C'mon you guys know better than anyone that's not a "trail" lol. Also, they're (and the Rivian) a pain to recover b/c they're so heavy. Was on a run at Swisha in one of the groups I'm in and we had to recover a Rivian last summer. Not fun.

Everyone has a different version of what a trail is lol. These “type” of vehicles can do a lot but everything has its limits

More of how the Rivian & cyber truck actually handle on trail please! I think people see stats like HP and torque but miss the impact of articulation and traction control w/ 3 wheels on the ground.

I have been debating this because vehicle owners can get very sensitive on capabilities so it has to be worded correctly As to not upset anyone

@@That_Guy_Outside Clearance too. Certain Rivian models are comparable to an unmodified 4Runner but the Cyber is more like a soccer-mom AWD SUV when it comes to breakover etc. Then there's range. Most serious overland trips are gonna require 400 miles tank or tank+carried. These e-rigs fail that on tank and there's nothing you can do to carry short of a pretty significant inverter.
I'm not a Luddite. I'm all in for innovation. I just find the hype on these things intolerable. Not sayin ORC is hyping (I'm a bit of a fanboi so would never say that lol) but others certainly are.
These rigs will get there. But it's probably 10 years away before a fully electric could truly replace a modified combustion JKU, 4Runner, Bronc, what have you. Why can't we just admit that and all be friends rather than pretending and having petty arguments?
As terrifying as the realizations from last week's debate are, the one good thing it did was end the rather obvious gaslighting / make believe that's permeated public discourse since COVID. We can do same in the off-road/overland community with regard to these e-trucks and just say "hey its gonna be great when they're ready, but right now they just aint ready"

There’s pros and cons of every vehicle but the biggest lesson with anything is you need to know where your lane is and stay in it. These will never be rock crawlers, but some people think a dirt road is extreme others 12 foot vertical ledges. it’s individual perspective
