinent tables in the body and put the supplemental ones in Appendices. And the numbering would still be sequential, starting with the ones in the body.
@@APAStylebySam I see, that makes sense. Thank you for your answer! By sequential in this sense you mean let's say: Main Body: Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 and then Appendices: Table A4, Table A5 or would it be Table A1, Table A2 in the Appendices?
hi, I have a question, how to number tables in apa-7. Like if chapter4 explains results being displayed using tables, would I be numbering my tables i.e Table 4.1, Table 4.2, or do I have to number Table 1, Table 2. (note: tables are starting from chapter4)
Tables are numbered sequentially, so always start at 1 and go up from there. Chapters do not matter. So if the first table in Chapter 4 is the seventh table in your paper, it is Table 7. I believe the only major exception to that is with Appendices, in which case you would start at A1 for the first table in Appendix A, and do that for any appendix that has tables. So if you have tables in appendices A and C, the first table in each section would be A1 and C1, respectively. If you are writing a thesis/dissertation, check to see if your graduate school has specific requirements for labeling/numbering tables.
If there is room for the following paragraph, you could put that in the gap. Or you could put your tables at the end of the paper instead of in the body. Or there's just a large gap.
If you're adding more tables before tables that already exist, then yes that would change their number. Not sure on how to make that automatic - you could always wait on 'officially' numbering them until you are confident everything is in and in the proper order.
Hi there, in the past I used to submit the papers with a reference in the text "Insert Table 1 about here". Should I not do it anymore according to the new guidelines? Is it optional now?
You're a saint for actually including the tables in a template. Thanks!
where is the template?

This was such a good video wow! Thank you so much! You explained it so well.
Thank you, this is really helpful!

This is so helpful! Do you have a video on how to indent subheadings in a table?
Professional explanation. Thanks
SO Helpful! Very easy to follow! Thank you so much!
This is super helpful! Thank you so much! ❤❤❤❤
Great video! Super good work, thumbs up.
Thank you so much.
it was very helpful, thanks!
thank you
When the table goes on the next page should we put the head title of the table again on the second page?
Thank you so much for this, could you make a video on spacing ?
It is the one thing I always get wrong somewhere in the assignment.
I address spacing in other videos. Broadly, in the new edition, virtually all text is double-spaced, and no extra/blank lines between text.
@@APAStylebySam Sorry, what about the indentation of subsections within the stub column? I don't know much it shoud be. Thanks!
Thank you. I was stuck

Great
Thanks so much for the explanation. May I know if we can site screenshot with the same APA format?
Than k you so much. Could you please state where the post hoc can be stated , in table or in notes?
Can I ask what about the formatting if you have a subscale in questionnaire

Shouldnt the whole body be center aligned?
hi, how we add refereance below the Table?
You suggested to not break up a paragraph to enter the table, but what if there is a large gap in the paper?? Thank you
If there is room for the following paragraph, you could put that in the gap. Or you could put your tables at the end of the paper instead of in the body. Or there's just a large gap.
Put them in the Appendix and refer to it.
So, every time you change a table number, you have to change every other table number, is there any way to make it automatic?
If you're adding more tables before tables that already exist, then yes that would change their number. Not sure on how to make that automatic - you could always wait on 'officially' numbering them until you are confident everything is in and in the proper order.
What makes this table an APA table?
Hi there, in the past I used to submit the papers with a reference in the text "Insert Table 1 about here". Should I not do it anymore according to the new guidelines? Is it optional now?
If that's what the journal you're submitting to wants, do it. Otherwise, it's not necessary.
@@APAStylebySam thanks a lot!
very clear video, although it seems like there is a cat purring in the background
But how do we create a list of tables at the start (for a thesis)?!?! arghhh i hate my life
APA Style does not specify the components of a table of contents. For thesis formatting, check with your program.
