- They seamlessly blend "Since You've Been Gone" and "Forget you" in a story told on stage. This is art. And they do it in style. I love them in Black and Yellow, and I love how each part is important but it's still easy to get lost in the sound.
I remember watching this when it aired. It struck me that none of the other bands really got the idea of a Mash-up. They all treated it like a medley: They did one song and then the other. Pentatonix was the only group that really blended the two songs together. It's a tradition that they've carried on in their albums with songs like La La Latch and New Rules/ Are you that somebody.

This performance is always memorable simply because it's when Shawn dubbed Kevin and Avi "Meat and Potatoes". Shawn is known as the first Pentaholic and I totally agree. :)
While this isn't my favorite performance, this is the one that really showed how great they are at arranging songs.

Yeah it's Kirstin, at least professionally. Kirstie is her nickname and what she mostly goes by now to most fans and people who know her.
The arrangement and singing are impeccable. The little play they put on is impeccable. But what I keep coming back to this video for is that epic battle between Avi and Kevin. I wonder who came up with *that* idea.

They did such intelligent work with mashing these two songs up I was absolutely impressed! It was like they took bits and pieces of lyrics from both songs and performed them in a way that sounds like one of either of the two songs. It flows so naturally. And there was some good theatricality! I loved it when Kirstin put a finger in the middle of Scott's chest and pushed him back a step while singing "Without you, now I get... what I want" on the word "you". It turned "You" into an exclamation mark. I felt the angst.
I wonder what Scott did that made her so mad? LOL LOL! 😂

This performance is a pretty fun one and I always appreciate the seamless way that they go from song to song. Can't wait to watch you react to the next perfomance.

Great reaction, again! You know there are a 13th and 14th performance, too? Thirteen is pretty interesting, and while there are some who didn't like it, I think the ending has some of the most beautiful harmonies of the whole show. The 14th is really fun, and Kirstie is very sexy in it. I sure hope you do those two, also. Also, while the finale drags on a bit, it is the final step in the process of the whole show, and seeing their reaction when they won is great. Even if you don't record your reaction, I hope you are able to watch it.

Glad you are feeling better. I really think this is an under-rated performance. I love how they can mash up songs so well and make it seem effortless. Congratulations again on the new future addition to the family.

I know most people like 10 and 12 better, or 5, this was one of my favorites, because they are showing what Ptx could do with the mash up, was fun, they sing well, they did all well
Yes this was theatrical! They act the song not sing, love the demonstration between Kevin and Avi, love the background voice of Mitch, he need to change from Scott to Kirstin, and like the way Scott and Kirstin sing and act.
First of all as I know most people have mentioned and all of their other performances well maybe except for two but I won't spoil anything, is that Mitch does not get as much credit. On another hand I cannot believe that this was 10 years ago
I thought it was perfect, pop goes Broadway! Yeah, yeah, indeed! The fifth, the sixth, the tenth, they were fabulous, but the twelfth is going to whack you over the head and blast you back against the wall. Get ready to rock! Meanwhile, wasn't this one a pure gas? Loved it! I love the pure theatricality that Kirstie brings to this performance. It's perfect.
It was brilliant. So many reactors don't notice what they are doing for quite awhile. Too focused on the music and not the entire performance. You got it though.
Thank you so much for doing this set of reactions. It's brought back the whole feeling of watching back when it went down, and me hoping so much that they would win. Beautiful retrospective view of their journey. YES, I am sitting on needles waiting for the 12th reaction.

I really liked this performance. Its amazing how they can all sing their own part but still make it all come together. You should react to "Carol of the Bells" by Pentatonix. (if you haven't already) :)
I loved this performence and your reaction! Maybe after the Sing Off reactions you could react to Superfruit reacting to Sing Off. That is a fun thing to see.
I liked this one too because it shows how smart they are. The transitions are seamless, like it's one song.

So glad you are feeling better - you were missed yesterday. Great reaction as always. You are right, not everyone likes/appreciates the same things in these performances. I was reflecting on your comment from a few videos ago when I was watching the beginning of this, they DO add overstated drama to the mix just to make it "tense". I wonder if they really had that much self-doubt or if that was for the "show". I hope they were getting support and feedback in real life. On to my favorite song!!
