You can interpret it as 40 years after Pamela Voorhees' death or 40 years after Jason Voorhees' first massacre (Parts 2-4, which took place in 1984). I left it ambiguous as to which of the later movies is canon so people can have their own ideas of which of the later movies is the real "end" of Jason Voorhees (Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, and Freddy vs Jason all provide a potential "ending" for Jason but somewhat conflict when taken together).

I dont like the ending but the build up was really good. Its just its very clear that jason is just an actor and the end with the mothers showing up its way too silly . Which I suppose us also complent of how good the build up was

@@crystallakecinema that is true. Through I do mean it with the build up being really good. I like a lot how you handle the world building and some of the ideas you explore. Which I do feel is an aspect of Friday the 13th that gets overlooked and has lot of potential for different interpretions of the story.

It's a reference to the Friday the 13th lawsuit between Sean Cunningham and Victor Miller, which has kept the franchise in legal limbo for almost 5 years now. It's why the game hasn't received any updates and why no new movies have come out.
