Who TONY HAWK Calls to Skate Pools

- When Tony Hawk & Lance Mountain want to skate pools, they call Ozzie Ausband. Ozzie's story is f*#king fascinating! He finds pools to skate...in peoples backyards... He tells us how he does this and it's ingenious. But he also is a walking encyclopedia for all things vintage pools and I love listening to him tell us all the interesting factoids. His website, 'Blue Tile Obsession' ozzieausband.wordpress.com/ blogs all of the cool shit he's done over the decades- like his co-lab with Tony Alva. He also wrote a book with photographer William Sharp called 'Back in the Day' and is working on his second. And as if he's not cool enough, he ALSO works as an RN when he's not working on pools! I consider him one of the legends right up there with the pros. Andy McDonald tells us who his favorite skater is.
AJ Nelson, Matthew Wilcox, Tristan Rennie, Dan Corrigan, Hericles Fagundes, Chris Hiett, Mason Merlino, MRZ.

People who have never skated a pool or uneven surface like this will never know how gnarly what these dudes just did 😮👏
100%. It's really hard to tell from video but when you ride a pool in person you understand how fuckin hard that shit is.
Yep ive been skating 20+ yrs. Can do most flip tricks, no possible way i could touch coping in a legit pool.
groupie
No doubt, pools are difficult. I have an empty pool and I still can't figure out how to skate it. It does not pass the stick test in several places, however.
"some days you're diamond and some days you're a stone" --ozzie ausband ..🙌🔥👏....
Gleaming The Cube
Fun video. in the70's we wore our neighbors pool down to the rebar, that was a fun place, very private..
As a street skate I tried once to skate pool and basically died
Great footy! Love hearing you guys are headed out paintballing!
I love his passion for pools. He's like a pool encyclopedia.
Keep riding for us old dudes! 🤙🏼
Matthew 🥰
This is so rad.
My Grandpa and great uncles are the Anthony Brothers.
🤯
So sick! Love me a good tony
The frontside 360 boneless in the corner pocket was magnificent @9:13
This younger Powell team has never had the recognition they deserve… glad they rightfully got called to rip.
And props to this channel who’s proud to rep his team!
Matthew Wilcox is a madman! He's my fav rn. 💪
Dude's a beast...
Dang, Chris just keeps getting better and better. Word up. And, of course, Ozzie is a legend.
Skated the Bible Bowl in OC with Ozzie about 15 years ago. Very nice man.
Sounds awesome , love the name . I skated in the 80's when there was no public skate parks . Me & my friends did skate Blood Bowl in east Oakland that existed from the 1970's through the end of the 80's before it was eventually filled in with dirt to end its 20 year run .
@@buddyleewoods2327 yeah dude, Bible Bowl
Is sick. It’s a private backyard bowl in Orange County, CA. Pretty sure it’s still there.
I'm gonna be 62 next week. More of **THIS**, please!
Mathew Wilcox is such a shredder!
'Exercise in futility'; thanks for that 🤔🫒😇
It's important not to show these addresses. It's not about hiding a spot from the public, it's about not directing harassment toward the owners. If a bunch of people from the internet start showing up at their house and knocking on their door, they're probably start to resent skaters. Respect their privacy guys.
We already have google maps bro. We’ve shredding peoples pools everytime a house up for sale or a family is on vacay bruh. No lack of address gonna stop us from pool hopping
@@trixonic6934 I'm not against using google maps as described in the video, but if everyone interested in pool hopping knocks on the same door, instead of searching for themselves, it could get super annoying for the home owner.
@@Marklar3WE DONT CARE! 😂
@@Deathcatclub I believe that most skaters do care about being considerate toward other people. Ozzie clearly does.
Captain obvious to the rescue
Pool days are fun
SICK OZZIE.....last book was awesome...look forward to the new one......

In the early 2000s, we used to have access permission. [When the chain was down] to skate Kelly bellmars pool in Garden Grove i wonder if that's still around. I think it was in some black label video.
Ozzie! Best human ever.
Matthew and the team are always impressive. Ozzys not the only guy in so cal with permission pools which is really cool because for those of us non professional skater, at least in so cal, we can enjoy pools as well.
Perfect timing on this upload. Sitting here poolside now draining the last foot of water out of a janky ass pool in Nola so incan skate before the storm. This just got me stoked even more! Cheers yall 🍻
Ozzie Ausband, one of the coolest personalities in skatebording.
Loved this.. you and Dan Corrigan Love your vids man.. feels like I'm there.
Man aj stalled the hell out of that first invert he did good shit!
Great video Deville. The bartering Ozzie offers in order to skate the pools is pretty cool. Very interesting history. And like always, best lunch/dinners ever!
I found this terribly emotional. A different kind in compared to the large ramps n stuff. ❤🙏🏼🤩
This was definitely more of a documentary. I love this one a lot reminds me of chilling with the Homies.
Absolutely one of your best Deville👑👑👑
Yeah Ozzie!💙
While eating a bowl of cereal..... Eureka 😅
Matthew Wilcox is a legend!
I can vouche for RyanRowe, he has the most excellent taste in everything, especially guitarists 😋😇🫒
@@mytorment Yes Sir!
Legend
Pasadena 1976 we would see water going down the gutter and go find an empty pool. Usually would steal the pump for later use. Who remembers the bunk bowl across from Pasadena city college or the seal bowl in sierra madre (skated seal bowl with Chris stropple back in the day). Pool skating in the 70s was such a fun adventure. Thanks Dog Town.
Grew up down Rosemead Blvd from you. San Gabriel Valley brah. Skated all through out there. Pasadena, Arcadia, Temple City ect. Wouldn’t be long until we were trippin’ on Van Halen!
1975/76 Covina. Blue Haven pool showroom out of biz. 6 pools but only skated 3. Kidney oval and a weird half square half round with lava rock at the top.
Documentary type stuff for sure!
I'd love to try skating a pool. I live in the upper Midwest. Closest thing I've skated was the bowl at Kona skatepark.
This would make a crazy movie
So sick
I've just put the 1k thumb just sayin' 😜 great to hear Ozzie witnessing and doing what he do!!! Crazy session insane level what else?? 🤘😎🤙 Get the "Back in the day" photobook!!
Fucking Corrigan... 😂 the rest, very inspiring. Ozzie is a legend all time. 🙏
Ozzie living the dream a endless supply of concrete waves I’m jealous
Lol I love how Tony Hawk was like "Dude, you gotta call this guy he's the one who knows" XD
Excellent. Skate & Destroy. Very, very cool.
Epic video gentlemen. That's passion right there.
not me outside trying to drain my pool hoping tony hawk comes over this summer
Ohhh this is the guy who fabian alomar was talking about in the 9 club when he was telling a story about skating with some old pool skaters son in a contest. At first i thought he meant steve Olson but Fabian said Ozzy or ozzly
Love it history man aJ is so knarr
Just be respectful, I ride bmx and have scouted pools for over 10 years since I was in high school. Never gets old.
Nice Sad Plant from Matt.
better than most of your videos. Really raising the bar here. Im gonna expect more in the future.
Great vid, nice work!
Shawn Peddie had a special built bowl to skate in his backyard. His dad owned a pool company. R.I. P. Shawn
Very interesting!
Good one!!
it bothers me that you only have 9k subs..
Absolutely
me too! 🤨
if i ever own a pool and anyone knocks to skate it they are always welcome year round
It's going to be a sad day when AJ retires that hat.
11:10 whys dan at the sesh? theres no ledge to slappy crook !! all jokes ofc
Dan's usually at sessions, he's like the hardline Powell camera guy 😁 ofc
Ozzie THE SOTY OF All TIME
Thank you DeVille for this excellent edit. This is what modern skating needs more of in 2024. We need more public vert ramps the most tho.
Nice
A lil ole lady named Bettie owned it. Bettie. Or Betty maybe.
Rad to see Kiko!!!!
I use to carry a round piece of metal and a roll of duct tape myself.
Rad!
🤩
16:04 Pool Dan showed up?
Skaters have evolved to skate with no pads
👍👍
Wher can I get this man’s books @

Metallica. Motorhead. S'cool.
you can still see the addy of the place maybe you needa blur it out
P R O
who do you pay to do your yard? No-one, a bunch skaters just come by now an then, tear up the pool and sweep the yard. Karen got confused, Karen has feinted.
Thats some weirdo shit ngl
human interaction is so weird bro fr fr ngl on a stack no cap
@@ericspring2033no not really creeping on a satellite thru peoples backyards then approaching their house door to door in real life is tho
@@Dave-ohhhthey used to rent helicopters to scout for pools
@@raskassputin7408 yeah it's just a Cali thing I guess.
Outstanding video and books coming from a true pioneer (and Jarhead) illustrating what shredding real pool and tile coping is all about...SF.💯🇺🇸🛹🤙
