  • Todd shows the 1979 FXEF 'metal bobber' he just bought, starts and rides it. The machine was just washed and detailed. in the detail, Gibbs was used which is an anti rusting agent. So you will see a lot of smoke off the machine. it takes a couple of days to burn this off but prevents the bare metal from rusting. for detailed pix go here www.flickr.com/...
    for the anti rust stuff, gibbsbrand.com for detail stuff purpleslice.com

    Just watched this video for the first time. Love the bike and the bare metal look. Always wondered what the best way is to preserve that look without rust ruining it? Clear coat or something else? Also, great job on making those exhaust pipes!

      You guessed right, clear coat

    The builder has done a great job, it's strange why he let it go to that lad! Wish these would turn up in the uk in this condition!

    Smokes every time you accelerate. That is not the detailer my friend. That is a wore out/broken rings. Sounds like it has a vacuum leak as well. Nice bike, much like all your finds. History on that 46 knuckle was very cool. What Id do to live my twenties in the 60's. Keep up the good work

    So that gibs compound is to in essence season the metal so it doesn’t rust like carbon or cast iron? How often do u apply?

    Nice bike Todd, where can I find simple 18" ape bars for an 03 sportster. Thanks.

    • @HuntingHarleys
      @HuntingHarleys  10 років тому

      most of the bobber guys get their bars from local welder's into bikes. For commercial bars, Flanders makes high quality. Any dealer can order from them for you

    When you rebuild the top end make sure the bottom end is also rebuild because you have to replace all bearings and races my friend has a 1970 shovel and he rebuilt the top end 1 year later he heard a nocking sound coming from the bottom end he then had to pull it all back apart come to find out his connecting rod bearings failed he replaced all bearings and brass inserts engine runs fine now
