BDK is talented and doesn't get mentioned enough among the all time greats. He was part of an era when rappers took pride in also being able to dance, and in 2005 in his late 30s, I guess to show that he still got it, he performed and did a split and bounce back up dance move that blew my mind! This is the best quality I could find: ua-cam.com/video/EHFw2h4nPX8/v-deo.html skip to 3: 10 to see when he comes on stage.
He did shout out Blahzay Blahzay which later had a song called "Danger" that you reacted to. And also the 7A3 which was a group that DJ Muggs was a part of before Cypress Hill.
'88 my favorite year in hip hop for a reason! You should check out Public Enemy's "Night Of The Living Baseheads" and you might wanna do an exception and watch the video because it adds a lot.
According to Cool V, the beat was originally done by the 45 King as a remix of P.E.'s Night Of The Living Baseheads that he wanted to hand over to Kool DJ Red Alert so he could use it as an exclusive radio mix on his show. V convinced him that this was too good to just give away and called up Biz and Kane instead.
Random: speaking of old school rappers, LL Cool J just released a new album, and released a single called "Murdergram Deux" featuring him and Eminem going back and forth, and there's a music video. Do with that info what you will, lol
Album Deltron3030 song (Upgrade) AceyAlone song (Faces) Nine song (Hit Em like Dis featuring Froggy Frog). Enjoy, and if you like those, there could possibly be more recommendations in the future??? Hahaha👍
This is a coincidence - my reaction to the song Deltron 3030 posts this Sunday. I've reacted to Inner City Boundaries but not Aceyalone solo; and I haven't heard of Nine. But all this songs are now added to my list so thanks for the suggestions.
One of the best rappers ever. Got a signed t-shirt when he played in London about 20 years ago. He had a fling with Madonna. Please review Aint No Half Steppin'; My Philosophy; anything by Eric B; maybe some Grime, like Kano.
Rest In Peace DJ Mister Cee!! 👊🏾 I always skipped this song back in the day. It's cool, but I found this one to be a little too annoying soundwise, but it has grown on me since 88. "Just Rhyming Wit Biz" or "RAW feat. Kool G. Rap" would make for great reactions...
I can't believe the lyricist of the rappers of the late 80's is million time's better than what is out there now. Isn't things supposed to evolve for the better? But now it sounds like...meh.
Changes trough time are definately needed and good, but they went wrong way at some point. 88 and 89 seems like peak of pure rhyming skills because of people like Kane or Kool Moe Dee. Then it evolved in 90's when people discovered balance between good rhyming and telling a story without need to spit 1000 rhymes per minute (with few exceptions like Big Pun ofc 😉) and it was good change as well, but both era's are awesome. Rap was that good, that it was more and more popular and at some point it just evolved into commercial music which needs to be enjoyed by majority and not rap fans only... And let's be real - majority isn't interested in deeper meaning or nice rhyme schemes, but simple beats and lyrics they can have party to 😛

That sounds like an awesome show. What music does he listen to generally?

Mainstream is lame. But the underground has plenty of dope lyricists.
I think that's true for a lot of music genres.

What I notice now is a few lazy rhymes to get to the hook. You got a catchy hook you gotta hit and the rhyming really isn't that important.
Hi unc
Hi, Leonardo!
