This video is a highlight from my recent stream where I rank the Godzilla movies on a tier list. Giving non-fanboy objective rankings for all godzilla movies from Toho and Legendary.

Godzilla Minus One is definitely a S tier, even way better than Godzilla 2014.
It has bring back the original meaning of Godzilla, and heavily focused on not just Godzilla, but also the human characters, and how they survive after the war, after Godzilla attacks on Ginza, and finally defeat Godzilla.
The struggle inside the protagonist’s mind really can make you feel the character’s emotions, and actually cares about them.
That is definitely way better than Godzilla 2014
You can say all this nonsense but without the monsterverse and Godzilla 2014 but Godzilla minus one wouldn’t exist because the director of Godzilla Minus one use some stuff from the monsterverse and it’s so true

Godzilla Minus One should be S-Tier. The editing that he speaks about, such as the main character appearing to help his girlfriend during the Ginza attack, isn’t that absurd. He hears the attack on the radio, then we spend a good portion watching Godzilla attack the city while following the girlfriend’s perspective, then we see him rescue her. There was a fair amount of time for him to get there. It wasn’t like we saw him at home and then the movie immediately cut to that moment. There was a dedicated amount of time to showing Godzilla’s rampage between those moments , so what do you mean?
Also the ending was great! It was action-packed and intense with a great soundtrack. While the tugboats did kind of come out of nowhere, it ultimately served one of the messages of the film in how powerful a community of dedicated people can be. When we as people put our minds together and work towards a singular goal together we can accomplish amazing things.
I will say that my main problem with the movie was that the second act, after the Ginza attack, did drag just a little bit.
Also, while I like Godzilla (2014), I’m not sure if it was worthy of S-Tier. Don’t get me wrong it definitely has its moments of true greatness, but the characters were just too boring. (Apart from Brian Cranston of course).
It was also way too dark in a literal sense, half the time I had no idea what was happening because I couldn’t see it. That’s why Godzilla Minus to me is so much more impressive. It accomplished what Godzilla 2014 did and added great human characters and you could actually see Godzilla in all his glory.
It did all of that on a budget of less than 15 million dollars, 145 million dollars less than what Godzilla 2014 had!

Godzilla Minus One is an easy S-Tier for me. Overall I mostly agree with the majority of the rankings so it's a reasonable enough tier list. Swap Godzilla 2014 & Godzilla Minus One and I wouldn't have much to complain about.

Tbh, Godzilla minus one and G54 are both ties for me for S-tier. I would agree on the those odd moments you mentioned in minus one, but the overall characterization of the humans and story and setting….i think it’s a solid movie along with 54. I would put it above G-14 mainly because Godzilla is the main focus while his character in G-14 almost felt like they had him in the background till the last act.
Minus one in b tier is wild 😅

Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah is my favorite and seeing it in D tier hurts me ngl. Nice ranking though!
I loved this one myself and it's my favorite Heisei era film as I liked the movie hyping up the G-man instead of making him the underdog.
This was entertaining to watch live.

Rob I love your channel but your argument with how horrible the final act for minus one was makes no sense, I agree with the statement, but 2014 had a HORRIBLE 2nd act, the middle of the movie dragged so much and not to mention they kept cutting away from the monster action, I like 2014, but for you to say minus one is OVERRATED??? The film was amazing, you always talk about how you want a Godzilla film with great characters and a great story and now you get it and now you call it overrated??? I swear people can’t just be happy. Minus one and 2014 are both great movies, but minus one deserves more respect, it literally got nominated for a fucking Oscar, and the characters for minus one shit on 2014, bryan Cranston was the only decent character in the movie and he gets killed off
There is no way in any universe that G14 is a better film than Minus One. Ridiculous ranking...

Godzilla 2014 is really the most overrated mediocre movie. It fails in the most Important aspects:
1. Terrible bland and boring Characters
2. A boring plot with no tension.
3. There is absolutely no fun or cheese. And thats a problem when the movie is boring and slow.
4. No real development or Character arcs...except for Brian Cranston
5. Censored Kaiju action. This feels like one of these censored horror movies where every death scenes gets cut. Its just terrible.
6. Nothing mind blowing happens. There are many other Godzilla movies that have more to offer
7. They kill off the only good character after 30 min xD what where writers smoking.
8. Generic and annoying loud music that doesnt fit.
The only good things about this movie is Brian Cranston, the Cinematagrophy and the CGI. The rest is Meh and boring.
This Movie belongs on C.
Kotm & GvsK arent great either, but atleast they are fun and cheesy kaiju movies with good fights.

Just kidding, but man you need to rewatch Godzilla vs Biollante just to make sure you are not being crazy.
I mean I do understand the cringe at the goofy aspect of the movie, the whole putting the soul of a dead girl in a flower and the girl soul manifests itself on the monster. I agree that it is a really stupid element of the movie and 100% unnecessary. It really adds nothing to the film at all. But I guess the reason why that doesn't really bothers me its because I focus on Godzilla when watching this film. And the Godzilla side of the movie is so good to me, that I just forget about the goofy crap.
B tier is a good spot for Godzilla versus Biollante in my opinion.
Biollante is S tier. Rob is off his rocker.

Dude, King Ghidorah is a jobber in 90% of the movies he’s in. Mind controlled by aliens 4 times, gets his butt kicked by Godzilla, Rodan and a Mothra *LARVA* in his debut movie. Heisei Ghidorah born through fusing 3 Furby rejects. GMK Ghidorah’s ass whooped despite his wings and gravity beams returning through the spirits of Mothra and Baragon. Planet Eater Ghidorah is 3, very fragile spaghetti noodles. Need me to say more? Goes to show you aren’t a true fan lmao
