@@Famoomoo well, yeah, in the video he used Friends' and The Office's 5x14 episodes and said they were both highly rated and famous episodes of those shows, that's why I pointed out that the same coincidence extends to a bunch of other shows.
Honestly after a couple minutes of watching friends I don’t even notice the laugh track unless somebody famous walks in and the entire audience is screaming for 5 minutes
It's why I love Modern Family so much. The mockumentary style just gets to me! The lack of a laugh track and the unstable camera just makes it feel very real like they're all an actual family. Honestly Modern Family was so great!
Really? I watched one entire season of that show to give it a chance and couldn't understand why everyone was praising it. 90% of the jokes felt forced af and I cringed a ton

Look at shows like Fuller House and One Day at a Time... the laugh tracks are ridiculous. I really don’t mind laugh tracks, maybe because I was raised off of 90s sitcoms and I’m used to it and don’t find it the least bit annoying, but holy shit the laugh tracks now are so over the top. The crowd loses their shit when a character walks into a room. Imagine Friends if the audience went wild every time the gang headed into Central Perk or every time Monica walked into a room. That would be a real nightmare.
nevermind. key I think. One Day at a Time is actually filmed in front of a live studio audience. I can actually tolerate that show because holy shit, Rita Moreno is a gift
For me who has watched friends many times entirely all alone, laugh track does give me the feeling of not being alone at all while I am watching. In fact it does give me permission to not feel like an idiot to laugh out aloud in many scenes. Even when you are watching with friends and family it does give you a homely feel to it but i get it it's a thing of past and wouldn't feel right in today's sitcoms that's why it only work with friends which really does make it special as it is of it's time.
Pretty sure this is the reason for laugh tracks. Over the last hundred years we've become less social. Pretty sure the laugh tracks became a thing to replicate the experience of attending a live showing or watching TV with a group.
If Friends wasn't shot in front of a live audience, Chandler and Monica would have been in a short-term relationship like originally planned. The long reaction from the live audience when it was revealed that Chandler and Monica slept together was what convinced the creative team to push through with Mondler.
Something I like about the office was that it doesn’t feel like a huge production or super professional. The bloopers show that the atmosphere it was filmed in was hilarious and everyone was having a great time, including the cameramen and producers.
I love friends because everyone was clearly friends with eachother and the actors plus the writing and the live audience just give you that warm feeling that everything will be okay
i dont think most of them were actually even good friends, it was just because of the tv show hype they were seen together. jennifer anniston didn't even invite half of em to her wedding.
Hey, Drew. Drew here. Just wanted to stop by and say/type that you are the only UA-camr that make ads fun to watch and not something the viewer has to suffer through. Thank you for your hard work. I'm gonna go shave now. (not sponsored)
i totally agree - the youtubers who make ads enjoyable are the best - Anna Akana does that too, her ads are super funny (just, like, if you want to watch some more fun ads lmao)
If you still hold this opinion (so if you didn't change it in the last 15 minutes) Cody Ko Noel Miller Danny Gonzalez Leon Lush I've seen all of them make good ads and follow them with good content, which is nice
I know it's been four years, but watching this video and hearing Drew appreciate the efforts of the crew of The Office really makes me smile. My dad was one of the cameramen on the show for a couple episodes, and it still seems like one of the more enjoyable work experiences he's had. He was actually one of the camera operators on Stress Relief :D
Fun Fact: Laughtracks were first added to shows because everyone at the time were used to being in plays and hearing other people laugh, so producers wanted the audience to be comfortable. And they kept doing it until newer generations came along and stopped it
what, no, your more likely to laugh if someone is laughing with you, so shows want to add the laugh track to make you wanna laugh more, it was in an episode of brain games and I trust any documentary show on Netflix
@@ybarager477 Really? When i first watched friends, i almost laughed at some jokes but then i heard the laughtracks and i stopped laughing. I watched the office first so I'm not used to hearing soundtracks and the laughs just sound so fake and i hear it everytime a character finishes talking.
@@souju_13 I actually liked laugh tracks... until I watched shows like the office and realised you could have a good sitcom without them. I never used to notice them, but now they are so so annoying every time I hear them
I heard Friends' creators say that sometimes they would change a joke because the audience wouldn't laugh so they would have to come up with a new joke and see the audience reaction. So laughs helped for that too. I like laughs, especially when something really good happens like Rachel and Ross's first kiss, they scream and it makes me feel like I'm not watching it alone.
Yes, I find it odd how he already started to force his opinion on to us. And made me feel guilty for liking laugh tracks.. I love shows without laugh tracks too like The Office, Parks & Rec, Modern Family etc. But shows like Friends, The Nanny, Will & Grace, Seinfield etc really had a good way of delivering the laugh tracks. Yes you have really afwul shows like Big Bang theory who just use them for everything, but that is also true for a lot of silent comedies. And to be honest just like, I guess laugh tracks can get too much, so do some silent comedies. Yes I love to have moments where I can also laugh on my own but some silent comedies are so silent that I start to feel alone and even get me depressed lol. It's the deliverance and the balance in both situations that's important. So I don't really agree with his glorification for mostly silent comedies. Laughing tracks can also feel homey and nice and you don't feel so alone sometimes. In his video 2 years later he also said CBS is the only channel that does laughing tracks now ''because some people don't like change and just like to stick to old stuff'' which is a really stupid take. A lot of people like both, it just has to be done right. I don't know something irks me the wrong way about these smug videos of people talking down on good shows with laughing tracks. :/
Same It also made me laugh more and the shcoked gasps the audience would give at times like the s4 finale when Monica and Chandler slept together add so much to the show
The other reason why I like the office so much is that the jokes are extremely offensive but not done in an offensive way, and instead it rather brilliantly highlights ignorance.
i agree, south park puts me off and people always tell me “they make fun of everything, that’s the show”, whereas the office also makes fun of everything and i love it. i think the difference is, for example, a racist joke vs a joke about racism. one is expecting you to laugh at offensive things and the other is expecting you to laugh because the offensive thing is so ignorant and stupid. like when michael scott is blatantly racist towards people you laugh because he’s being an idiot, not because racism is funny.
@@crimson3362 if south park pisses you off then you're part pf the problem Whenever jokes are being said, there will always be some people who'll get offended by the joke....but that is no excuse for people to take out their anger. Comedy shouldn't be controlled just because some sections of society found a particular joke offensive..... There will always be jokes that are offensive to atleast one person. But people need to remember they are just jokes instead of being pissed off Po
David Schwimmer is the best. The way he slides from behind the door to under the bed while keeping a straight face as Bruce Willis enters the room is pure unadulterated comedy. His expressions while applying powder and lotion to help his leather pants get back up kills me everytime I watch it.
there's a reason why The Office has much more quality memes compared to FRIENDS. I mean what do they got besides the "Chandler laughing" meme slapped with boomer humors from Facebook?
Another factor besides when the shows were written is that the office is capitalizing on awkward comedy. You sometimes need those weird silences for the jokes to really land. A laugh track/live audience would move you out of those moments too quickly. Not sure why it took me rewatching Drew Gooden content years later to think of that 🤣
B99 is so heavily inspired by the office and yet feels like it’s own thing. It’s about the next best thing. And also what we do in the shadows. A very very underrated mockumentary show
I used to hate laugh tracks. I still do, but I used to, too. But I've come to the realization these shows were just trying to simulate the experience of going to a theater and watching a live performance. Be honest, you will be more primed to enjoy your experience when you are surrounded by people who are having a good time, especially when these are people that you are close with and enjoy the company of. On the other side, The Office and other shows that try to emulate its style are attempting to simulate the experience of being within an in-group and all of the humor that derives from having intimate relationships with these people. It actually makes you feel like you're a part of the group. Now, whichever experience you prefer is up to you. But these shows are trying to do two entirely different things and I think it might not be the best option to compare them without equivalent context.
I saw Batman Begins in the cinema. The audience laughed at every line out of Michael Caine's mouth. It was dreadful and I struggled to enjoy the movie as a result.
Honestly, I just stop hearing the laugh track when I watch shows. That 70s show, How I met your mother, Friends, etc. I like those shows even if they have that one annoying detail
Himym was a huge disappointment, it could've been the best comedy show if it werent for that last season.. And also I watched himym before friends and when I watched friends I discovered himym copied too many episodes from friends
I've always felt the Office was more relatable, more personal and intimate. I felt like the characters were my best friends. Maybe because of the camera stares.
As far as I can recall, Mr. Bean is the only show that I feel uses canned laughter properly (if it even is just a laugh track and not live reaction). Not only does it fit the bizarre actions that we see being portrayed onscreen, but the recorded reactions are varied and feel real. Sometimes the whole room erupts into laughter, sometimes it's only a few chuckles, and sometimes the audience is completely silent while one person lets out a lone guffaw. Sometimes you'll even hear a cough when nothing special is going on. It feels less like the show is forcing you to laugh along, and more like you're watching this freakshow with a group of friends.
there are literally so many awkward moments in friends, but even if there weren’t, how the fuck is that seemingly the deciding factor of which show is better? like the whole point of the office as a mockumentary is to build on those moments, so yes, it would be pretty shit if it didn’t.
i love the office because the thing that make me laugh the most is the contemplative silence after a joke. the way the office use that silence make the entire scene more realistic! the office is like the only show able to make me laugh
I think the most underrated thing about Friends, amidst all the hate people suddenly started feeling towards it, is the production value. The way it was shot, the way they color-grade those few first season, the way they dress them, the way make-up is beautiful for every character, set design. It is a really great creation in its own right. Also i dont like how suddenly people are blaming actors for being in that kind of format, and those videos without laugh track are just stupid, cause actors were aware of laugh track. Television comedy was not developed as it is now, so people thought why not do it like in theater..Go to theater sometimes and you will see same pauses, same interaction with people laughs.. I am still one of biggest fans of Office, so this is not even a comparisment for me. But i feel like people are over-hating Friends just so they can feel special and different than others cause at one point everybody loved Friends, probably those same people.
@@xoxoskywalker1976 No they weren't told to laugh. When a joke didnt fly, they would rewrite and reshoot a scene. While there are some reused laugh tracks here and there, but those are the exceptions to the rule.
@@babbisp1No. There are multiple takes for most scenes. The audiences aren’t idiots to keep laughing with the same intensity at the same joke 4 or 5 times. They knew when to laugh. It wasn’t fully authentic laughter.
@@lunamilo2065 It wasn't fully authentic, but it was more authentic than shows that use laugh tracks. And like I said, they often relied on the audience's response (or lack thereof) to figure out what worked and when they could change something. @@Kerbedis1 wow, that's really arrogant. emneato Sameee oml 😂 I started watching Friends liking Ross (don’t ask me why I have no idea) but then with every season I started to realize more and more how bad he was 😬
Livy Rose U hating Ross so much is actually just a compliment to David Schwimmer. He is no doubt the best actor on the show. His comedic timing and physical expressions are what separates him from the rest of the cast. He just plays a misunderstood character so people overlook his ability as an actor. Ross has been he most complicated personality on the show and is therefore the hardest character to play. Props to Schwimmer for perfecting Ross.
I'm watching friends for the first time all the way through with a couple family members. When it was on tv when i was younger, I hated it. I hate it now too, but maybe not as much. but yes, Ross is the worst, rachel is the second worst and they definitely deserve each other.

I feel like Friends was more of a group of people trying to catch you up on stories that happened while the Office made you feel more like an employee who was around while crazy things were happening, the laugh tracks being someone saying 'that was so funny' and the looks at camera feeling like a friend letting you know they saw it too
Laugh tracks are a remnant of the theatre age, from which television was born. They don't think you're stupid, they just thought you would like to feel like you were sitting in an audience. It's a generational thing.
He has every right to think it's stupid. It's a generational thing, and this generation may not like it. Just like how older generations pick on the young, younger generations have the right to pick on the old.
As a huge fan of both these shows, i'd say Friends was about everything you wanted life to be as a 20 yo, and the Office was about everything you didn't want life to be as a 20 yo. The first warrants laugh tracks because of that utopian setting, the second doesn't because of that dystopian setting (eventhough it's funny as f*ck). It's comparing apples to oranges is all i'm trying to say.
@@samvrantsinghthapa1806hmmm if only there was something called an opinion? For me friends is a hard 10, no two ways about it, but even though it's fun to discuss and analyze why, it's not a science no matter how hard some people want it to be.
Friends is one of those shows I sort of have a soft spot for, and I really wish it didn't have a laugh track. It's one of the best shows that has one in my opinion.
There's a video of Friends with No Laugh Track yet the first joke between Chandler and Joey at a buffet actually got me to laugh. while The Big Bang Theory was just awkward without it
It is hard to get used to the laughtracks, but when you do you mostly just ignore it. I'd argue that Friends, Seinfeld, Cheers, and plenty of British shows are fine despite having laughtracks. It is interesting to consider what the shows would be like if they were written/performed without the tracks tho.
I grew up on shows with laugh tracks so they don't really bother me, though I see why it would bother other people. That, I think Friends, The Golden Girls, Will & Grace, and The Nanny are all amazing with or without laugh tracks.
I watch a lot of youtube videos, an incredible amount. I've become very critical of the videos I watch. This is by far one of the best videos I've ever watched. everything about it is amazing. Commentary was emotional and entertaining, analysis was very well done, and you kept your comedic tone. A+ video Drew. Would love to see more like this.
Thot Hater No, you’re annoying. Nick Woods gave a heartfelt analysis of a more sophisticated new style drew is trying out, he gave helpful constructive criticism, meanwhile here you are adding absolutely nothing to anything worthwhile.
I love both of these shows but I have so much respect for the cast of The Office, especially Steve Carell, as an actor. When you deliver a line as a comedian or comedic actor, if there is no laughter that follows it feels like a failure. For Carell to give such a talented performance every time with a fantastic character and no validation from a live audience is amazing. p.s. I also agree that David Schwimmer is hella talented as well
I genuinely find friends funny and more importantly, enjoyable. However, The Office is still my favourite show. I just don't think the shows are comparable.
Same,to me the office is crongeowrthy and not funny at all. Those pauses, looks at the camera etc are not funny in any way, they male me cringe to the point that i dont want to watch it anymore
You haven’t watched an entire episode? Go into it pure heartedly without the thought that you hate it already and have yourself the best laughs of your life
@lalalalala198 i usually despise american "in your face" comedy, i love dark humour, wit, word play etc. I couldnt care less about comedians like kevin hart and those Americans, i exclusively watch people like Jimmy carr, who relies more on wit and dry humour. The office just isnt funny though, to me. But to say friends isnt funny is a travesty. It may have a laugh track, but it merges with the laugh track exquisitely. I dont like the idea that having a laugh track instantly makes you worse. Its not hard to make jokes, sometimes its easier to not have any laugh tracks, just the awkward silence.
I’ve never been a huge fan of the office and friends is one of my favorite shows behind Seinfeld and Married With Children but I understand why people love the office. I’ve watched a few episodes and thought it was funny but I didn’t really have much fun watching it unlike I do with Friends.

The Office is a comedic work of genius. I don’t think we will ever get a show that’ll make me laugh harder than this show… and at the same time have two of the most emotional scenes in any show I’ve ever watched (Goodbye, Michael and the Finale)
@ so many have tried to match it. Parks and Recreation, Superstore, Space Force, The IT Crowd… but they all fall short imo The only ones worth watching that are *kinda* like the office: Community, The Good Place and Arrested Development. But even these ain’t scratch the same itch
Hey, just here to provide an interesting perspective: English is not my first language, and I learned it by watching these sitcoms. I found that friends is really popular among non-native speakers, but the office is not that popular. I really enjoyed it though. I guess laugh tracks sometimes help non-native speakers get the jokes easier? I remember the first time I watched the office, I always turned on captions and replayed a lot, because sometimes Michael would use a made-up word, a small role mumbled a line in a chaotic situation (I felt like a lot of them are improvised), or their paces are just really fast for me to catch up. Also, the writings are so good, but many of them only happened in the English context. Like the "whomever" debate. It's difficult to translate. But once you get it, the office is really funny.
this is such a cool perspective! also it’s hard to know in a show like the office what exactly counts as a joke, because some of them are a little esoteric or take a couple times watching each episode to understand (or at least they did to me). at least in friends, even if a joke isn’t funny to me personally or other viewers, i can understand that it’s SUPPOSED to be a joke which potentially makes the language a little easier to understand. it’s more straightforward because it’s simple - a good way to learn the dynamics of the english language. thank you for sharing this!!! this was really cool to think about!
Exactly! I learned English with Friends, first seeing all the episodes with my native language subtitles on, then with the english ones, and finally without subtitles. The accents and formulations are very easy to catch. The Office is one of my favorite all times show, but without Friends I couldn't have enjoyed it that much :)
this makes so much sense. I'm not a big fan of friends but my mom (a nonnative english speaker) is. The office is my favorite American show and my mom can't get the jokes at all.
True! English is a second language where I live and I find friends on a lot of channels on our tv. My friends didn't even know the office exists until I told them that I was watching it and they all LOVE friends but I don't. Even my mom likes friends lol. I am good at english so I didn't have a problem understanding the office (It's my favourite show). My friends keep telling me to watch friends but I can't cuz the laughing track makes me want to jump off a cliff lmao.(one of my friends got really offended when I told her that I hate friends and love the office)
Damn, this is so good! Content, info, presentation. I feel weirdly happy that you’ve tried something different, definitely awesome to see you expand you’re creativity. You’ve just done so well!

i totally understand why people dont like friends but the nostalgia and the characters just make the show for me. i will always like that show, even though i’ve kind of grown to hate laugh tracks as well.
TBH, this is why I liked the Big Bang Theory. It was the show I grew up sneaking glimpses of and then bingeing once my parents said I was old enough to watch it. As I’ve grown up, I’ve fallen out of love for it just because it absolutely became exponentially weaker, but those old episodes still have a place in my heart.
The scene in Friends where Ross invites his girlfriend and Joey and Rachel over for dinner and gets increasingly drunk and anxious is a perfect example of David Schwimmer's physical acting and facial expressions
probably courtney cox, i've heard people say that a few times. compared to the other 5 characters monica's fairly dull and that probably was due to how cox interpreted her (love monica though, no hate here)
I'm between courtney and matt. I actually think courtney was good early and became horrible, but it was mostly because they turned monica into a cliche screaming machine. Matt really cant pull off dramatic scenes
The laugh track was originally created to ease with the transition between stage and tv, because the audience no longer is surrounded by people who laugh at jokes live. The office is about a decade more modern than friends
Fijigoya 123 he already mentioned that at one point. He said friends can’t help their outdated format because the show is kind of outdated. Watch the video before you comment stupid shit
This is a really good comment. Historical context is very important when doing a comparison of something from different periods. It's amazing how much can change in just a couple of decades.

It's not a laugh track it's a live audience smh

i agree, south park puts me off and people always tell me “they make fun of everything, that’s the show”, whereas the office also makes fun of everything and i love it. i think the difference is, for example, a racist joke vs a joke about racism. one is expecting you to laugh at offensive things and the other is expecting you to laugh because the offensive thing is so ignorant and stupid. like when michael scott is blatantly racist towards people you laugh because he’s being an idiot, not because racism is funny.

Huh, never thought about the fact that it’s simulated theatre in that way before. Good observation

As far as I can recall, Mr. Bean is the only show that I feel uses canned laughter properly (if it even is just a laugh track and not live reaction). Not only does it fit the bizarre actions that we see being portrayed onscreen, but the recorded reactions are varied and feel real.

It wasn't fully authentic, but it was more authentic than shows that use laugh tracks. Why do people hate Ross? He’s funny with unagi and when he finds out about rachel and Joey and pivot! I mean cmon
Ross actually used to be my favorite character. He’s supposed to be whiny because that’s part of who he is.
I'm watching friends for the first time all the way through with a couple family members. When it was on tv when i was younger, I hated it. I hate it now too, but maybe not as much. but yes, Ross is the worst, rachel is the second worst and they definitely deserve each other.
They literally showed us the CPR training scene in my health class last week because the teacher thought it might add something to the conversation, and get people to actually pay attention
The office is soooo good. Like Everyone’s acting is so fucking brilliant.
Steve Carell as Michael Scott is the best Acting out there.
apparently the scene where michael kisses oscar to show he’s not homophobic wasn’t scripted... HE DID THAT BC HE THOUGHT IT WOJLD BE FUNNY HE IS G O L D
Internet Father yup
@@tanveep5478 GOLD
why doesn’t this have more likes
yeah but his character was worst
In my opinion office is for ppl who lean to like sarcastic comedy and friends is for ppl who lean to like old kind of comedy with the pauses and sketches... It doesn't mean that any is bad, it's as usual depends on taste
friends is a living single ripoff and it’s like the one thing I know I’m being terrible for judging people who like it, yet here I am.
@@kaymills696 Dude, people can like different things. Also, I have to mention, if you know you're being terrible by saying this.
*Then why even say it?*
Lana Mcdwell I love sarcastic humour but i think i prefer friends probably because i grew up watching it but I dunno i never thought the office was that funny like i cant sit through an entire episode and i dont know why
christine fitz It’s probably because the worst seasons of the office are the first and the seasons after michael leaves. the office is at its peak in season 2,3,4, and 5.
Friends is famous for Chandler’s sarcastic jokes & behaviour
I feel like Friends was more of a group of people trying to catch you up on stories that happened while the Office made you feel more like an employee who was around while crazy things were happening, the laugh tracks being someone saying 'that was so funny' and the looks at camera feeling like a friend letting you know they saw it too
I see Friends more like a theater play with a real set and filmed, but I totally understand why it may be hard to enjoy for some people,
Laugh tracks are a remnant of the theatre age, from which television was born. They don't think you're stupid, they just thought you would like to feel like you were sitting in an audience. It's a generational thing.
Nope ,they are just finding way to roast other show.
This is correct.
He has every right to think it's stupid. It's a generational thing, and this generation may not like it. Just like how older generations pick on the young, younger generations have the right to pick on the old.
@@anastasiao4036 🤦♀️this comment is saying that just because shows include laugh tracks, it doesn't mean they think the viewer is stupid
And i do like them. And i like the big bang theory
Completely agree, I just posted the same thing about comparing apples and oranges
the office is like a 10 and friends is like a hard 7.5.. and im tired of pretending its not.
@@samvrantsinghthapa1806hmmm if only there was something called an opinion? For me friends is a hard 10, no two ways about it, but even though it's fun to discuss and analyze why, it's not a science no matter how hard some people want it to be.
And the original office is what office life is really like
@@imnotmattdamon Well gosh darn your opinion do be wrong
Friends is one of those shows I sort of have a soft spot for, and I really wish it didn't have a laugh track. It's one of the best shows that has one in my opinion.
There's a video of Friends with No Laugh Track yet the first joke between Chandler and Joey at a buffet actually got me to laugh. while The Big Bang Theory was just awkward without it
When you take it away, Chandler's delivery seems way more deadpan and I end up enjoying the show (as well as the character) way more.
That, I think Friends, The Golden Girls, Will & Grace, and The Nanny are all amazing with or without laugh tracks.
and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
this video was basically "well look how cool the office is" and i agree
The difference is that when Jim looks at the camera, I laugh.
With laugh tracks, I cringe.
Ice got used to laugh tracks
I despise laught tracks
It’s ironic because Jim looking into the camera is pure fucking cringe and gets old super fast.
Nick Woods you're annoying
I agree, but it feels a little stretched and long
Thot Hater No, you’re annoying. Nick Woods gave a heartfelt analysis of a more sophisticated new style drew is trying out, he gave helpful constructive criticism, meanwhile here you are adding absolutely nothing to anything worthwhile.
Blob Boi not at all. It was awesome.
Agreed
I love both of these shows but I have so much respect for the cast of The Office, especially Steve Carell, as an actor. When you deliver a line as a comedian or comedic actor, if there is no laughter that follows it feels like a failure. For Carell to give such a talented performance every time with a fantastic character and no validation from a live audience is amazing. p.s. I also agree that David Schwimmer is hella talented as well
Rachel Maureen the crew and other people on set cant help themselves sometimes!
you're a smart cookie
I genuinely find friends funny and more importantly, enjoyable.
However, The Office is still my favourite show.
I just don't think the shows are comparable.
Same,to me the office is crongeowrthy and not funny at all. Those pauses, looks at the camera etc are not funny in any way, they male me cringe to the point that i dont want to watch it anymore
You haven’t watched an entire episode? Go into it pure heartedly without the thought that you hate it already and have yourself the best laughs of your life
@@niranjanrajesh1058it’s dry humour… some people find it funny some don’t lol u clearly don’t
The Office wins for me. The jokes we're subtle yet fit each character individually

Stubbo242 yeah it’s way less forced
The office was a masterpiece when Michael Scott was still on. The rest of the last seasons were funny too, but not as much imo.
David schwimmer is a good actor. It’s just a shame that Ross can be really annoying or creepy. And I agree that he has some good comedic skills. That’s why people like PIVOT so much.
he was talking abt courtney lol
@@itziar9475 I wasn’t talking about the actor he thought was the worst actor. I agreed with him that David Schwimmer is a good actor. And has some good comedic skills. I don’t have an opinion on Courtney Cox’s acting abilities.

Rise Of The Kumquat not just a video essay, but specific Nerdwriter vibes. If it’s a genuine presentation shift or even just a thoughtful parody, it’s still well-done.
The Office is a comedic work of genius. I don’t think we will ever get a show that’ll make me laugh harder than this show… and at the same time have two of the most emotional scenes in any show I’ve ever watched (Goodbye, Michael and the Finale)
What other Shows are there that are just like the Office
@ so many have tried to match it. Parks and Recreation, Superstore, Space Force, The IT Crowd… but they all fall short imo
The only ones worth watching that are *kinda* like the office: Community, The Good Place and Arrested Development.

Check this out, laugh tracks in friends were in most cases recorded live in front of studio audience ua-cam.com/video/2L3gFYWU3hs/v-deo.html
Same here. I just like it better in general because I’ve tried to watch the office but I couldn’t watch in

The scene in Friends where Ross invites his girlfriend and Joey and Rachel over for dinner and gets increasingly drunk and anxious is a perfect example of David Schwimmer's physical acting and facial expressions
My mom loves that scene and for good reason.

He was best actor in the show
@@rohitinkar1126 no doubt about it
People can criticize Ross all they want but David Schwimmer was the best out of them.
drew is just starting a war by not saying who the bad actor is.
probably courtney cox, i've heard people say that a few times. compared to the other 5 characters monica's fairly dull and that probably was due to how cox interpreted her (love monica though, no hate here)
I was guessing Matt Le Blanc (though I myself think he rolls just fine)
It's Courtney Cox. It's in the description
That's true, but then at the time in 2005 there were other shows that still had canned laugher. The office just changed it up
This is a really good comment. Historical context is very important when doing a comparison of something from different periods. It's amazing how much can change in just a couple of decades.
Curious if you also listen to 99% Invisible podcast? They did an episode of the laugh track (Episode 305 - The Laff Box).
@@Pommie I agree but its also important that it's 2019 and people still try so hard to convince us that Friends is the funniest show on earth etc. Like, it might have been in the 90's but it's time to let it go (but I watch some random episodes sometimes)
Erika G because I love Lucy is amazing. Lucille ball was just an amazing person in general and as Lucy she was even more funny. You cannot watch I Love Lucy without laughing at least twice or more.

In High School, my Science teacher showed the Fire clip from The Office to explain why going over fire safety when working with fire is important.
It was unironically a great move by him because it got us all to shut up for a little bit, but gave us a point of reference, even though everyone knew it was exaggerated.
