DC has really been going all out with Nightwing these past few years and I love it. It seems like since the Rebirth event he has been spending more and more time in the spotlight. Leading teams during events and not just Batman tie-ins mind you, universe changing events like No Justice and Dark Knights Metal until eventually he was front and centre for Dark Crisis along with the Titans. DC has even begun to see him as the beating heart of the new DC multiverse. He's the guy Superman tells Jon to go to for advice, not any league member or Batman, Nightwing. He's better than Batman, Bruce helped him avoid becoming as dark and jaded and kept a light alive in his soul. Nightwing is the hopeful hero Batman wishes he could be, lacking the cynicism and paranoia Bruce struggles to overcome that leads him to be a loner and lacking teammate. To me Nightwing is the best of DC, the unwavering hope of Superman, and the peak human capabilities of Batman tied into one unstoppable force for good.
Nah I personally think this it a pretty accurate representation of Dick Grayson. I just genuinely think they got it right, Dick and Tim do actually just share a lot of similar characteristics, as well as Dick did have a few similar characteristics to Jason when he was younger. Like he was sassy as hell 😂 I just think with more recent comics they have been trying to seperate the Robins more by their personality and because of that they have been taking and isolating certain personality traits or characteristics to only one robin. When a lot of them have always shared them. Dick was always intelligent, and a good detective like Tim. Always very reflective and would isolate himself sometimes. I mean that’s why he originally made the decision to become Nightwing. Dick always had a bit of violence at his core, and was always super sassy (especially in the og comics 😂) and would get angry all the time like Jason. I think they have done a brilliant Job with young justice of taking Dick for all that he is and has been over the years. I think they have really captured the heart and pin pointed a lot of what makes Dick Grayson Dick Grayson. Rather than what he has been pidgeon holed into a wee bit recently. You’ve also got to remember the current comics are Dick Grayson a lot older than he is in the show rn. I think they have done a excellent job capturing all that is Grayson. And I have always seen Tim and Dick as the most similar as robins. They have the most in common anyway. I think it may just seem like Dick has quite a few Tim characteristics because we don’t get to see too much of Tim in the show. I definately think that Teen Titans 2003 feels a lot more Tim Drake rather than Dick even though it’s supposed to be Dick. It’s kind of a mix of all three Tim, Jason and Dick in TT. But they kind of left it ambiguous in the show so I always just imagine it’s Tim 😂
In the comics every universe that doesnt have a Richard "Dick" Grayson is 200% a hellhole, he is that amount of a golden boy. Dick is naturally a good person, he simply makes everyone lives around him better even in detriment of his own, he isn't perfect but he is always trying.
Dick is great anytime he appears from the DCAU, Teen Titans, The Batman and Young justice. Him trying to move on from his parents death while not letting it consume him like it did Bruce is great. He takes his gifts and tries to become better.
I love how in Batman Bad Blood. It is Dick Grayson that is able to reach out to Batman/Bruce Wayne! Breaking through the Mind control to get him back to his former self, allowing the man to know that even though Dick never wanted to don his Cowl, he looks up to him, that he was the Best person to ever come into his life and give him the tools to live and fight for others in a bleak world!
Dick Grayson is one of the best characters I've ever seen. As I grow older, I appreciate someone who can be kind, be inspirational, be hopeful despite the tragedy and hardships they faced. Dick Grayson went through the exact same thing Bruce Wayne did, he watched his parents die in front of him, and despite that, he still has a life outside of fighting crime. It's not everything like it is to Batman, while he still has his father's brilliant mind, he doesn't have his obsessions. Dick still has a life, he has relationships and he has the ability to look forward. Batman himself said that Nightwing was what he wanted Batman to be.
I’m so grateful for this narrative of the character, and the work JM put into his voice. Grayson is my favorite fictional character, I connect a lot to his story with Bruce, and I’m especially grateful Nightwing now has a stronger comic and pop culture identity.
Videos like these are what contribute to my notion that all 4 Robins essentially fill a quadrant of who Wayne/Batman is Grayson's Robin, although losing his parents like Wayne, shows us the angle of a healthy mindset paired with/ the drive to save others. Nightwing is all Batman hoped "Batman" would've been. Balanced and introspective about both his identity (Grayson) and the mask, taking past pain as lessons to mesh within himself for future obstacles to come.
"so that he wouldn't" has stuck with me as one of my favorite lines from any batman interpretation for years now. young justice season 1 was truly something special and extremely underrated.
One thing I loved about this show is that it not only sealed Dick Grayson as my favorite Robin and character in the show, but also one of my favorite superheroes ever.
There's something funny about Wonder Woman commenting on Batman bringing in Dick Grayson at a young age considering she comes from an island of warrior women who are trained from a young age for combat.

Dick Grayson is my favorite superhero. Whether he’s Robin, Nightwing, Batman, agent 37, whatever. He’s a character defined by both his compassion and the compassion shown to him. That’s why his Batman is so different from Bruce’s he’s a happier, more well rounded Batman who’s actually fit to raise a child like Damian Wayne. I’ve been seeing more and more people talking about him recently and I’m so glad people are starting to see just how amazing his story is.
I just wanted to say, that towel whip you threw in near the beginning made my day. Also thank you for putting out these videos week after week. Young Justice is probably one of my favorite super hero shows and I really appreciate you giving each character the deep dive they deserve.

I've thoroughly enjoyed your videos with regards to the analysis of the original members of the team with M'gann and now Dick. Can't wait to see your assessment with Connor, Artemis, Roy, Kaldur'ahm, and Wally.
I really liked what young justice did with dick, usually i find him to be quite a 2d character but in this show I found myself very interested in his story and progression.
On top of Wally's death, he also had to witness Barbara's (another childhood friend) brutal paralysis. It was never addressed in the show why he worked with her as Oracle but kept her secret even from the OG team members. This choice felt like he was being overprotective.
The reason why I liked the Robin from Teen Titans better is because this version of Dick Grayson is more onto the mission and becoming more like Batman… even he doesn’t seem to realize it.
This was a good video. The script was nice. The intro pulled me in from the get-go. The music was lovely, and the clips from show were placed perfectly. This video made me understand how much about Dick you studied. It must have been very hard.

So outside of these videos I haven't seen much of Young Justice. I knew Dick was voiced by Jessie McCartney and he does a good job but I can't help but hear Roxas from Kingdom Hearts whenever he speaks, especially as Nightwing.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Dick Grayson has been and always will be my favorite character in the DCU, no matter what show or movie he’s in
Now that I think of it young Bruce spent his whole child hood on festering on anger and vengeance but with Robin bring in his killer early he could spend his child hood as a kid and hero
I'm always every really bothered that with Dick they made it seem like The Batman couldn't change base upon who inherited the role and writers have leaned too much into that now. It's why I liked Batman Beyond and Terry being Batman because it goes against that a lot. Batman is a symbol, we always say that but it's more the truth of Batman is predefined role and attitude. There was a line of Dick taking over after Batman's "death" and they allowed him to do so much as Batman to be his own. I like that better and I like the idea that Bruce would want that as well but he also wouldn't want Dick to be shackle being Batman.
The fact that you were able to get through phantoms is a testament to your commitment. I just couldn't get past all the stilled animation and constant expositing of that season.
Ok, just the opening section of this convinced me to watch Young Justice, and let me say, Jesse McCartney does not get the credit he deserves as a voice actor, between this and Roxas in Kingdom Hearts, dude is amazing at getting across emotions through his voice.
Batman claims he helped Robin out so that he wouldn't turn out like him...sadly, that's EXACTLY what happened. In many continuities; Grayson is just as strict, closed off and obsessed with victory at any cost as Batman is (most notably in Teen Titans)
Dick is the full embodiment of what batman should have and bruce even says this. He is always looking to the future while batman is looking back. He truly is Batman's greatest success.
This is the video I didn't know I needed. And I do mean "needed". It's amazing how ofen seemingly unrelated things can help one reconsider and refocus. You, sir, area Good Dick - a title you most assuredly deserve. :P XD

Dick Grayson is my number one favorite DC character ever, and YJ Dick means a lot to me. Happy to see an analysis on him.
The best adaptation of Dick Grayson hands down
More like best adaptation of Tim Drake since that's what this young justice version is is basically Tim Drake
Teen Titans
@@danielcesar664 that was Dick Grayson but he was a mash up of Dick, Jason, and Tim. Definitely interesting but not really accurate in a cannon sense.
I've always loved Dick Grayson's progression as a character in Young Justice even in the "not as good" seasons
Dick is great anytime he appears from the DCAU, Teen Titans, The Batman and Young justice.
Him trying to move on from his parents death while not letting it consume him like it did Bruce is great. He takes his gifts and tries to become better.
Tim Drake Robin might not have a lot to do in Young Justice, but there’s probably something to say about his character
Tim drake is bland
Videos like these are what contribute to my notion that all 4 Robins essentially fill a quadrant of who Wayne/Batman is
Grayson's Robin, although losing his parents like Wayne, shows us the angle of a healthy mindset paired with/ the drive to save others. Nightwing is all Batman hoped "Batman" would've been. Balanced and introspective about both his identity (Grayson) and the mask, taking past pain as lessons to mesh within himself for future obstacles to come.
Dick Grayson is especially this version is the best Robin in DC media
"so that he wouldn't" has stuck with me as one of my favorite lines from any batman interpretation for years now. young justice season 1 was truly something special and extremely underrated.
One thing I loved about this show is that it not only sealed Dick Grayson as my favorite Robin and character in the show, but also one of my favorite superheroes ever.
the effect this show had on me is crazy cause i really hear Jesse McCartney’s voice in my head when i read Nightwing comics
There's something funny about Wonder Woman commenting on Batman bringing in Dick Grayson at a young age considering she comes from an island of warrior women who are trained from a young age for combat.
They're enhanced and powered by gods also not leacing the island vs nine year old kid vs automatic weapons and psychopaths
@@lordskeletor4558 Ignoring the fact that Bruce took in Dick to help him bring his parent's killers to justice, killers who were normal humans, to bring Dick some closure (something Bruce never had growing up). Dick chose to remain with Bruce to investigate and fight crime. Cyborgs and alien threats weren't part of the original scope of Dick's training with Batman, but Dick rose to those occasions.
@@otterfire4712 Yeah and my comment is for the difference between the two not arguing about justification
And after this proceeds to have two teen apprentices of her own
@@RAINBOWNIGTHMAREPRODUCTIONS two apprentices that aren't traumatized or dead. Meanwhile everyone single one of Bruce's child soldiers are screwed in one way or another
Dick is one of my all time biggest comfort characters. Absolutely love this character.
I’d like to think that part of his actions in Invasion was due to the death of Jason Todd.
But since it’s not stated, we can only speculate.
That circus episode in season one always gets me in my feels. Was a casual Jesse McCartney fan prior, but a diehard fan now after he voiced Dick Grayson.
It’s crazy how high quality your writing and videos are. Love it all
Damn...I didn't realize when I clicked this that there would be spoilers for the one version of Grayson that I didn't want spoilers for. 😅 Stopping this early; hopefully I remember to come back and check out the rest after I finish the show.
We all need a good Dick Grayson in our lives ❤😂
I recently just finished this show, I'm super glad u made this. It was super entertaining whilst also being inciteful into one of my favorite super heroes. Nice job!
This one had me in tears I’m not gonna lie… great work.
My god man what a great video essay I can’t wait to go watch your other videos on the other young justice characters and I’m excited for the ones yet to come
So outside of these videos I haven't seen much of Young Justice. I knew Dick was voiced by Jessie McCartney and he does a good job but I can't help but hear Roxas from Kingdom Hearts whenever he speaks, especially as Nightwing.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, Dick Grayson has been and always will be my favorite character in the DCU, no matter what show or movie he’s in
Young justice is my favorite DC cartoon and my favorite version of Dick Grayson I NEED a season 5
I'm proud of you, Dick.
Thank you for articulating exactly why I love Dick Grayson
Now that I think of it young Bruce spent his whole child hood on festering on anger and vengeance but with Robin bring in his killer early he could spend his child hood as a kid and hero
I love Dick Grayson SO much. He got me into DC
Thank you for this video. So well-timed!!
this is the coolest channel, I never get tired of these
Theres very very few channels that continue to pleasantly surprise me as this one does. Thank you for the content. I truly enjoy it.
I love your videos, especially the Young Justice videos!
I need a playlist of this dude's music in all his videos, it's just too good
please do Artemis next. I am half Việt and her and Cheshire are about as much representation as I get in comics.
Please don't that show was trash and I feel people need to quit praising it like it's something smart
i think i just cried and died inside a bit this just made my day
I love him so much
Ok, just the opening section of this convinced me to watch Young Justice, and let me say, Jesse McCartney does not get the credit he deserves as a voice actor, between this and Roxas in Kingdom Hearts, dude is amazing at getting across emotions through his voice.
This video did this show justice. Keep on keeping on
The fever dream has to be one of the best scenes in outsiders
Dick Grayson is my favorite hero of all time. Bats is a close second.
I miss this show SO badly,, LOVED this analysis 🫶🏾
i need a season about geoforce at least becoming good again. or seeing the truth. just coming around again. i was pissed how he was left
I just need to see the show end and not be left on a cliff hanger
Batman claims he helped Robin out so that he wouldn't turn out like him...sadly, that's EXACTLY what happened.
In many continuities; Grayson is just as strict, closed off and obsessed with victory at any cost as Batman is (most notably in Teen Titans)
An excellent analysis of one of my favourite portrayals of my favourite guy, thankyou
This was incredible! Thank you for taking the time to make this. Love the internet lol
Dick is the full embodiment of what batman should have and bruce even says this. He is always looking to the future while batman is looking back. He truly is Batman's greatest success.
I thought this was a funny moments compilation video but the first few minutes literally made me want to cry
This is the video I didn't know I needed. And I do mean "needed". It's amazing how ofen seemingly unrelated things can help one reconsider and refocus. You, sir, area Good Dick - a title you most assuredly deserve. :P XD
Wild Diana would say that about the crime fighting. She was learning hand to hand combat with/from gods from birth. Lol.
Dick Grayson is my favorite DC hero. Yes even above Batman
Such a cool video, Glad you keeping it up
Second video i see from from you, this man dont miss+
This was very well done. Thank you.
I don’t know if you will see this but I’ve been binging your videos and your perspective and interpretation of some media that is so close to my childhood really hits me deep. Thanks for the content
If I ever want a good cry, I just watch an implicitly pretentious vid on my favorite characters
Thank you for making this video! Really love it.
"Robin needed to bring the man that murdered his family to justice."
"So he could turn out like you?!"
"Diana... I've literally never had closure or moved on from that moment my entire life."
I do like this scene but good lordy Diana is really riding some high horse when she would understand literally nothing about this kind've situation.
Thanks for the great video. Could never articulate why I loved this character
This is such a great channel
Grayson is no doubt my favourite Bat Fam member
Bats is one of my favourite superheroes
But Grayson is one of my favourite fictional people.
God I love these videos!
this was beautiful
Thanks Dick, I appreciate it
Such amazing editing man!
0:27 his position here is showing just how afraid he is. This is why he feels that he can’t be Batman because
**I want him to be batman... IF.. he TAKES HIS LIL BRO DAMIAN WITH HIM as his Robin**
(Grant morrison's rebirth run! LETS GO!))
peak presentation and video editing
Excited for a potential Roy/Arsenal video!
Another banger of a video
Great video man. great video I needed this
Bro cooked with this one
