    FANTASTIC! My finger has been hovering over the purchase button for 2 years... and with your detailed breakdown and coronavirus time on my hands, i just hit the button! Time to dig deeper. Thanks for giving such a thorough explanation of all these steps! One part I am hazy on is how to take lens distortion (the type that only distorts the cg additions, not the original plate) once you're in maya / nuke / blender / after effects whatever. So That's what I'm trying to clear up. I printed out a lens grid checker chart thats huge on a nice flat board. Shot it, and used syntheyes to get a lens distortion profile. Anyway Having actual data like that with a real lens distortion chart, it would be great to see a full walk through of, how do you take that, use it to account for the distortion in the solve, and bring it into the next program all the way to exporting the final shot. Would be nice to just skip all the tracking details and cg work, just making it about the entire workflow for lens distortion being dealt with properly. Just a wish, regardless thanks a million!

    Thanks for this, I am at 33:00. However I can seem to box select my trackers? They also don't seem to have a box round them anymore too, have I toggled something?

    • @trackvfx6760
      @trackvfx6760  4 роки тому

      1. Hmm. Maybe check that you're under the tracker tab and not something like the 3D tab.
      2. Check if you have turned on show only as dots. You can find that by right clicking in the "camera" view and looking in "view"
      3. Go up to the drop down menu at the top of Syntheyes and open "Track" and make sure you don't have lock z-drop on.
      Those are some ideas that have frozen things in the past for some people. I don't know if any of those are your issue. If you happen to use discord you could send me your SE file (no footage necessary) I'll put my discord in the video desciption if you wanna send me stuff. Also I'm gunna try be more responsive to people there. Easier for me.

    thanks for the tutorial!! i only have a question. How do i place the Axis in a scene where i do not have clear Axis lines? Like a landscape Scene where everything is curved and i do not have this clear references like walls and kitcehen table?

    SO I gotta say, what's so absolutely awesome about this tutorial is...
    That most tutorials are so perfectly laid out and organized, it's not even real. It's like going through a museum. They way you approached this was as if I was sitting in class learning from the experienced teacher, and that's EXACTLY what I needed so desperately. So yes, thank you for giving over YOURSELF in this tutorial and teaching u s what you know, and not a plastic, edited, whatever version of you. Perfect!

    Thanks for doing this. Are all of your tracks supervised tracks? I don't get the green box on auto track.

    • @trackvfx6760
      @trackvfx6760  4 роки тому

      Thank you! Yes my tracks are supervised tracks. It's rare that I ever use autos. But that's due to the types of shots I get at work. Usually autos are unusable and introduce micro jitter to all cameras. Also they can't do fast movements or shots with heavy rack focus or general Depth of field. Autos don't get the green box unless you select an auto track and unlock it. Then it becomes a supervised tracker and loses it's diamond form.

    Is there formal SynthEyes training available somewhere? How does one learn it?

    • @trackvfx6760
      @trackvfx6760  3 роки тому

      FXPHD, LinkedIn Leanring.....Not to sure for the most detailed courses are honestly. I learned n the job and by reading the Syntheyes manual.
      SyntheyeHQ's youtube channel is great. Is by the creator of syntheyes. But it not super well structured for a beginner I find. There's Mathew Merkovich who does great Syntheyes tutorials and is a very active member in the community. You could try from my 2d Tracking for beginners video. And this video that you just commented on. Or my live channel where I stream Syntheyes. Also Mathew Merkovich and myself both have two separate discord servers where you can join for free and me as well as many others will help you out with ANY question.

      @@trackvfx6760 Very thorough answer! I have been using syntheyes for years but never really understood the why behind the how. I'm not exactly a beginner, but I think there are many cases where I could learn better, faster, more accurate ways to achieve my goals. Please share your discord! Would love to join! Thank you.

      lol Had I not been teaching this it's the most easy shot in terms of calculation and perspective. Normally I'd do it in about 40-30 mins. And Not including the trackers maybe 10-15mins of just solving and building.
      But yeah 1 hr is a bit of a strech haha The newer Tuts are cut up :)
