Holy moly! I’ve been looking for good lead holders forever. Art stores, drafting supply houses.... they all have the cheap holders but I’ve never run across these. Built in sharpeners??? Thanks. Now I know what to look for.
I have the money now to buy even 2 rotring 600's but I'm a little bit hesitant. I don't know if they worth the money they cost like 40$ on ebay. Does the metal feel nice on the 600 lead holder? does it not feel cheap?
Guess what. I've been eyeing them for far too long. I ordered Rotring 600 2mm lead holder in black and silver , mitsubishi uni 2mm lead pointer , and to top it all a rotring 600 0.5 mm drafting pencil in black. I just need to buy some 2mm lead now any recommendations for lead brand and lead hardness?
I just ordered mitsubishi Uni lead in HB 4H and B3 from amazon some how the shipping was free. They cost a bit less but you get only 6 leads instead of 12 in staedtler. I dunno I heard the lead is super smooth so I went for it. I'm so happy I can't wait to get every thing , I might buy red and blue staedtler lead also for fun. Thanks for your help I love your channel , I hope these supplies inspire me to draw every single day like you do :)
You kidding? I watch it like every day , seeing how consistant you are and knowing you enjoy it is very inspiring to me. And again thanks :) I'll tell you what I think about the rotring pencils when they arrive probably will take a month or two.
@@KyleDraws Did you get the silver or the black? Ima bout to get one and I can't decide. I tend to like the silver more but everyone says the black is better and ages well with the brass showing
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess I actually ended up getting both of those as well, I think the black ends up looking a little nicer as it ages, but both are really good!
I'm curious to try the Isograph someday. Wish there was a store I could go to and try one out. I'd hate to lay down 40 bucks and have a complicated pen that isn't far and away better than some of my other pens.
Best for drawing, is the Faber Castell 9400, maybe a TK 4600 too! Just pull out its pocket clip and it becomes a 9400 , just perfect! PS Stay away, from any lead holder, or mechanical pencil, that has that cushioning mechanism on the tip, if you want the pencil for drawing. That kind of mechanisms, are only good for writing, when drawing however, they are a big disadvantage. PS2 (if you are going to use it for drawing), stay away from retractable tips too,
Beautiful collection 😍😍😍 So which one do you like the most? 600 800 or rapid pro can you list them 1 to 3 ? May I ask also which lead brand are you using for the 2mm and the 0.5mm? I know I said along time ago I will be buying 2 rotring lead holders I was spending too much money on pens xD But I was just looking up some rotring holders and this video poped up. Btw I saw the video you made about kim jung gi thank you very much for it.
hello kyle how are you? what is the difference between a lead holder and a normal mechanical pencil? does the lead holder have more line variations than a normal mechanical pencil?
Biggest difference is that the lead is 2mm thick rather than like .5mm or .75mm. I like using them because I end up using it more like a wooden pencil than a mechanical one. Using the side of the lead and stuff.
Would you mind explaining what a leadholder pen is? I consider buying a great pencil to work with but I am Not sure which one, any particular recommendations or videos where I can see you work with them?
Even though the 500 isn't as premium as the 600 it was actually the original Rotring of this design, you can see pictures of the original burgundy body, the 0,3 was the 503, the 0,5 was the 505, etc. Only later they introduced the full brass 600, and it actually didn't sell well at the time, cause it was a radical departure of what people were used, only later it became so appreciated, and it's the reason there are many new old stock in the box Rotring 600 in the used market The 500 may actually be better for people that prefer a pencil with a low center of gravity, with the weight more towards the tip
love the 4k, really enhances detail

Caran d’Ache also worth a look at
i'm glad i have the original 600 series in black as well as silver, full metal jackets... they have a great haptic.
Excellent video. Glad you loved the 600! I need to give the Rapid Pro pen a go on my next purchase!
So you haven't used the 2mm rapid pro ? only the 600 version?

you need to try the rotring 600 lead pencil its the best as an artist myself i really love using it and it feels solid even better then 800
Kyle Crumrine I think they meant the mechanical pencil not the lead holder.
Love how he never got a rootring 600 mechanical pencil the classic. The iconic model of rootring and the best built.
I actually did. Just didnt bother to make another video. 600 is great.

I know this video is old and probably won’t see this, but what’s you’re favorite rotring lead holder? Do you prefer the rapid pro over the 600?

The 800 also has an amazing 2.0mm leadholder.
Can you fill from the top on any of these? I have a rapid pro 2.0 and I'd love to do that instead
The rotring 600 has no problems with the top cap, it does not loosen, is it really all metal? the feel is same that the 600 of 0.5?

I love all things Rotring too. You should check out their fountain pens as well, very solidly built tough industrial designs. :-)
any specific fountain pen to recomend? thanks.
Hi, question, what leads you prefer for draw 0.5 or 0.7 or 2mm? and why?
What about for drawing I ordered the 600 is that good for drawing?
The 600 is great for drawing! Probably one of my favorites these days.
Does the black one easily scratched?
agntsmth77 yes
@LamboGenie The black finish wore off the knurling within ~ a month.
Would you mind explaining what a leadholder pen is?

Kyle Crumrine Ya, the comment was written before I went to your stream. :)
But thanks again
Have you had any problems with the 2mm rapid pro's red ring?, mine are loose, I feel the wobble in the part of the barrel that's attached to it.
The Rotring 600 .5mm is far superior to the 800 .5mm.
Youre rich
Pentel is way better imo
