I transcribed this from the record years ago. Lot of difficult stretches to get the bass line. Segovia gave us so many great transcriptions. It's from the Ablelazer Suite.
this is from a group of live recordings entitled Segovia On Stage He was my first influence and I saw him twice, once in San Francisco and once in Phoenix. He does have great sound but I believe Julian Bream was too a great player with a great sound. there are many such players.
0:45 He's holding a full bar at 2nd fret with his 4 finger at the D# in the 6th fret!!! with no effort. This little piece it's a lot more difficult that it seems.
***** That's the difference, the ability to play effortless. He could choose not to hold the position like I do but those small details like portamentos, small slides and the like are the ones that you don't consciously hear but overall at the end you say he's a better player. I'm not saying that Segovia is the best player ever, some people prefer Williams, Bream, Russel, Vidovic over Segovia. Maybe it also depends on the piece as well, when he plays Latin-american music it doesn't sound as well as in this piece. As you said you just follow the music and that's what Segovia had in mind, he changed treble and bass volumes independently and also the tempo sometimes by a few 1/10s of a second, he also changed the tuning (for historic reasons but check out in the second part the C# heavenly sound!! I'm sure Segovia knew that before hand). He's not playing the score like everyone else, he's adapted the music to maximize the sound on his guitar. One thing for sure is that I prefer Segovia and Maria Luisa Anido over Russel and Vidovic styles, but it's just a matter of preference, technically all of them are master players (specially Vidovic, check out her video playing La Catedral-Agustin Barrios).
Ariel Bernal yes, Ana's technical skills are awesome, her sound is very fluid and fine, but i preffer Segovia's sound perhaps because he was a little bit "dirty" and so it provided to him a unique sound. Ana is very warm while Segovia is warm and sometimes cold. Yes, the guitar sound is a very very very delicate and unstable. But what i meant was the difference between to appreciate the guitar player and the music he's producing. The mayority is captivated by the superficial part of it, the technical part, while the music sometimes is forgotten. I don't know some little things that block our way to the land of the musical forms :P
What you see here is the shadow of Segovia, Segovia couldn't play good after 1968 ,he was already 78 and he was finished. The Segovia until 1955 is something it is something the world will never see again.
Hay 4 guitarras en el mundo, Clasica: Don Andres Segovia, Flamenca: Paco de Lucia, Blues: Stivie Ray Vaughan, y Rock esta dificil pero por su sentimiento me quedo con Brian May de Queen, he dicho

cica svaka cast
nice solo and music...good technique as well.
wow!!!
Yes, the world is full of educated fools...but talent can't be learned, only cultivated.
Blame the sound on the fact that it's taken from an old videotape. It had to keep the video in sync, not the sound...result is lots of wow & flutter.
I don't believe that are only 4 guitars.Blues and rock certainly have many beyond those that are in same level like Hendrix, Page, Clapton, Son House.
Please elaborate...
Bravo
try to follow al the notes, not just the melody
xD que buena eleccion!! Que mas que eso
Even through a poor recording you can hear the care he places on the tone and color of note.
