Nice roof paint job. That is a first for me! Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge
Yea it was painted. That was actually my brothers house. I told him he was crazy... 😂
Thanks again for a great video.
You're welcome!
You saved me more then a few bucks! Great video, helped me replace my new boot........LIKE A GLOVE!!!!
Glad I could help... That's excellent!.. :-)
Sweet video! I like that you are using common tools that everyone would have.
Brandon Aga thanks!... yes I wanted to aim it to the DIY person just trying to save some money....
What about roof vent pipe cover?
Good video Sir anyway 👍
That's what the video is about... or do you mean a different style?
Thank you... :-)
I mean vent pipe cap.
If you have to use an exposed fastener: Use a woodscrew with a rubber washer. Dip the screw in the end of your tube of caulk. Fasten it in the bottom middle of the boot. This diverts the waterfall effect. Now the fastener only deal's with direct rain. It is rare to need to use an exposed fastener like the one used in this video.
I actually see exposed fasteners all the time. But I do like your idea of the screw with the rubber washer. Thanks for the great idea... 🤓🤓
Hey thanks for posting! I always wondered how they did that! your channel has my support
Excellent! Thanks.... I should have some more vids coming out soon... been working a lot but things are looking up... :-)
What you guys need is a pair of duck bill snips for cutting the shingles. Hook blade is not the way to do it .
Thanks for the tip!
Do Roofers usually change these when the apply a new roof?
Yes normally..
how much does this cost to do
Very cheap.. The boot is about $6, tube of black jack caulk $3, and maybe a box of roofing nails $6.. about $15 total.
The shingle will Not cover them 2 nails at the bottom
ok
@@TheHomeImprovementChannel no need for exposed nails nails on the side and top of the boot will hold it down. also a few dabs of sealant under the bottom will help
@@johnlieb1 Good tips... Thanks..:-)
They make these essential boots so flimsy. Wish they would charge few extra dollars for something that lasts longer.
IKR.... They have failure built right in!
292 here to help you move up one more time. Would like your support as well. We need these type vids. Thanks
Thanks Man..!... Subbed..
Yeah, sure, on that flat ass roof. Mine is so steep I just got back down off it, almost crapping myself, because I couldn't even crawl up it without fear of slipping down.
Yea, I know. I'm not to keen on a steep roof either. Of course changing the vent is the same procedure except you have to hold on for dear life!
You need to put a safety anchor somewhere on your roof and use a harness.
