- Hey everyone, today we're taking a look at the sample library Cinematic Studio Solo Strings (CSSS).
It's a great solo strings library with a lot of quality, finesse and usability for cinematic composers, and it blends perfectly with Cinematic Studio Strings.
It is currently available for $299 ($239 during Black Friday!).

Had anybody imagined in 1960s that a day will come when these kind of phenomenal orchestral pieces will be composed sitting on a chair in a room just by one person on a computer? We are living in absolute diamond age of music technology!!
yeah Man absolutely 🔥
A beautiful piece of music, with great sounds.
4:32 Hearing hints of Concerning Hobbits brought me back to the Shire
Some old Toby and a violin 😂
And for clarification: ALL the strings in this demo are from CSSS. No other library used for that. I've just added some small things like cymbal, piano, flute to accompany. Best, W.
Gorgeous results!
Evenant thank you. What would you recommend to match this ensemble as heard here ua-cam.com/video/Ge-jDfYNNsk/v-deo.html
I bought this library earlier this year. They sound phenomenal but take some learning to get it to do what you want
Especially because the developer introduced 1/4 of latency in the samples, which generates an absurd discomfort in the playability.
@@JR-bn3ev I guess a work around is too use the marcato for sketching and edit afterwards
Fantastic demonstration.
Thanks @Walid. This was very helpful.Such a beautiful library. When using this library do you play them in or use the pen tool or both?
Hi walid. I'm new to production, have access to a few of your courses. I'm really struggling to learn how to use this library. I don't understand whether I need to use control faders to map to things like vibrato, expression etc. or whether I can use my weighted keyboard. I'm so confused! Can you point me in the right direction since I can't find information like this on your courses yet. Thank you!
Love the subtle Link to the Past reference
Amazing composition! What vst did you use for the piano?
Thanks, Walid. Is there any way to assign a keyswitch to the sustain vibrato on/off?
Hey! You can just assign vibrato to a knob/slider and turn it all the way down for senza vibrato :) Best, W.
I love the sound of this library. It's a shame there's no double bass though.
Transposing the cello down might work. It does with the Best Service Cello.
Yeah! Got my hands on that library
It's great isn't it! :) Best, W.
@@Evenant have still to discover all its features. It's amazing for sure, which is why I'm really looking forward to Cinematic Studios next releases.
@@nilstarlight Alex is working on so much great stuff so will be very cool to see what's going to come. Brass up next! Best, W.
Should I get this over the Cremona quartet?
Great piece ;)
reallly nice sound might hav eto ge this
got it this week, i dojt know if its just me, but there's waaay too much mic noise hissing in the samples ,
I wanted this to make a very pianissimo piece of music, and its just impossible to cope. maybe I'm just doing something wrong tho
Can't wait for the Woodwinds from Cinematic Studio Series!!!
tolis gamer do you know when it’s released?
@@omariuscp No my friend.i hope until the end of 2019.i hope.
@@tolisgamer Well now it's here
@@DJVipFlash Yes!😁
Do you find Cubase to be your go to DAW for this kind of thing?
At first I thought this was official tutorial, until I recognized your sound lol
Is this library pre-mixed and by that i mean is it panned left or right depending on instrument? Do i have flexibility to mix it myself more into middle for example?
Hey Pawel! Yes, the library comes with natural panning of the instruments, but you can definitely pan your instruments accordingly to make it sound in the middle :) Cheers, Kenny
Sehr gut!
What are the name of strings that doesn’t have cello or violin and stuff like that but sounds like a natural cinematic string
is there a solo contrabass library that goes well with this?
Exquisite
I'm waiting for the day when I can afford some of the courses on Evenant
We'll be here for when you're ready to join us. :) Cheers!
I'm waiting as well....
Just start for free download from torrent and buy piano and your ready to go.
I'm so glad I purchased both Studio and Solo
I love them both!! Best, W.
I'd like to buy it but the download is far too big for my setup. Where can I buy it Boxed ???
Hey there! I dont think they sell it boxed! To my knowledge its download only, but check in with them to see if they have changed their options :) Cheers! - KM
Thank you for this. Do you feel this is the strongest quartet/solo string library available?
Slow emotional = csss
virtuosic = spitfire solo strings
@@MiloMcCarthyMusic thanks so much!!
I have cash to invest in only one solo strings library. At the moment, there are three libraries I am confused between them and which one to choose.
Cinematic Studio Solo Strings ($299)
CineStrings Solo (on sale now $199)
Emberton Intimate Solo Strings Bundle ($297)
when comparing this and cinematic strings 2, which one does have better string realism quality? i really love the sound on both of them and I cant decide which is better for ambient piano composition
Depends on your skills honestly. I've seen guys doing amazing things with free libraries
I am really stuck between this and the SWAM Audio Modeling Solo Strings, a real tough choice to make as both sound great.
What did you go for? Im not sure which to get
It's a really tough choice! CSSS has limited articulations, but a beautiful sound, whereas SWAM's potential for expression is unparalleled, even though it can sound a bit tacky at times.
From my experience SWAM cello doesn't sound realistic. It has a weird buzzy sound which is unfortunate, because the expressivity is great.
9:43 Zelda a Link to the Past memories...
I was surprised when I heard that too!!
Super Sounds
fucking awesome
15:19 even without reverb there is much too much room on the samples for me - what mic position do you use? it maybe better to my ear with only the close mic´s?
how do you get ride of the vibrato?
why would you ever want to do that?
@@worldmusictheory for some pieces yeah!
Interesting that they didn't bother sample a double bass. Doesn't bother me at all mind you. Thanks for the video.
Only thing I don’t like about this library is the rogue vibrato that you can’t control. It’s either OFF or WAY ON.
I have this one
Chris Hein is the one I use the most still.
Spitfire I’ve never used yet. Something strange about it.
I have Spitfire Solo Strings. I dont like it very much soundwise. And the Vibrato is also either On or off
This is just how solo strings work in samples, solos are already a big phasey mess with dynamic crossfading alone
We dont need those Spitfire 1,2,3,4,5,6 or metropolis ark 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 "fck those numbers" all we need is Cinematic library series, that's enough👍
Hello folks, do have a couple of questions; what does it mean by "This whole track is in free time" at 1:47 ? and why is there loads of noise while the library is playing? it's quite disturbing to my ear
Hey there! Kenny here jumping in - It just means that its not locked in to the grid and quantized! As for the noise, not sure as it sounded fine on my end! Could be the frequencies from the vibrato, I'd look into your high frequency settings on your setup. Cheers! - KM
@@Evenant Thanks very much!
:O
How do I controll vibrato? Because there is vibrato during whole time
Hey Helio! We haven't gotten a chance to play with that part, but just did some quick research and it seems you can program the vibrato on/off switch with one of the CCs. Check out this article here for more info: vi-control.net/community/threads/cinematic-studio-strings-with-50-vibrato.78742/
Cheers!
Kenny
Too bad the vibrato can not be controlled properly on the solo violin. Alex should fix this in a long overdue update.
Around 4:32, concerning hobbits!! 🤓🤓🤓
I recognized it too 😂
not bad
1:37
In my opinion, the sounds are great on their own, but when played in context, it sounds a little too... unemotional? When soloists genera;;y play, they bleed of emotion, and this is where I feel this library falls flat. This library works best in conjunction with CSS, to layer and provide a closer and chamber-y feeling to the strings, but as only for solos, I would not use this. I would think of actually using primarily solo libraries from other developers... But yes, the costs add up there, as each library goes up to $200+.. uuughhh sacrifices and choices :-(
Hey bro, which libraries do you recommend for Solo stuff?
