The main cause of intermittent claudication is a condition called peripheral artery disease (PAD). That condition happens with atherosclerosis, which is a buildup of a wax-like substance called plaque on the inside of your arteries. As that buildup gets worse, there's less room for blood to flow through those arteries.
What can be mistaken for claudication?
Arthritis pain can also be mistaken for claudication, but arthritis involves the joints rather than the muscles, and arthritis pain is typically at its worst when you first start an exercise and diminishes as you keep going.
What foods should be avoided with claudication?
    High-Sodium Foods
    Canned/frozen meals.
    Cheese.
    Deep-fried food.
Salted snacks (potato chips, nuts, pretzels, etc.)
    Pickled Vegetables.
    Condiments/Sauces.
How do I stop my PAD from progressing?
You can help keep peripheral vascular disease from progressing in several ways:
    Not using tobacco products.
    Exercising regularly.
Limiting fat and following a healthy diet.
Managing your risk factors, such as diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
What is the best vitamin to unclog arteries?
Vitamins C, A, E and B6 are all essential vitamins to maintain healthy arteries. Vitamin C helps reduce cholesterol levels and promotes the formation of collagen that provides support to the arterial walls, and vitamin A encourages healthy cell growth for a strong arterial wall.
    Can claudication go away?
The symptoms of intermittent claudication are usually at their worst over the first 12 months. After this time the symptoms often stabilise. In many individuals the symptoms will improve. Improvement in symptoms is highly likely if you stop smoking and doing regular walking exercise.

    Thanks for the video.
What about Ratschow? Is there any evidence that carried out as an exercise is improving the vascular situation (due to collateralization)? At least that's what we learned in PT school...
