If they don't play She Sells Sanctuary at my funeral I'm not going
That is brilliant 🤣😂
I feel bad for anyone who wasn't a teen/young adult in the 80's. The music, style, and life was so much fun!
So true! It can’t be put into words.
Same!! I was in high school and college in the 80s, it was just as awesome as it looks! I consider myself very lucky to have grown up in the 70s & 80s.
Like everyone thinks their teen years are the best period. Just ain't true.
@@Whistler4u Spoken like a true person who didnt grow up in the 80's......
I grew up in SoCal in the 80s, in the 90s I was hired by a lot of 80s bands to sell merch. It was fun talking to the guys from my era. Best 2 summers of my life. ❤❤
"Fire Woman" is another killer tune.
anc then The Witch to make the trifecta.
The Cult - 'Sweet Soul Sister'(1989)
"Outlaw," in particular the one from the Manor Sessions, much better than what made in onto Electric. And of course "Love Removal Machine" off the same album.
The Cult are still around, still making new music, and still touring... and u don't have to pay big money to see them in concert 🤑But mind you, they are still in demand! The band is still the duo of Ian Astbury (vocals) and Billy Duffy (guitar)... the current band includes John Tempesta (drums), Charlie Jones (bass) and Mike Mangan (keyboards)... Bad Religion guitarist Mike Dimkich has toured w/ The Cult on 2nd guitar.
U gotta do The Cult - "Edie (Ciao baby)" 🔥🔥🔥🔥 also ... 'Lil devil' ... 'Rise' ... 'Wild flower' ... 'Love removal machine'... 🤘🤘
jesus christ what a rhythm section!
Lead vocals - Ian Astbury
Lead Guitar - Billy Duffy
1987 Billy Idol toured with The Cult as his opening act.
Born in 64 so 80's was crazy as was the 90's...best years of my life
The Cult is my Teens.
Biggest influence on me in all ways including my becoming a musician.
And one of the greatest days in my life in April of 1995 I got to work with the band and directly with Ian.
I got to hang out with my idol all day.... long story but it was amazing.
THe Cult is the shiz.
Class of 85 here!
I think the 80's would love you right back!!!!! it was a truely awesome time to be a teen, the music was so different. good reaction my lady, peace............. xoxox
I love this song,
Its the power cord that does it and I think is an acoustic guitar, just brilliant
The vocals, everything
When Goths were still Batcavers….“Love” is a really good album, worth a listen. “Rain” and “Big Neon Glitter” are a couple tracks from it to check, if you’re needing more Cult.
That whole album is great. 'Brother Wolf, Sister Moon' has become a deep cut favorite over the years. Long song with slow build-ups, but so good
Yeah the cult wasnt my thing back then. Now im old it brings back memories and i like it. Thank you.
I'm 55, so I know this tune well, and I still feel the same every time I hear it. It's so good that my friends and I have added it to our set list, and everyone dances every time we play it. You young 'uns don't know what you missed.
Check out Love Removal Machine, Lil' Devil, Peace Dog, Fire Woman, Sun King
My all time favorite band! I've seen them live at least 15 times. Playing with everyone from Lenny Kravitz, Living Colour, even Metallica.
Yeah, I saw them live in early 90s w/Lenny Kravitz opening for them. I didn't know Lenny yet and he killed it. Of course The Cult always killed it. Saw them another times in the mid-90s, still amazing. They've never stopped touring, I don't think? Ian & Billy are still out there killing it!
@@jenniferfoster1692 I saw them at The House of Blues last year in Orlando. When I saw them with Lenny, it was an outdoor show in Gainesville, FL!
Easily arguably one of the best starts of any song.
I saw them live in 89, one of the best shows I have ever seen.
The 80's was most definitely a fantastic era for music.Southern Death Cult are worth checking out, before changing their name to death cult and then ultimately to the Cult .
Would defo recommend reacting to 'Love Removal Machine' - another of their bangers!
Yes! Often described as AC/DC-ish.. love this, Love Removal Machine.. and also Wildflower.
Great fuggin band, I still love them today, they are still fresh.
Right place, right time !
I was in my 20’s in the 80’s this tune was M A S S I V E
Great band, originally known as the 'Southern Death Cult', then 'Death Cult' then finally 'The Cult'. A couple of other great tracks by them, "Spiritwalker", "Fire Woman" there are plenty of great tracks from this band. Another band from around the same time is, 'Killing Joke' tracks to check out, "Eighties", and "Love Like Blood", they have loads of great tracks but these are a good place to start.
That was a crazy POWER song back then. I am from 69, and found Depeche Mode in 83, but also had my ears other genres. You mentioned Billy Idol. Shit it was a nice time. New Order, Simple Minds, Duran Duran, Kraftwerk, Nitzer Ebb.... I could go on. Love your reaction to this "old" number. Still HOLDS... Regards from Denmark. Alex
I just saw the Cult about five or six years ago and they are still killing it
Remember this band and this song and many more from that time like yesterday. I was 24 at the time of this one. 😊
The CULT are still an active band. They do tour regularly so you can go see them and Ian's voice is still amazing. Every album has its own unique style, something they got criticized for over the years, but each one is great for different reasons.
Dance dance dance!!! A favorite from my college days. ❤❤❤
I was in my late teens, early 20s, when this song came out! Wee had the best music in the 80s! Glad you enjoyed the band! Great reaction video!
I love THE CULT, this is a great song, this WHOLE ALBUM IS EXCELLENT
Hi there. Thank you so much for doing this one. They are definitely in my top 10 favourite bands of all time. Absolutely awesome video from yourself. Please take care and blessings to you from the UK.
The Cult are so damn good. I'm glad to see the reaction channels get around to them. Love Removal Machine is another great song.
Always enjoy seeing the younger generation react and love this music just like I still do
Brings back memories of High School discos.
Great reaction to a great (but often overlooked) band. Try 'Fire Woman' or 'Rain' next please Millie!
I remember waiting at the record store for them to unbox and put on the shelves. Nothing sounded like this song when it came out. The drums especially.
I graduated in 85 and still think the 1980-90's had the best tunes overall
a lot of good times as a teen in the 80s, some really good music for sure
Love Fire Woman & Sweet Soul Sister.
Nice reaction Millie. Reckon you'd enjoy the entire 'LOVE' album. Wish I could take you back for afew days in the 80s. You'd have loved it.
Millie, I DJ'd back in the 80's and 90's and this song was SO popular for a Rock-based dance tune, like an Alt-Rock banger. I would always mix this song with Billy Idol or The Cure, perhaps even some early U2. Great band!! The Cult have a TON of great songs!
you're right there, we need a time machine so bad, the whole world does really.
Saw The Cult in Nashville; they opened for Metallica -- the Newstead years -- they are cool. The lead singer did a gig with the Doors, saw that live, Ian nailed it. ❤❤❤
"Fire Woman' by the Cult is also amazing. Same great vibe & talent but a little harder. They're a great band and still touring!
I was 15 back in 1987, when The Cult released their album called Electric, I bought it on cassette, and I went everywhere with it, listening to it on my Walkman, it’s one of the greatest rock albums ever, and it still sounds amazing, you need to react to every song on that album, you can thank me later 💙
I have been in love with Ian Astbury since the early 1980s. Billy Duffy is on guitar.
Their first three albums, ' Love ', 'Electric' and 'Sonic Temple' are different style but each so very, very Cult.
Yes, those are not the first albums they recorded together ( Moya, but that was under Southern Death Cult ).
Still as good as the day it was released. Given me goosebumps every time I have heard it for the past 40ish years. One of the best.
The drummer here ended up playing with a band called big country. Worth checking out their live stuff.
They were amazing live! many great tunes to dive into!
i have seen these guys twice in Detroit and both times this guy gave us a talking to about how we sucked. Our energy sucked. To Ian's credit it worked both times. BOOM !!!
I really like this band and I always have.
The is a good song too.
I'm a bassist, too, love playing this one. The Cult had a fantastic sound. If I had a time machine, I'd take you back and give you a tour... it was a wonderful decade and I sure do miss it.
inside of her you'll find sanctuary. Total rebels for their time.
I saw them with simple minds at ibrox park in 1986,and they were really good live...
80's 90's long live
Yes! The Cult! Don't forget 'Rain', another great song!
Balls wi billy idol pet the cult were seriously at it back then what a great performing band so exiting but then we had such a fantastic choice of perpatrators of full on rock we were spoiled ! Even at 70 I'm still in awe of some of the greatest of arl time ! You on the tutha hand have ya life 2 realise the point of rock music .
The 80's were a blast.
Millie, wonderful tunes to get started with Cult. I see you have already reacted to Fire Woman and She Sells Sanctuary. Pls check out these next: "Wildflower", "Love Removal Machine", "Rain", and "Resurrecton Joe". They used to be known as Southern Death Cult, then later to The Cult. The guitarist with the Billy Idol hair in this video is Billy Duffy. The vocalist is Ian Astbury.
I'm so mad that I'm just seeing this in my feed/ notifications, 3 DAYS LATER
One of the first songs the "Classic Rock" stations grabbed from the 80's but also still played by "modern Rock" stations today because it's so timeless.
I see you've done Fire Woman, not sure of the second you mentioned...unless counting this one, but if you want more to pick from, try one of these: Sweet Soul Sister __ Edie (Ciao Baby) __ Rain __ Love Removal Machine __ Wild Flower.
Fire Woman. 🔥
Resurrection Joe is an obscure song but great.
I have the same Ramstein hoodie!!!
They are a genre of their very own! Must hear songs by them are “Love Removal Machine”, “Fire Woman”, and “Edie (Caio Baby)” for starters.
Best time ever❤Cult forever forever Cult
Awwe and im just seeing this now Lassie, You are as well , Very Wonderful!😉
I'm 57 so I bought this album when it came out.......on tape. I was only 12 when I saw Motorhead on both the Overkill & Bomber tours. Then The Ace of Spades, Iron Fist & finally Another Perfect day. But The Cult were just as good, they have a vast array of great songs. Try tracks off Sonic Temple. Anyone who's around my age had superb bands that you could go & see for as little as £3.00. I'm from B'ham, UK. And the Odeon on New Street was the venue of choice. My best concert may suprise some, but it was Krokus, Hardware. We had it good & I feel so lucky. I also knew the Band Diamond Head personally although they were a fair bit older, but I used to drink in Stourbridge. And they inspired a rather famous band called.....Metallica as Lars Ulrich actually lived with one of the band members. Listen to Am I Evil, their most famous song. Good Stuff.
"Love Removal Machine" next.
Another great single from this album is RAIN. ❤
The Cult have a fantastic and rich catalog. See o underated and so few of their songs made radio play. Tragic,... They are fantastic live as well. Try giving Zap City, The Phoenix, The Witch, Lil' Devil, Star and Nitivanna a listen...
Their songs Love Removal Machine, and Peace Dog are real bangers.
Fan Girl on full display ! yes the 80s had the best music
All the songs on the albums "Love" and "Sonic Temple" are great.
The CULT are Awesome!!! Bill Duffy & Ian Forever ❤
Ian’s foot-dancing at the beginning is awesome. This was my senior year in high school. We thought this music would last forever. Instead, kids today like crap music.
First they were called 'Southern Death Cult', then 'Death Cult', both worth giving a listen.
Ian Astbury saved me 20 bucks when I gave him the wrong change when I was a delivery driver in Hollywood. I didn't tell him that I had a poster of the Cult on my bedroom wall when I was in high school. Hehe
A lot of people will join you in that time machine
‘Love’ great album.
Mi grupo favorito de adolescencia
legendary but underappreciated band, you did Fire Woman, also Love and Revolution from this album, Sun King, Wild flower, Edie (ciao baby), Wild flower, Lil Devil, Love removal machine, Wild hearted son, Heart of soul from other albums
really insane voice and great guitar
UA-cam is your time machine. Thats why we all love it.
UNDERRATED BAND. There's actually a longer version of this song with some cool vocalizing by the very charismatic Ian Astbury at the beginning. The album this came from also contained other great songs like rain and brother Wolf, sister Moon. Their album Sonic Temple is similarly full of bangers. You must do more cult
King Contrary Man. After this one there is no looking back. Trust me!
Lil' Devil always fires 📛 me up.
I love you !!!! I love ever !!!!!...... Punkrock..... Exploited, Dead Kennedys........
I think I understood 3 maybe 4 words in that entire song - but it's still good.
Motorcycle Emptiness / Manic Street Preachers is another banger
Best intro in music ever.
Class of ‘83 Rules !! This was the kind of music we would listen to at the Alternative dance club when we were 21 and went to the city. Hot chicks, cool crazy music, lots of drinks and dancing and the best time of our lives…. I wish you could have been there too Milli 💕
From their masterpiece LOVE. Others may not but i was dissapointed about the follow up.
Millie should take a Time Machine you will know all the experience you mist it’s was incredible the 80th 🫶🫶😎😎👍👍
Millie you have to watch a set from the them at The Cult | House Of Strombo. It's a series of bands that play at George Stroumboulopoulos house in Toronto
You like this one? The ‘Love Removal Machine’ will blow your mind! Best Cult song ever!
Also, ‘pre-Cult’, you have Death Cult which has some really cool stuff
Gran rola Millie, gracias desde México :)
Millie, I was 20 when this song came out. Now imagine the music I heard 10 years before then 10 years after
Me too!
Saw The Cult live at Dundee University in 1985. It was a hot, sticky scene, you know what I mean. And, if you don't, go listen to Rain by these lads.
Ian Astbury criminally underrated front man 🤌🤌
Hey Millie, before you get too hot and bothered, remember that this song is 39 years old. That makes the singer, Ian, 62 years old. I'm sure he won't mind if you hit on him though.
Billy Duffy ( guitar ) is phenomenal. Love his Ernie Ball videos
