They still are in the top top top. If you ask any korean they will say BIGBANG is the biggest group even though they aren't active now, and the numbers said so too, biggest concerts, albuns sale and etc. Other groups like EXO, BTS and TWICE are popular now and this change every time, but BIGBANG is in another level. In the beginning of this year they drop a song that they recorded before (Flower Road), and without ANY promotion, the song stayed in #1 for months. And the song is one of the top, if not the top one in the charts of this year. This popular groups right now would never do such thing, they have to promote every song in music shows, sell albuns, go to programs and etc to reach the numbers.

@@anthonytoo Thank you for being open to learning and yes they came before, the thing is they are still active in the music industry, only stopping to do military service, so they are not a 'were' just yet. All kpop boy groups will stop to do military and hopefully return.
@@anthonytoo Well thank you for actually looking forward to understand the Hallyu Wave, but don't think the old groups are just "the ones who made the way for new groups" and that they are dead now. The big numbers in BIGBANG's concert records and mostly international concerts. They are famous worldwide too, man you should've seen when BIGBANG drop the MADE album in 2015, kpop fans worldwide gone crazy, was insane. Super Junior for exemple, one of the first groups to introduce the world to kpop, still is the biggest group in Arabic countries, and they have a massive audience there.
I just indulge in kpop last 2017, my first bias group is Bigbang. I really tried to check other groups but still i ended up stanning Bigbang more. Now, aside from Bigbang i also fell in love with Winner and iKON. YG music is definitely my taste. Pls react to Bigbang CNN talk asia interview.
Same girl!! my daughter found PSY on youtube, 3 yrs ago, and from there i discovered bigbang and 2ne1 and then the rest of YG family. i have not been able to find any groups that interest me as much as YG artists. maybe a couple songs here and there but not enough for me to find out more about them and watch their vids and variety shows. no disrespect to them, they're just not for us. theres just something about YG artists that i love...esp bigbang.
One of the many aspects I like Bigbang is that they're prolific in other areas too, not just in music. T.O.P is also an actor, art curator, and collector. He has a whole warehouse refrigerated for paintings he's spent over millions to purchase. He is an avid collector of chairs. He is related to Kim Whanki (grandson of Whanki's nephew), who is recognized as a pioneering abstract artist in Korea. Kim Whanki's works can also be seen in this music video. There are many references here that relates to art (DADA from Dadaism, an art movement against the capitalist culture and degradation of art). There are also film references like The Blair Witch Project, and some Salvador Dali here and there, T.O.P acting as an ape actually symbolizes that the role "rapper" in the kpop industry is given to those who don't necessarily have the skillset to rap, and later on when dressed as human T.O.P, symbolizes unskilled "rappers" who imitate his style. The baby represents those junior artists who do have the skillsets to become great rappers, but they look grimaced because they are speaking from the "mass media", and not by their own free will. So, T.O.P is helping them along the way, saying "Hakuna Matata" (it means no worries! for the rest of your days 😉). T.O.P is promoting the Dadaism movement to the audience. As if he's telling us to break our chains (DADAism) from the norms of the mass media (mob mentality, or ignorance = the root causes of war according to Dadaism. basically, DOOM), and create our own freaky ideas. God (DIVI) created us and gave us free will, right? So, let's create with our own free will as well! He chants DOOM DADA DIVI DADA like we're about to go on a riot. T.O.P's mind works differently, but holy hell it's great.
BIGBANG is still at the top, they released a single in 2018 with no mv or promotion in topped the charts and it was the only group with over 1.26M unique listeners in the first 24 hours. You should also check the solos of Seungri, Daesung and Taeyang they're all amazing.
The cavemen are referencing an old movie, “2001 a space Odyssey”, the mustache is a throwback to Salvador Dali, a surrealist painter. There are a lot of references to Evolution and forward-looking (i.e. telescope). I think that was a zebra and NOT a horse...horses are much larger than zebras, and T.O.P clearly dwarfed that animal. One of my favorite parts of this was when T.O.P was running in tandem with the skeletons via the zoetrope. The last flow is mind blowing and proves that T.O.P deserves to be considered King of Korean Rap imo.
Honestly he's such a legend. I love him so much. I think a lot of ppl in the kpop world just know bigbang as the kings of kpop. No one has never really argued with it much cause it's just facts
yeah...the video is just recreating or referencing other things. don't ask me what exactly but the cavemen are supposed to be from some old film and the baby is too i think. the mustache TOP had was because he's supposed to be some artist from the same era and there are like 50 other references in the mv. maybe look up the art movement dadaism. "DaDa"ism is another layer to what TOP was going for as well. the song lyrics are saying all the other rappers are simple cave men while he has evolved to the next level/class/tear of rap. at least that's what i took from it. there was that shot where they were all chained together by their feet with the primitive men all hunched over and TOP is standing in the front. like 'the march of progress' illustration. love the new intro! happy new year btw
Big Bang = KINGS OF KPOP and still is KINGS OF KPOP despite doing their mandatory military enlistment! Even when in enlistment, their song “Flower Road” has hit #1 and hit 1M+ listeners and still managed to get PAK with no MV or promotions and with most of the members in the military already. Even to BTS and all the rising and most popular KPOP groups right now looked up to BIG BANG. BIG BANG was the ones who influenced and inspired them to become artists/singers. There’s a huge respect of the new generation to Big Bang and of course the 2nd generation idols like 2NE1, SUPER JUNIOR, 2PM, Girl’s Generation, Wonder Girls, TVXQ, PSY, BOA and even the 1st generation like G.O.D, Shinhwa, H.O.T, Sechskies, and S.E.S paved the way for the new generation. The 1st and 2nd generation idols were the ones along with korean actors/actresses/kdramas that started the whole KOREAN WAVE aka Hallyu Wave. They all have done promotion and tv shows in the United States, but it wasn’t until maybe 2016 and social media became a King thing that made KPOP become a huge TREND. If social media/technology was more advanced in the late 90s to early 2000s. It would be more known, but it didn’t happen then and being an older fan it was so much harder to get information let alone watch live performances on UA-cam. Every variety shows were cut into 20 parts. We had to wait forever and a day for English translations to be uploaded. So it’s way more easier nowadays to have direct access to the artists or everything regarding KPOP artists. I’m quite envious of this generation tbh, but nonetheless...just always give respects to the idols who started it all for the new generations.
bigbang is still the top top top :) actually bigbang hit their mega recordw every 3 year . bc that s how they coke back . with each comeback they reclaim their throne . their last mega hit and top of the food chain was at 2017 right before they enlist to military

T.O.P. is an art collector and very big into design. The chairs in the mv are actually part of his own personal collection. The mv is actually based on the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and the title is probably a reference to the art movement Dadaism.
BIGBANG is that UNTOUCHABLE group. People might say somethin' about the issues, scandals and allegations thrown into them, but NO ONE can touch and disputd their musicality. They're the one who transformed the KPOP. PERIODT.
TOP is an art colector and this mv has a lot of references to an art movement caled Dadaism. TOP is the guy who made it cool for underground rappers to be idols. Before rappers would consider idols inferior . BigBang are kings not just because popularity but because the entire music industry shifted to be more like them. They introduced mv teasers, mini albums, made tv shows crazy, created the first official lightstick and basicaly made it popular for the youngest member to be called maknae ( because Seungri and TOP have the same name ) . They are also very popular solo artists . They are among the first to produce and write their own music
You should check BIGBANG Live performances. Coz no matter how I try to see other idols they still can't reach BIGBANG in terms of performances. BIGBANG is known as an artists than being an Idol. BIGBANG's achievements actually opened a lot of opportunities for the newer generations. P.S. no hate but the closest one to Bigbang will be their brother IKON. (Not on popularity (but soon I know they'll be there.. they did really good for year 2018) but for IKON, stage is their playground... They're wild and having fun 😊😊😊 hoping you'll check their lives to. 🤗
You probably won't see this but I thought I'd just put it out there that the "sasquatches" are apes and that whole thing is a reference to the beginning of the classic 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Nobody that I've seen watch this has ever gotten that. Apparently no film buffs have reacted to this MV.

OF course there’s people who came before them who made the ways for groups and artists today, just like western artists and old pop/hip hop “legends”
@hannah -_-
@@anthonytoo Thank you for being open to learning and yes they came before, the thing is they are still active in the music industry, only stopping to do military service, so they are not a 'were' just yet.
You should start watching live performances. You will know the difference of a legend group.
Yes! Their gigantic concerts and even their MAMA stages!
Note that using the word "gigantic" is not overexaggurated considering their last concert held 65k seats.
There are also film references like The Blair Witch Project, and some Salvador Dali here and there,
T.O.P acting as an ape actually symbolizes that the role "rapper" in the kpop industry is given to those who don't necessarily have the skillset to rap, and later on when dressed as human T.O.P, symbolizes unskilled "rappers" who imitate his style.
*happy new year and thank you for more Bigbang*
KINGS . MORE BIGBANG
Honestly he's such a legend. I love him so much. I think a lot of ppl in the kpop world just know bigbang as the kings of kpop. No one has never really argued with it much cause it's just facts
Who gotta watch this live the last flow part that u liked he rapped even faster than the song the performance is just litty 💜💜💜💜
Damn i miss t.o.p so much😭😭💜
Yeah you right 2013 is when Big Bang was the top top top dogs. Now they still is the top dogs. Aint no group takin that spot from them
Isn’t most of BigBang getting released out the military this year ?😃
Yup and Seungri is living
TOP will be out mid year and Ji, YB and Dae will be out end of the year
@@kristenarosem yuuuppp,,, i miss my boys
@@doritosareyammy me too 😢😢😢😢😢
Yes, OT4 is coming back this year. 😭
yeah...the video is just recreating or referencing other things. don't ask me what exactly but the cavemen are supposed to be from some old film and the baby is too i think. the mustache TOP had was because he's supposed to be some artist from the same era and there are like 50 other references in the mv. maybe look up the art movement dadaism.
I’m quite envious of this generation tbh, but nonetheless...just always give respects to the idols who started it all for the new generations.
bigbang is still the top top top :) actually bigbang hit their mega recordw every 3 year . bc that s how they coke back . with each comeback they reclaim their throne . their last mega hit and top of the food chain was at 2017 right before they enlist to military
bts is the top top top as of now
anthony too lol
:)
@@anthonytoo Yeah but Big Bang are generally considered legends. They're routinely still called the Kings of K-pop for a reason. Ain't nobody considering BTS legends at this point in time lol.
Maybe you should dive more into Kpop before saying who the top top top group is cause BIGBANG are still the kings of Kpop
the new intro is sick, i’m so glad yall are reacting to this, but what really got me is the way he said “authentic” i fckn died
MY ACTUAL DAD!
MY ULT
MY KING
BTS are actually super fans of Big Bang, TOP is a very amazing rapper and was also known in the underground scene. BTS are doing amazing right now but when all of Big Bang return from the military their will be fierce competition once again by BIG BANG are (one of)the kings and BTS could be considered one of the Princes
This song and this video is a freaking piece of art, TOP is a genius to me. True king
The new intro is so cool. Happy New Year, a lot of love from Brazil!
...... This is the best reaction from them that I have seen
Yes Yes Yes! ! T. O. P. name says it all! One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite kings! Can't wait for you to react to the other members of BIGBANG.
no that's not another dude that's THE SAME BEST RAPPER OF K-POP T.O.P 😂
he's also a famous actor of Korea that's why he can change his expression using different styles to represent different side
Read this if want to know how big is Big Bang
“ BIG BANG LEGACY “
Big Bang alone carries significant weight in K-pop. It took about a decade for Big Bang to evolve from a young idol group into a quintet of cultural icons. The fashion-conscious, song-and-dance-loving artists became trendsetters, producing a variety of hip-hop tracks. Everything from their outfits to their hairstyles immediately became the standard. It was not just in Korea either. Big Bang reached beyond Asia, and the members have grown to be truly global stars. Big Bang's first 10 years have been overwhelming and left an indelible mark on Korean pop music history." - Beyond Magazine.
Big Bang is YG's most successful artist and was responsible for more than half of YG’s albums sold in Korea from 2014 to 2017 before their hiatus due to military enlistment. They were the first Korean mainstream hip hop idols, being credited for the genre spreading throughout Asia as a representative of the Hallyu Wave. The Korea Times have called them "the icons of Korean pop [music]", and cited how G-Dragon's rise to one of the most accomplished songwriters in K-pop "has inspired many young idol-wannabes to become singer-songwriters." Yonhap News Agency stated that the quintet has helped “spread K-pop as a cultural brand spanning the U.S., Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.”In 2011, #BBC declared that "K-pop bands, including Big Bang, are making their mark around the world," citing the group's contribution to YG Entertainment's economic growth. After the group won the 2011 #MTV Europe Music Award for Best Worldwide Act, #Google announced that its subsidiary #UA-cam would launch its own K-pop channel in recognition of the popularity and success of K-pop. The British daily newspaper The #Guardian also published an article discussing the importance of how the win had "shed light on the rise of Korean music across Europe."#Jacques Peterson from The Sydney Morning Herald credited their success for giving a “idiosyncratic twist” on their genre that breaks the mould of the idol group formula. Suk Park, the president of DramaFever, has hailed them as the #vanguard of K-pop. The Michigan Daily have described Big Bang as a rare group that "both innovates and defines the direction a genre takes," affirming that the group and its solo acts "have left a musical imprint that has affected the global music market." Mark James Russell, an entertainment journalist based in Seoul, praised the group for defying categorization, stating how " all the mainstream acts, they’re doing the most to push boundaries of what is considered K-pop." Anna Fifield from The Washington Post claimed that they "have defined and redefined South Korean pop music. They've defied the idea that so-called K-Pop is inevitably sugarcoated and factory-produced, and that boy bands are all about pretty faces and lip-synching." Los Angeles Times praised their constant re-imagination of sound and image, calling Big Bang as "one of the most inventive, aesthetically visionary acts in its genre." In an article published for the quintet's tenth anniversary, #Billboard stated that "no act has enthralled the Korean music world in the past decade quite like Big Bang" later adding that they have "shaped the Korean music industry" and were enabled to "surpass international boundaries and shirk off the limitations of K-pop's youth-focused industry."
In recognition of their global popularity, Big Bang is a prominent face of South Korea when it comes to tourism. Their Big Show concerts were promoted by the South Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Visit Korea Committee from 2010 to 2012, crediting the group's "big economic impact on the country." In 2014, the national postal service of the country, Korea Post, honored them by releasing official postage stamps containning images of the group. In 2016, they were chosen as ambassadors for the country's "Creative Korea" tourism campaign. In 2016, Big Bang ranked second on Time magazine's polls for Most Influential People in the World, behind only American politician Bernie Sanders. The same year, Forbes listed the group at number 54 on their annual list of Celebrity 100, having earned $44 million from June 2015 to June 2016. Becoming the first Korean act to appear on the list, the group had the third highest annual earnings ever for a boy band, behind only One Direction and Backstreet Boys. Big Bang was named one of the most #influential artists to impact the Hallyu Wave by The Korea Herald, being among the acts that best represent K-pop, and the "Top Male Idol Group in the Past 20 Years" in Dong-a Ilbo's survey of both the Korean public and music critics. Additionally, they were the highest ranking musicians in JoongAng Ilbo's "Most Powerful Figures In Korean Entertainment" list, placing at number four. In 2017, they became the first Korean artists to be included on Forbes 30 Under 30 list of musicians revolutionizing the modern music industry. Songs released by the group, such as "Lies" and "Fantastic Baby" are considered some of K-pop's biggests hits and most iconic songs ever. In their list of "The 21 Greatest K-Pop Songs of All Time," Spin magazine lists "Bad Boy" at number thirteen and the song "High High" by the duo GD & TOP at number seven. "Fantastic Baby" ranked at number twenty-two in Rolling Stone magazine's "50 Greatest Boy Band Songs of All Time" list. Additionally, "Fantastic Baby" placed second and "Love Song" thirteenth in Stereogum's list of "Best K-pop Videos.""Lies" was also chosen as the "Song of the Decade" by Mnet's M! Now you know!!!!!
So many of these that I didn't know!! I'm still learning 🙂 thanks! ❤
LMAO bigbang created the "top" and they are still the best sellers of kpop uwu
BigBang still the top,, they just won a new award for their song “flower road” which wa released last year w/ no music video & no promotion - & 4/5 members in the military
bigbang are my ults btw....i dont think anyone wanted to know but there, take it, have it, appreciate it.
😂😂
*high five*
you read my mind bruh!! i was just about to recommend this song!!
I love this song SO much! TOP is 👌🏼👌🏼🔥
Also, Happy New Year to everyone! 💜
Yessss good reaction! Just amazing!
T.O.P. is an art collector and very big into design. The chairs in the mv are actually part of his own personal collection. The mv is actually based on the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey and the title is probably a reference to the art movement Dadaism.
All my kings are freaky 😜😜. Forever VIP
😂😂 and people wonder why VIPs are crazy
Love love TOP.. he's the real deal! My favorite kpop anything
I love the new intro!!!
BIGBANG is that UNTOUCHABLE group. People might say somethin' about the issues, scandals and allegations thrown into them, but NO ONE can touch and disputd their musicality.
They're the one who transformed the KPOP. PERIODT.
sick new intro, great song choice
Happy new year!! The new intro is so trippy but I’m living for it! I’m so glad you’re reacting to this, this is my Bigbang bias
This man Paul’s freestyle 🗿😂😂
G-Dragon Coup D'etat next pls
You should react to Live version of This song on MAMA AWARD
If there's another person you need to do a Rate That Outfit on....
It's definitely T.O.P
yess I’ve been waiting for this reaction
The intro is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
oh man its been years since i watched this
Truly ahead of his time. Pls react to Act Like Nothing's Wrong live performance Big Show 2009-2010
yow, TOP got back from his military work! he just discharged yesterday. long time no see~ TOP. btw, thank you for this reaction
The video is Art ... Literally 👀
They are among the first to produce and write their own music
thank you for reacting to it! i love the new intro
CANELA
He is FOREVER a legend in the male kpop rap industry he paved the way for the new comers 🤷🏽♀️🔥HES woke and he spits fire
*KINGS* 💛💛💛💛💛
He performed this song live and he was still crazy
" I think that's just a horse painted." - I DIED. I ain't ever notice that. Pm never fails to have me laughing.
Prepare yourselves, 4/5 of BIGBANG will return this year.
PREPARE YOURSELVES.... KINGS ARE COMING!!!!
BIGBANG FOREVER
HAPPY NEW YEAR LOVE YA VIDEOS CANT WAIT FOR MORE VIDEOS💗💗💗💗💘
😂😂😂 Doom DA DA is definitely a freaky video. TOP is a creative dude. Have you ever seen pics of him before he became an idol? He was actually quite overweight and worked his ass off to get healthy lose weight. He is a LEGEND!!!!
yes my KING 👑♥️♥️♥️
Hi! I love your reactions 😊😘
P.S. Happy New Year 🎉🎆🎊
OHOHOHO EEEYASS MY BIAS, top is the shit 😂🖤 such a dork, such a loving giant, just.. the best.
He is an artist who is inspired by dadaism which is a form of art and thinking
Loving the new intro😌
Ooooh I really do hope you will keep getting into BIGBANG. They are such an amazing group. If you wanna check some more their solo stuff, I highly recommend GD's Coup d'etat

GD는 시대를 앞서간 트렌드를 보여줬고
TOP은 다른 차원의 뮤지션 활동을 하는 느낌
cant wait for BigBang to get out of military and hopefully make music again
I was waiting for this one 😭
The new intro is really good!
LOL it's 3 a.m. but had to check this out. Happy New year!
that new intro is nice !!
Again, the lyrics here are what's important. Then you'll understand the imagery
They do a lot of double meaning, cultural references, and specifically here, artistic references (T.O.P. is a fan of art, and this one references Dadaism, a art revolution)
"the top top top dogs" my inner toppklass: please check out the group toppdogg
more of Big Bang pleaseeee
You guys are hilarious.
Happy new year 💕💕
BIGBANG - BAD BOY!!!! NO.1 SONG OF BIGBANG
The new intro is great but it'll take awhile to get used to. Happy New year!! This is a great reaction to a great song. 😘
