I honestly love that the old man was questioning whether or not he's actually human or not. Then when he heals he says he feels alive and this means he still has his humanity.

I watched the anime, the main character has such a overflowing of love and humility, and invokes the name of God and thanks him, he was not consumed by ego and the idea he was a God. I don't think I had ever seen such a character with so much virtue.
This movie misses a very important key detail, in which afterwards, Hiro contemplates the events that led up to his downfall, despite being much stronger than Inuyashiki in every way. While that happens, a meteor is suddenly projected to collide head-on with the Earth. This revelation causes Inuyashiki's family to realize that they do in fact love him. Inuyashiki then makes the ultimate sacrifice, to give his life in order to stop the meteor. However, after trying everything, he is not strong enough to succeed. The anime is different in two aspects.
One: The robot bodies also took away their ability to feel alive. While they can feel emotions like happiness and sadness, they cannot feel alive. Unless, they do one of two things: save lives, or take away them. The old man got the save lives core, and the young man got the kill lives core. So the old man can only feel alive when he saves people, and hiro can only feel alive if he kills them. This is a part of what sends hiro into his murder spree, since he is enraged that he got the short end of the stick.
Two: The girl with hiro didn't die, and at the end of the anime, a meteor strikes earth. Also a funny interpretation of trump is included. Essentially, humanity is doomed. Unless... the two super robots do something. They find out that if they both sacrifice themselves, earth can live. Hiro says despite his aggression, he still wants to save at least two people, the girl and his friend. In the end, they both sacrifice themselves for their loved ones, and it's a bitter sweet ending.
I like the anime version more but given the time constraints of the movie, it's understandable that these changes were made and might be interesting to see.
The anime story and ending seems more unique and interesting but i understand why they cut them chosing instead other classic hero-antihero tropes. It would have been hard to convert "feeling alive by killing/healing" concept ..instead it's more empathetic for the watcher chosing to heal for compassion or chosing to kill for anger or revenge: they both were gifted with the same power and their choices saved or damned them. The movie ending is open for a sequel...and there is already the redemption of the anti-hero:he chosed to save the life of his friend going away sacrificing their bonding
yeah while the movie isnt faithful, it did a great job as an adaptation
The last episode in anime version was amazing
Trump was in it?
Funny how the authorities never bothered to notice the older fella.
Not all that funny.. there's been a culture shift in Japan that has been getting notice, where once they respected their elders.. now with everyone's life being so busy they practically have no time for family. There are whole communities of nothing but elders as their young have already moved away, so when the last elder dies.. you'll have a ghost village.
I can see elements of this movie also being a social commentary.
In the anime, the very earlier episode show a scene where young high school students beat up a homeless older man and got stop by the old guy in auto-pilot when he got knock unconscious trying to stop the bully.
The anime show many problems in modern Japan including the families structures like the old man's family.
It also have a big lesson that despite having the same bodies, the old man took much much longer to control because his will and his heart is so "old" and suggests age is just a numbers as long as you have the heart, the will and mental commitment into it, you can do anything.
Or, they simply don't want to interfere with the Guy, saving People.
You know, unlike the faked Mysterio-Reveal.
The manga ending was different, there was a huge world ending meteorite heading to earth. It took both of them self detonate to stop it, probably also why the aliens were there at the first place, to save humanity.

@@ravenseptimus3108 I don't think it was a redemption arc so much as it was trying to show that the whole thing about feeling nothing was bullshit, he was just an edgy teen who got extreme power and used it in the way you would expect a teen to do so. I mean he keeps saying shit about trying to "feel" something by killing people and yet he openly weeps on multiple occasions and becomes deeply depressed about his mom when he finds out. I think it's less redemption and more recognition (for the audience).
@@Goldenkitten1 facts
@@Goldenkitten1 I was mostly refering to the original material, wherein Hiro murders multiple families before being actually confronted by the police (not shown in this movie; recommended to watch because of the disturbing lack of empathy with which he finishes the family that actually made it into the movie) and then attempts to murder both Shion and her grandmother in their sleep (again not shown in this movie) and feels absolutely nothing during the whole time. He feels sad about his mother getting the cancer diagnostic because he remembered that he should feel something about his close ones, not that he actually does. And after the several tens of thousands of murders that he committed, they gave him a redemptive arc by having him sacrifice himself to save the world from a giant meteor (again, not shown in this movie) but that didn't happen her because setting up a sequel is more important i guess...
I'm noticing a trend here btw, lots of the iconic moments and psychological nuances didn't make it into the movie, like the part where Ichirou actually learns how to use his powers with the help of Andou who teaches him how to chance certain body parts to adapt and interface with technology and also convinces him to become a hero and save people, nor the part where Ichirou takes on the yakuza to save bada55 naked sword lady (which was 80% of the reason why i started watching the show :P ) and then learning about his limitations in combat, nor did the part where Hiro actually did try to reform at Shion's suggestion by healing people of various fatal illnesses and THEN the police raided Shion's home and nearly killed her prompting him to go into full rage mode and vow to annihilate the whole country.
See, alot of the meat 'n potatoes didn't make into the movie and they replaced meaningful arcs and subplots with p1sspoor japanese acting performances, making the whole thing look bland and hollow by comparison.
Does the anime have the same name as the movie?
I really feel bad for the old man. He has a pure heart but is being dissed by his own family
It gets better later on in the story
I'm tempted to pity him, but there's something to be said about you chosing the partner you end up with.
For all the noise about opposites attracting, you have to pick someone who shares your core values or you're in it all for the wrong reasons.
And it will end up similar to this film's portrayal. Either you're the husband in it, or the wife. Either way people are suffering.
I mean the family actually cared about him in the anime
Pay respect for the old man at the start
In the original series when they meet the old man says, "I can only feel human when I am saving lives, can you only feel human when you are taking them?"
That's how deep this show is.
69 lol
Reminds me of the garou and saitama fight.
@@fathercat5898 The antagonist is really good in the original series. At a point he undergoes a redemption arch, but then is forced to continue down the dark path he started on. I won't spoil the ending, but it really shows the kind of character he really was.
@elø to be honest it kinds of feels funny
@@Kevin7557 Bro what? The antagonist is not good in the original series and literally nothing he’s does will redeem the things he’s done.
He got powers and just started murdering people. And then when faced for punishment for his crimes, he could have accepted his punishment, but instead chose to kill more. He wasn’t forced to do anything evil or bad in the entire series. He chose all this
It would seem that, with Hiro taking off, they're setting up a sequel.
Well first of all big spoiler so dont read any further if you dont want to read this but this movie is actually from an anime version which had a pretty heroic ending for both of the characters.
In the end, they both sacrifice themselves to destroy a meteor that would cause an extinction level event.
The end is like to be conteneu
