- I know that not all of this is unreleased. The Impossible Planet and The Lone Dalek were both on the soundtrack but it wouldn't have been complete without them. The main unreleased segment is the piece at the start and the Rose's theme segment is also a little different to the soundtrack version.
The transition from Rose's theme to The Lone Dalek always has me in tears. Perfectly suits the emotional separation between her and the Doctor, with both in tears. 😭
I am convinced that the end of The Lone Dalek is one of the most emotionally powerful pieces of music the show has ever produced - Murray Gold really outdid himself only a year or two into the job.
I like how this soundtrack has the hopeless theme from The Christmas Invasion when humanity is standing on the rooftops while The Doctor is "absent" going into Rose's theme and finally into the soundtrack when Rose gave the Dalek permission to die and the first time The Doctor and Rose were separated on the decision that needed to be made on how The Dalek should be taken care of but now this separation was made by the Universe and that is absolutely heartbreaking. I think I cry every time I see this episode no matter how many times I see it.
Now every time there's a new companion I always hope they are just gonna be a friend to the Doctor like Donna and Amy. Not a love interest. Because I think that ever since Rose, The Doctor has held onto that statement they told Rose in School Reunion; "You can spend the rest of your life with me but I can't spend the rest of mine with you. I have to go on... Alone. That's the curse of the Time Lords."
Do you have any idea how long I've been looking for this? Years knowing that somewhere in the BBC there's a clean recording of this that Gold just sat on, and never put on a soundtrack.

Great stuff as always. I hope you can get the version of The Shepherd’s Boy that plays near the end of The Doctor Falls extracted at some point.

i don’t know if anyone has said this already, but the bit of rose’s theme before “the lone dalek” starts is sort of an unreleased extension of her theme that appears on the official soundtrack. if you watch the concert from 2006 of the orchestra performing rose’s theme you’ll hear there’s an additional 2 minutes of music after the song initially ends
Love this! One of the saddest moments in doctor who history for me so far. Also some of the the most memorable and emotional scenes for me. I cry every time I watch Army of Ghosts and Doomsday. 😢😊

Another great rip! Could you do the theme in Blink when the Angels are attacking near the end? Or the little guitar cue when the Doctor reaches towards River's diary in Silence in the Library? Just some suggestions, I love all your rips, highly appreciated!
