Do I have to have overlapping notes, when I use legato? Otherwise legato speed is alwasy zero...

I got BBCSO and it was so disappointing it’s put me right off purchasing anything else from them.

Please can someone help me. When I play a note it sometimes changes to a different octave no matter how hard or soft i play the midi, like if I play a C4 sometimes it plays C4 or C5 i also noticed it when im playing a melody in live. Did i miss something? This is my first solo strings btw
