      "Son, it's time I told you about the birds and the bees. But what IS a bee? or a bird, for that matter? And what do they have to do with sexual reproduction? I mean, any child knows that neither of these species of animals ACTUALLY has sex in order to produce offspring. On both instances, the female of the species lays an egg which is then later fertilized by a male of the species, in fact most of the time physical contact between the two is not even necessary., so why are birds and bees so symbolically linked to the concept... of conception?"
      And then 25 minutes later he'll probably be talking about space and the formation of planets or something.

    • @TheSystemaSystem
      @TheSystemaSystem 10 років тому +3

      Endless is stretching it a bit far.
      What really scares me is the fact that one day, we might run out of new things to discover. What if we invent everything that can ever be invented, explore everything that can be explored, et cetera. What if, one day, there is nothing else to work against. That is what scares me.

    • @SuHAibLOL
      @SuHAibLOL 10 років тому +2

      Eoes Reaper That will never happen. Perfection just can't be reached. As we discover more, we ask more questions. This world is vast and things are being discovered every year. I think the world will end with many of our questions unanswered. Then again, I'll never know if that prediction was true or not unless there really is an afterlife of some sort. And even so, we might not get our answers. That's what it means to be mortal.

    • @TheSystemaSystem
      @TheSystemaSystem 10 років тому +1

      TrollKing KUBOsaki Again, the world is not the limit. Given that our scientific progress is (currently) exponensial, we will at some point come to a stagnation, given that our race survives that long of course (which is unlikely, of course)
      What we know today would baffle even the brightest minds of the past. Galileo, Aristotle, Platon and Archimedes probably couldn't fathom the fact that I can speak with you, with instant notifications and instand answers. We can hold a conversation just like I can with my classmates, teachers et cetera.
      Since we will have to agree to disagree about my previous statement, how do you react to this one: Can there be progress without suffering?

    Why are there so much Christian responses flooding the comment section? If you want an intelligent, rational, logical explanation of phenomenon around you, these videos are a great provider of that. Any religious ideas don't share the traits of intelligent, rational, logical and mentioning anything that was religious would weaken his explanation. But hey if Christian ideas were mentioned, why not Muslim, Jewish, Hindu ideas to be mentioned also, it is only fair right. No, a much better Idea, to keep it fair we shouldn't mention any religious ideas and we can focus on only the useful information, that is any information not given in church.

    • @georgehanna8768
      @georgehanna8768 9 років тому +7

      I am not not mistaken, you just writing what comes to mind. Sadly this casual response demands a more intellectual response to what I have posted. I am not sure I want to waste my energy and time responding to what you have wrote. What I can say is that you have a lack knowledge about the scientific method and a surplus of optimism toward religious ideas. Until then you can balance them, it seems that your ability respond in an intellectual way is limited by your relative ignorance.

      There is an entire field dedicated to just that; Biology and astrobiology and are increasingly important to NASA as humans attempt to understand the effects of long-duration space flight, while contemplating the study of the origin, evolution, radiation, low/high gravity, etc, etc...basically different environments on humans in space. Apart from ground-based research, NASA has conducted hundreds of biological science investigations in space - using the Shuttle, the International Space Station (ISS), and small satellites. The shapes configured by gravity (depending if it's carbon based) goes from one extreme to the other...height and muscle density being the most affected. Short squatty hulk, to long legged giraffe looking species, the green would come from the element Chromium...

      Extra gravity is a lot easier to get.
      Imagine a train racing around inside the rim of an old copper strip mine.
      It would be a great place to train soldiers.
      Start out at 1G each morning and gradually increase the g load and g load duration as the day matures
      Each days peak would increase until at the end of 6 months, you graduate soldiers capable of operating in a t g environment, but only required to operate in one.
      Not bullet proof,... but an advantage perhaps.

      A typical alien isn't something we can be sure about, and I'm not sure how many people would volunteer to have children that might look like abominations that may be too weak to ever come back to Earth.

      if aliens do exist, and in the form we imagine them to be I think its years of evolution that would cause them to look like that and to adapt in space environments. even if aliens were humans, their human ancestors lived long before we got here. I believe the human race on earth is older than we think it is. look at the pyramids. we were so advanced probably millions of years ago that we went to colonize space beyond the solar system. I think after some sort of rapture and natural disasters humans here are the ones who were left behind. probably the ones that were poor and not so smart. while a certain percentage of our human ancestors were living in jungles and caves others were intelligently experimenting in labs. but this was millions of years ago probably even during or after the dinosaurs

    Vsaucy questions:
    -How humans would look like in a 1,000,000 years?
    -Will time itself ever going to end?

    • @daviddavis3939
      @daviddavis3939 7 років тому +6

      No one really know what people will look like in 1 million years, if selection pressures remain the same and we aren't forced under ground or to leave the planet due to some unforeseen event, most likely a more androgynous and racially ambiguous species of humanoids, possibly a bit taller and better proportioned if we find some perfect diet that meets all of our biological requirements with no excess. We would probably have more olive skin with dark hair and eyes as those traits are dominant. As for whether or not time will end... probably not, time began and barring the suddenly ceased existence of our universe it will continue to infinity past the point where the universe is in a purely entropic state.

    • @kaina5467
      @kaina5467 7 років тому +2

      You just explained very interesting things, it means the questions are perfectly fine for a Vsauce video! I'm sure Michael would link them to some interesting facts and different suppositions about how humans would look like in a million years (if we are still around).
      And about the "Time" topic; I don't know... but everything that starts at some point has to end, right? it applies to everything (I think). But well... I'm very ignorant, but I love how Michael explains stuff
