Thanks for this. I just got SynthEyes and need to learn as much as possible as I wait for my new desktop. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Wow! I stumbled upon this channel, and I am absolutely blown away by the incredible content! 👏🎉 🚀 Keep up the amazing work, and thank you for sharing your talent with the world! 🙌💯
Franck Birolini Glad it helped! I need to start making more Tuts. Hard for me to Find the time these days. ha I posted a camera solve tutorial. Now i plan on object solving next. -Kal
I've been following your tutorials, I have a quick question, as a beginner: I can't seem to understand when one would use 2d tracking like you do here, and when you would do 3d tracking like you did in the next video in line, where you track your living room? What is the utility of each method? You show wonderfully how to do each, but I don't understand the difference in practical application
Great tutorial, thank you for the valuable content! I have a few questions. 1. On a hi-end shot would you always start with manual tracking like in this tutorial or start with auto tracking? 2. How many trackers do I need to accurately solve 3D camera in Syntheye?
great tut on supervised tracking very clear. I did a test after this video and got a .35 solve. What is the standard minimum tracker count in the industry? I like to reverse engineer stuff. I do motion tracking to reverse engineer my camera motion. I bought Syntheyes for this very reason.
Steve Stanfield The standards will vary on the complexity of the shot. And a lot of studios settle for less than our expectations. On a shot like in this tutorial it might be around a hundred trackers. Mainly because it's an extremely easy and ideal shot to work on. More points means better overall point solves (3D positions) and a better calculated distortion. If there's plenty of detail and you have time, best make it as close to perfect as possible. :) Some shots are so tough we can only track 2 points and do the rest of the move by hand. so basically the ideal numbers will shift around. This is a topic i should talk about in a video soon.
Funny you say that. There's an updated 2D tracker tutorial on the channel that I uploaded a week or two ago. Much more clear on the hotkeys. But a list would be a good idea actually. I may do that if I get time!
how can i make my tracking 3d without using solve? i added all the trackers manually as there were too many reflective wall, and when i press solve, it added some trackers and eventually camera movement was totally wrong
If it added trackers it sounds like you hit the big auto button under the summary tab. You can press SHIFT G or hit the big green GO button under the Solver tab. You can watch my basic camera solve tutorial to help you out with a solve if you needed it. Hope that helped!
i didnt hit auto button, i pressed Go button under the solver and i also tried Shift+G and it keeps adding some (5,6?)additional tracker and eveltually ended up with wrong tracking😂
@@cleanmyhead8406 Hmm. Sounds like a bug D: If you join my discord which is linked on my newer streams you could show me with screen share. Otherwise not much I can do without seeing it.
Question about auto-trackinhg in SynthEyes. I created a mask and when I try to run the auto-tracks, all the trackers end up inside the mask and not outside the mask. In PFtrack once a mask is being created, the auto tracker will not track what's inside, but in SynthEyes it puts trackers in the features inside the mask. What am I missing here? Also, I would appreciate if you visit my other channel: ua-cam.com/users/VFXTutoredfeatured - Maybe we can collaborate....
Sorry late response. :( I'm much more active on Discord. Mathew Merkovich has a great series on Autotracking in Syntheyes. I'm not a huge believer of autotracks in most cases so I'm not super great with them. Sorry I can't do much. But Mathew's tutorials on Autos are great!
This is the single best tracking channel on all the interwebs. Not only for the info, but for the humor. Thank you so much!
That was great, thank you. I found it much easier to follow than Syntheyes' own tutorial!
Good to see someone giving syntheyes some love. Awesome stuff
Very useful! thx man!

Amazing work Kalvin! Nice voice
Thank you kind stranger!
Hey loved your tutorial! You deserve more subs tbh. I hope you upload more content.

Hi! Thanks!
What is the reason of tracking backwards if we tracked it forward already? I can`t understand that...
Thx for video ,but how many tracker we need to be have a good tracking for cg production? 15 at least ?
thanks nice tutorial and can you explain what is difference between auto track and manual track in SYNTHEYES

Great tutorials, keep em coming
Plan to! Happy they're watchable :D
thank you for your awesome work!!!
Hi, is there a new shortcup to lock caméra? When I press 5 it does center on the track but doesn't stick to it when I change frame...
Ah yeah. 5 on the NumPad does this. You should use the 5-key on the number bar.
@@trackvfx6760 Hi sorry for the late reply, thanks a lot for the answer it works! Thanks for this tutorial series!
Nothing wrong with giving some loving to the back :D hehe
No one at Track VFX knows what that means. We're too clean and innocent!
very good tutorial ! Kudos
soooo useful !!!
Great Tutorial!
can u please make a tutorial on how to tackle some high motion blur shots like some fight scene or chase scene atleast one tutorial please.
I got that on my list of Tuts coming up!
part 2 ?
super hepful thank u!
Great tute! It would be awesome if you put all the hotkeys you use in the description ;)

I don't like hotkeys because i have an actual problem with memory. So i orient myself with visual queues on the menus. It's a nightmare otherwise.
Thank you a lot!!! best tutorial so easy!
Great to here it's easy! ha I really tried and hoped it was as simple as possible. 2D Tracking isn't always easy starting out.
Thanks! Please do more!
More tutorials will be flooding in soon! Just had a very busy schedule come out of nowhere.
Nice tutorial.

More coming soon! A lot more. Just got very busy with work. I think two more videos coming on using trackers. Then onto Beginner solving.
I think this is outdated tutorial as of end of 2023.
Yeah they'll all going to be outdated soon as well ha. And this video is particularly old.
