Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on UA-cam, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on UA-cam. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on UA-cam, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.

A concept is an idea. The album reflects the thread of an idea. It's about life, from birth to death and experiences in between.

This album is high art. Seriously, it rivals the great classical masters. Meticulously composed without much consideration for commercial success it ended up on the billboard top 100 for something over 20 years. I can't be objective about them 😊😊

Thanks for doing this reaction, I'm about to watch. Another superb Pink Floyd track is the studio version of "Dogs". It is a 17 minute track but will take you on a journey and you won't even notice how long the song it...Thanks again for doing all these Pink Floyd reactions. I'm really enjoying them. Just FYI there is a "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI - IX)" which is also very good.

I bought my Vinyl Album the day it was released, in 1973, aged 17.
I still have it, of course. A All Time Classic. Ideally, it’s best listened to, from beginning to end, all 42 minutes. Just as it was intended. I’m sure you’ll understand what it’s about after reading up on it and a few full listens, straight through.
And seeing everyone els’s great descriptions on here. I’ve never stopped listening to it, during those 50 years and I’ve a feeling you’ll be listening to it too, for a long time to come. We saw saw the whole Album performed live just last week, by the incredible, ‘The Australian Pink Floyd Show’. Highly endorsed by David Gilmour himself and the closest thing we still have, to seeing Pink Floyd Music performed Live.
Like many others have told you about their children and even grandchildren, my Son loves this Album too. This wonderful Album, lives on.
Happy Golden Anniversary, ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’.
    Absolute ‘Masterpiece’. 🎶💛🎶

Listen to the next three albums from beginning to end, jus like you are doing with Dark Side. Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall. While some fans will disagree, you might as well do Final Cut also.

You mentioned the Pulse Concert, at that 1994 concert Pink Floyd show they did the WHOLE "Dark Side Of The Moon" album, from beginning to end!
    It's a phenomenal performance..

Dark Side of the Moon is kind of a look at life from birth to death. Breathe is kind of like taking your first breath.
And although its birth to death it's not really in any perfect order. This album is more of a commentary on life and everything that can happen from birth to death and everything in between! And great gig in the sky wasn't purposefully looking at the five stages of grief but it just worked out that way. You have denial then anger bargaining, depression then finally acceptance and if you listen to it with that in mind you can hear the difference in emotions throughout the song!

I've heard that Great Gig in the sky represents someone's reaction to realising that they are dying. There are stages, as you say.

      @@heliotropezzz333 - That's how I always interpreted it!
Now, at age 70, I think of a person in the actual process of dying......maybe with "assistance" of one, and maybe two, types,
It's interesting and strange to me how my interpretations of the song, and the whole album, have changed so much over time, and yet the words are always relevant, no matter the stage of my life!

The heartbeat at the beginning and basically through the album was there to allow you to just loop the album again and again for the next 50 years, or so I’m told.😂

The best thing to do with a concept album is to look up the track list from the original album and listen to them one side at a time. This was side one, so perfect.
When you do The Wall, it is a two album set, so four sides/reactions. .

A unique recording! Apart from Rick, David, Roger and Nick, of course, Alan Parsons must always be remembered. Without him, this iconic album would certainly look very different - and God knows why it might not have been so successful. As chief musical engineer, he created and recorded many of the sound effects, he found the backing vocalist (Clare Torry) who recorded The Great Gig in the Sky, and he pushed the quadraphonic sound experiment of the time. He deserves at least as much credit as the musicians.
Here's a short but great interview with Alan about recording TDSOTM: ua-cam.com/video/6PJOgD-btOU/v-deo.html.

The theory if you view this as a concept album is that everything in the way we live today contributes to us going insane. (i.e the world is insane. First you are born and you are taught to keep at it never give up.(he mentions when the hole is done time to dig another one. From there is an airport and the crazy schedules people have to keep to get these planes mixed with a fear of flying, This follows with peoples worries about dying. the second side discusses money violence war and finally insanity.. The Dark Side of the Moon is insanity.

  • @jimangela4589

The band has made no secret that the theme of the album is the stress and pressures on life; their lives in particular. The birth and death motif are fairly prominent on side 1. "On The Run" addresses the fear of flying. Something the band did more and more as their fame grew. The album does begin and end with a heart beat. But taking it to the next level and this is something Waters includes throughout their 70s albums, and that is the idea of overcoming the stress, pressures and hurdles in life. This is more prominent on side 2 of the album. But, take "On The Run" for example. Given the fear of flying the band finds themselves running through the airport to catch their flight. All the while gripped with the possibility that their plane would go down. So, in the next album when David sings about the walk-on part in the war versus a lead role in a cage, you are supposed to take a part in the (metaphorical) war if the lyrics to "Time" have any meaning for you.

the floyd songs all pretty much will hold up on their own, but, their albums are concept albums, they pretty much invented concept albums, as the songs hold their own, they are 10 times better in propper context, their albums are meant to be listened to as a whole piece, not a collection of songs

You shouldn't have to worry about darkening the image when you do live stuff from the Pulse concert. I've seen many many people react to it and rarely do people get dinged or it. Just do it, you should be fine.
"The Dark Side of the Moon" was the next album released after Meddle. The entire album was performed uninterrupted during the 1994 live shows. In Chicago where I saw them they performed most of the album but sprinkled the songs throughout the concert.

Definitely do The Wall the same way.
But if you can squeeze the rest of the album "Wish You Were Here"
You've already done the opening SOYCD 1-5, then there are 3 more tracks (Welcome to the Machine, Have a Cigar & Wish You Were Here before the final 6-9 of Shine on you crazy diamond
When you get how the loss of Syd Barrett effected the band it will help you to make sense of The Wall
The life story of fictional Rock Star Mr Pink Floyd and all the events that became bricks in his mental wall of isolation that leads to madness.
WARNING during his decent into madness Pink takes on the persona of a FACSCIST with some offensive language used by those who stir up racial hatred.

if you're interested in concept albums you might enjoy listening to roger waters' 4 solo albums. his first, called "the pros and cons of hitchhiking", is about a man in bed dreaming all sorts of scenarios in which his subconscious mind is weighing out the pros and cons of spending your life with one partner/wife against "the call of the wild". the second is "radio KAOS" about a fictional radio station and a mentally challenged man named billy who has the ability to tap into the world's satellite technology, ultimately setting off a mock nuclear attack. the third (and probably his best solo work) is "amused to death" where a monkey is watching tv and seeing the absurdity of humanity's obsession with war. his only album this century has been "is this the life we really want?" which pulls no punches about politics and especially power hungry egotists like donald trump. all great listening and thought provoking albums.
