Great install vid Rob!. I too put on the Dalton kit on my 15 outlander 1000 max xt. Love it so far with my 27 inch swamp lites and it no longer feels sluggish down low.
Thanks Rob! Good to know, haven't tried mine yet! Thanks for watching and happy motoring!
Great vid Rob, you really worked "Thunder" since after the 50hr warranty, lol n you've learned n taught us a lot. Factory atv great, add on's of course necessary. I remember Shawn recommending to change the belt to the maverick belt? Either way great set up and I'm sure u'll put it 2 the test. Get the healing done 1st bro, nice to see u had help with sum of it cuz it isn't always easy on ur own. Thx 4 a good n helpful share. U rock bro.
I think Shawn was running Gates and now has gone back to the BRP preformance belt now, that's what I'm running! Glad you enjoyed the video! Hoping to get out soon and start making some more ATV vids this spring...if spring ever shows up! Received 7" of snow yesterday, pretty depressing! LOL! Thanks for watching Darryl!
I watched to see how you held the primary to tourque and then.....
You didn't show us 😞.
Still love your Vids!!!
Keep it up 👍
Had someone wedge a 2x4 against it to hold it. Thanks Man!
great video..you've done lots of good cost effective mods that make sense power and reliability
Thanks Man! Hoping it all works out for me this season, should be a blast! Thanks for tuning in!
Great video! That will come in handy in the near future thanks 👍❤️
Glad the vid will be helpful, good luck on your upgrade and thanks for tuning in Glenn!
Didn't look too bad to do . Thanks for sharing Rob.
It was a lot easier than I expected, secondary gave me a little problem till I figured out how to lock it! Thanks for watching Frank!
Bravo Rob!! Very well done.
Thanks Brian, appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
I would of done a full clutch set up first, but that will work better than what stock was. Hoping this summer to put the full STM set up with a new Maverick belt along with TheBomracing optimizer.
Money is going towards something else this year, so trying the Dalton Kit first. If I'm not happy with it, full clutches next year! Good luck with your build, hope the machine is working good for you! Thanks for watching Kyle!
Great job
I just did the revits but one of them not equal from both side I used big compress machine now I really don’t know if that matter or Will effect the kit performance ?
It might, depends on the weight difference. You might get a vibration from the clutch, hopefully not. Good luck.
@@RobFarrowATV thanks I will try and see
I take it you have not tried it yet?
Very nicely done always very informative.
Thank you for sharing Rob.
Thanks Marc! No, haven't tried it yet, couple more upgrades and then I'll be going out whether it's snowing or not! LOL! Thanks for tuning in!
I think this is probably the fourth time I've watched the video, always well done the videos.
Forgot to ask what did you think of this clutch kit.
And again thank you for taking the time to make the video.
Thanks Marc, appreciate it! There is nothing wrong with the clutch kit, it grabs harder and does what its supposed to do. You can still burn a belt in deep thick mud but I only went thru one belt in the year and a half I had it. If you can't afford a full aftermarket clutch, then the Dalton Kit is the way to go.
Good Instructions. I have a ? When you were tightening the secondary did I see going counterclockwise to tighten. If i get in trouble and burn a belt That would be nice to know, Thanx fer sharin! Very nicely done,
Hey Bob! Clockwise to tighten the bolts on the clutches and the spreader bolt for loosening the belt! Thanks for checking the video out!
Where exactly you notice difference with this kit installed? Throttle response? L gear? Thx for video
The kit makes the clutch grab the belt harder and you will notice it on take off and in mud. It will still allow the belt to slip in heavy mud but is way better than stock. The next step up is an aftermarket primary clutch like a CVTech which I now run. The Dalton kit is for those that can't afford a new clutch but still want something better than the stock. I ran the Dalton for a year or so before finally getting a CVTech. Good luck!
Nice upgrade Rob it is nice to have a extra set of hands or just one
Thanks William! An extra set of hands comes in handy once in awhile! The Dalton upgrade has been good to me! Thanks for watching!
What bolt did you use to spread the secondary
M8 - 1.25 x 70mm fully threaded
Hey rob, after 6 years you still happy with the dalton clutch kit?
I only had it for 1.5 years then bought a CVTech primary. I was happy with the Dalton when I had it but I could still burn a belt in the deep skeg or mud. It was snappy off the line though. The CVTech was much better, never burned a belt again and much smoother. I sold the XMR 850 a few years ago and bought a SXS, sold that and now have a brand new Outlander pro hd7 which I'm really enjoying. I don't do skeg anymore but do pretty much every other kind of terrain...lots of exploring. Thanks Aaron!
Rob, what a recommendation for a kit, my 2019 outlander 850 tires 27 "
complete kit or only the primary, or complete with secondary? With the OEM I just force it a little and it smells the clutch belt,
some help give me?
Thank you
You looking for a Kit or an Aftermarket? Dalton with a secondary spring is the way to go for a kit...I've got the CVTech Primary Aftermarket Clutch with the Dalton Secondary spring in mine and it works well. Some people say go aftermarket secondary but I haven't found the need to yet...maybe if I raced or something like that but I'm happy with what I have and I was happy with the way the Dalton Worked at the time. If you're into heavy mud though, I'd go at least with an Aftermarket Primary Clutch with a beefed up Secondary spring! Good luck Jose!
Hey, recently bought a used 2016 outlander 850 XMR. It has what I think the "Can-am clunk". Curious if the clutch kit install took care of this, if you even had it. Thanks.
Hey Adam! Can Am Clunk has to do with the sway bar bushings, replaced them with Garage Products brand and the clunk went away. The clutch shouldn't clunk but does slip big time under load such as being really stuck or in really thick mud, that's where the upgrade comes in! Good Luck Man!
Well done . I see you have an apprentice .
LOL! Yeah, she's the hand model! ;-) You need 3 hands for the Secondary! Thanks for watching!
Rob Farrow, I wish I had a hand model, foot model or any other kind of model the day I did mine! It was a P.I.A. to install the secondary by myself and the center bolt to! I got it done & now It's easier to trail ride my XMR without the belt squeaking and all the extra heat! Great Vid!
Hey Rob, I shredded a belt on my can am and i was wanting to know if the secondary clutch bolt is special or can I just use one that fits
Secondary bolt is a M8 x 1.25 x 80mm, You should be able to get it at a Hardware or Automotive store. Any other bolt might strip the threads or jamb inside. Good luck and Happy Trails Dylan!
Rob, this video was a huge help. I just did the same upgrade to my 2019 850 XMR. Of the mods you’ve done to your 850, which one had the biggest effect?
That's awesome, glad it helped you! Clutches and Reflash are by far the best mods...especially in mud!
Hey was wondering how that clutch kit turned out? Was it worth it and was there a noticable difference? I'm wanting to order one for my 1000
If You can afford the Aftermarket Clutch like a CVTech then buy one, if not and you want a Kit, then the Dalton is the way to go! It was a great upgrade, noticed the difference immediately! You will still burn a belt if you are stuck in really thick mud or skeg but otherwise I never had an issue with it. I couldn't afford an aftermarket, so I bought the Dalton and loved it. Some people on the Web Sites say, save your money and buy an aftermarket, clutch kits are a waste of money, etc. but I'm glad I got the Dalton. I ran it for a year and a half no issues and then got an opportunity to buy a used CVTech. Good luck and Happy Trails Dustin!
Rob Farrow ATV thanks for the input! Yeah I cant afford to do clutches. But was hoping clutch kit would make a difference. Think I will order the dalton
@@RobFarrowATV was it a huge performance difference with the dalton kit? And how do u compare it with the cvtech?
@@mishaalsalha6494 The Dalton made it hit hard and pickup and go but still would smoke the belt in really deep thick stuff...although a slightly smoked belt still is good as long a there's no cracks or delaminating. Always check your belt after a few rides, might save you a belt change in the mud. LOL! The CVTech never smoked the belt and had a better range of engagement. I found the CVTech a little better than the Dalton. I haven't tried any other clutches so I can't comment on them.
Great video. Thanks for posting. After putting in your new clutch does it still make that whirling sound.
Thanks Man! With the Dalton kit in the clutch still makes the same noise...I've gone to a CVTech Primary now and it makes a clanging sound now! LOL! The CVTech's are know for that type of sound even though nothing's wrong with them. Thanks for watching!
@@RobFarrowATV I used to ride Honda and just bought a 2019 Outlander Max two up. When I put it into gear from a stopping point every single gear clanks the clutch because of the belt has that whirling sound and every time I give it gas it clicks I guess I just have to get used to that lots of people say that's the way Can am is. Lol. It appears that these can ams are higher maintenance then the Honda's. But I sure have a pretty nice looking machine...lol
You might be able to adjust the clutch with different settings and also adjust the shift lever linkage might be out a bit. Congrats on the Can Am purchase! Happy Trails!
Nice video Rob so by doing this kit you getting more top end ? or bottom end ?
It lets the engine get higher rpm and more torque before engaging the drive...I think about 500 rpm or something to that effect! That way when the drive kicks in, the engine has a chance to put more power to spin those 30" wheels in the mud! I think it takes a little away from top end speed but that doesn't bother me! Thanks for watching!
Ohhh ok thx 30 " wow been breaking any axles ? Or bearing problems
Rob Farrow If you measure them up its closer to 28.5".
Hey what rivets are better if am running 32” silverbacks I was told the aluminum but it seems like they not working right
I have a 2011 renegade 800 x Xc
Whats the best revets?
I was running the brass rivots with stock 30" tires, seemed to work alright. I would think that the Aluminum rivots would give you a little more torque. Maybe You need a different Primary spring? Do You have the Kit for 30"+ tires? What secondary spring did the kit have...believe mine was the Black with pink dot for the secondary. Thanks for watching!
Rob Farrow ATV I got the DBO 800m kit with yellow and black dot primary and green yellow dots secondary and no problem thanks for your help and great helpful videos
In low my bike is a beast but in high it sucks ass burns to much belt on high gear and 4x4
Maybe leave the drive belt on until you pop loose the primary bolt? those clutches cast? hate to break one. I'm watching this instead of fixing my pickup.
The belt wasn't stopping anything from spinning, so I decided to remove it. Yeah, didn't really want to mess one up but I guess that would have given me an excuse to buy some new ones! LOL! Time to fix your truck now! ;-) Thanks for watching Olive!
What is the bolt size for the secondary?
Not sure off hand, ordered it from the BRP online site in Quebec! Thanks for watching!
All that and no results!?
Ran it for a year, still burned a belt but it was definitely better than the Stock Clutches! Finally bought a used CVTech Primary and never looked back since! No burned belts and great performance from it! Everyone says, save your money and buy an aftermarket Clutch and skip the kit but I couldn't afford the Aftermarket right away and wanted something better than the Stock, so I went with the Dalton...I'm happy I did...but if You can afford an Aftermarket, that's the way to go!
Not a mechanic my ass
LOL! Nope, not a mechanic, just mechanically inclined. Thanks for watching Jarett!
